  1. @spidersal You do realize Nederland has been 3-0 numerous times going into district and not make the playoffs, we also been 1-2 and won district. Imo this is a gauntlet of a non district to prepare us for district when it matters the most… do not freak out yet, let’s get a weeks in some actual district games in before start deciding everything. WOS is in the conversation to win state this year just like every year, PA won their district last year they look extremely tough this year and very well could challenge for a regional championship this year, Silsbee will be tough and could very easily meet WOS deep in the playoffs. Nederland beat WOS and Silsbee last year we didn’t make the playoffs. We could lose both those games this year and make the playoffs.. overall wait it out, let the sophomores get used to varsity speed of the game, get adjusted and play. Nothing will get them better ready than this non district schedule. If we get better than what we did last week that’s win.

  3. He brings it upon himself. 😂 I think @BMTSoulja1 needs to attend the MHS vs Ned game on Friday instead of his neighborhood school or take a paycut. 🤷🏾‍♂️😁

  4. Wos is a solid program. I never worried about the hype. The Bears and WOS need the work for District and playoffs are way more important. LCM needs this the most when we have face those East Texas teams!

  7. Why my fellow NED family likes using the sophomores as excuse. And not calling out the Coaching Decisions!!

  8. Thats because a teacher went out of there way to film the roof leaking and all kinds of issues. Sorry bud not a fan. She also paid 20-30k for her name on that gym. Most folks at LCM was happy to see her leave. Theres also other issues which prob get me in trouble again🗣

  9. Why not try to out think the other coach ? Work smarter not harder

  10. Yes sir the rule changed this year no more cutting outside the tackle box which really hurts because our lead blocker which is usually a running back would cut the end or linebacker which sprung the play not any more, it is just frustrating and look by no means do I think the coaches are doing anything on purpose I truly believe they feel that's the best chance we got and hell it might be the case I just think a few new wrinkles wouldn't hurt or just go back to running the true slot T

  12. It's is not about running the spread or the slot T, in fact with rule changes to blocking we can do very little cutting anymore which is why you didn't see many tigers on the ground Friday. We don't truly run the slot T anymore there is no mis direction it is all straight forward here we come, mis direction is what makes the slot T work never knowing who has the ball linebackers have to fill gaps instead of running to the ball every play. My thoughts on this is we don't develop qbs it's a new kid every yr so they are learning the offense on the fly instead of having a kid that played it since a freshman and knows it like the back of his hand. By no means do I believe we need to line up in shotgun with 5 wrs but also given time and working on it I think we got the kids that could do it. What I am saying though if we are going to run the slot T than run the true slot T not a knocked down version of it that makes it easy to defend, and for the love of god when we do try to throw why would you think it is a good idea to roll the qb left against his throwing shoulder

  14. If you watch film on the Vidor vs Silsbee game, you’ll either bust out laughing or crying depending on your emotions at the time. Vidor rarely has been a dominant team, but I haven’t seen them totally inept in a long time either, but Friday night, that describes them. I can’t imagine why. Very good last year. Several good starters returning. Undefeated JV. That (normally) adds up to a bright season/team, but they were anything but. That’s what has my head doing a 360. It’s analogous to someone making crawfish etouffee. They have fresh crawfish. All the proper ingredients. Everything is cooked to perfection. You sit down to eat and it taste like 💩. Why? What happened? I haven’t a clue.

  20. BG, I saw something that amazed me. A Lumberton fan that I wont mention there name said since Lumberton is a ranked Team no one wanted play them this year. It was hard to schedule anyone. That is the reason they are playing certain teams😬

  21. Burkeville fans. In fact.. Burkeville has a state title more recent than HD’s last playoff win. It’s beyond time to move on.

  22. Yepp - toss sweep left on first down, toss sweep right on second down, and QB boot with only three guys running routes on third down. Moody would also mix in a QB draw on third and long sometimes when he was feeling frisky.

  26. Surprised at how little "talk" this game is getting. EC is a "mystery" ths year. Only one scrimmage and not much other than a "score" report from it on this site and a lopsided game against an opponent they have thoroughly dominated in scrimmages over the past years. No prediction here and again just find the lack of discussion a bit unusual.

  28. Serious question: When was the last time Png started 0-2? I know it doesn't happen often.
    1 point
  29. Of course I'm aware of that. I guess what I mean is... How many times has Neece been a head coach where a former Head Coach comes in as an assistant with a son that starts as the varsity quarterback? I'll add that I've heard that Barrier has a reputation of being pretty well versed in the area. I wouldn't be surprised if some sort of arrangement was made before the hire about Barrier having a role somewhat.

  30. For real tho, I understand what you are saying. But having only little over 100 kids in all of high school. It does mean a lot to them to beat a school with 3 times more students. And it does help with the kids confidence. I’m brand new to this and this forum and it looks like HD section has some negativity towards it not even related to the kids or football team. Nothing but positivity over here. I think this section and the school needs some positive light. One thing I do know, those kids played hard and passed up all expectations on the first game. Congratulation to the coaches and mainly the kids playing so hard and getting a W. And that’s as far as it goes. now it’s on to the next one.

  31. Maybe we should tell Langston to schedule historically weak teams like Brazoswood and Alvin so WB can get easy wins. Or in BU's case, respectable losses according to @BMTSoulja1. Lmao...

  33. I'm familiar with small school ball, and i'm really not trying to get in a big debate over this. The point I'm making, which I'm sure you understand, is that out of those 25 kids in the program there are going to be handful of kids who have no business on the field against opposing varsity-level opponents. Having a JV for a few weeks at least gets them a little game experience, because in another year they may grow/improve enough to where they can actually contribute on a varsity level, OR due to injuries/grades they may be forced onto the field this year. If that happens, I'd rather them have played 3 jv games than watched 7 varsity games.

  35. No one knows the answer to that question that doesn't have a medical degree. If we are missing significant numbers of starters then PAM will be a favorite for sure. Hopefully we heal up just in time and get to have another awesome game like last year with PAM. Of all teams, Crosby won't be licking their wounds after this one the staff is simply too good and the kids are too bought in for them to let this King loss linger. They may have played one of the best teams in the state in a classification above them, no shame in that loss. Crosby has struggled with consistency early in the year last two years and by about week 4 put it all together for a long run through the playoffs. Totally different set of challenges this year and I think I speak for all cougars when I say we look forward to the journey.

    Evadale vs. Hardin

That's part of the reason that schools that are bad.. will continue to be bad. Consistency is key. And admitting reality is also key. When you don't have the horses, you don't have the horses. Still gotta leave the head guy alone so they can at least try to change a culture. How's that even possible if the 7th graders have 2/3/4/5 different systems before they reach senior year? It's worse when you actually get someone that would like to stay and build. That's rare enough for small schools. But.. I'm perfectly aware of how things work. Instant gratification mentality.

  39. Got some tough draws in 2nd\3rd rd. those years. All 3 playoff losses were to very strong teams, that had more talent, size & depth. The Manvel('17 Lost in state title game) & Marshall('18) games Ned hung the 1st half, but the 2nd half those teams just beat us down because they were better. No matter who the coaching staff was, Ned was not advancing. But I'm positive all 3 of those years the experts had Nederland forecasted to be average, not be in the mix for district titles & win as many games as they did, so the coaching staff\players amazingly over-achieved great success from what most expected.
