I hope it doesn’t come off like I’m wishing bad outcomes on Coach Hickman… my irritation is directed at the admin and people in the community who used everything available (including unproven claims of racism by CT) to make the swap.

UIL doesnt control how individual ISD's handle their business..there are many ISD's which are open enrollment...if the kids get there early enough they are eligible after 365 days regardless of what the PAPF says...so if a 9th grader who was never gonna play varsity moves in and isn't eligible as a freshman he'll be eligible as a sophomore

I think the game might be a close one.

In 2015 Jack Dallas was their third option at qb got them a ring. That’s not genetics alone, that’s a system. You can’t win with athleticism, hard work, or coaching alone… it’s a combo. It’s not luck that LCM picked up Peevey and started playing actual ball. WOS will be good, but great is still a big question mark. New coach has some big shoes to fill and my money says that WOS fans will regret hiring a coach solely based on a single qualification that has nothing to do with scheme.

PNG spanked WOS. Newton does not have the the ball club PNG has. So, just saying that WOS is not automatically the underdog because of the way they looked against PNG. The statement was for those that might think they are the underdog because of they way they looked against PNG!

It's interesting to see people discussing how the country "came together" after 9/11. But few acknowledge how the government weaponized the crisis, rewarding Americans with a bipartisan Patriot Act (98-1 in the Senate) that robbed us of our freedoms.

For what it's worth, my prediction was a close game with the Stangs on top. I knew the Stangs weren't the same team but still thought they would out athlete the Injuns. Here's hoping the Stangs will adjust and remain the measuring stick in our area. No slight to either squad, much respect for all....

Nederland will be ok. They're going through some changes now, but everything will work out. MUCH respect for the Nederland program from this PNG faithful.

I wouldn’t worry at all about WOS players. Coaching staff has some issues. PNG played a great game and the Stangs stumbled. Big Deal! A&M looses to Appalachian St. longhorns almost beat Alabama. On any given day…

The difference between Crosby and BH is that we can sleepwalk through a contest and still win by 20 like we did Friday night. Y’all can’t as evident by your .500 record last year. Y’all won’t be able to run the ball on us and outside of the freshman y’all don’t have any plus receivers with Dixon pretty much factorless. BH doesn’t have a Duncan like Lee did that can escape the pressure Crosby is going to bring. The routes BH throws to sink and dunk down the field are very conducive to interceptions from Crosby’s ball-hawking secondary. I think the two BH running backs are soft and won’t want to run it against Crosby all night. BH was very good when they played well last year because of their offensive line, they’re not at that level up front this year. On the defensive side of things, BH tackled very poorly in space against Montgomery. When their QB and RB had 1v1 situations on the edges they usually best the BH defenders for chunk plays. Myles is a BH killer when he pulls it down and Crosby’s starting RB ran for 184 yards on Lee. It hasn’t necessarily shown but I think the 8 starters y’all lost on defense are going to hurt a lot more than the 7 starters y’all lost on offense and Crosby is going to be the first team to espouse that. *On a side note FB Marshall bounced back with a 47-0 win over 6A Alief Taylor

IMO, it was a horrible idea to move on from the 50 defense. Some of these kids had grandparents play under the same system… think about that. Very few programs in the state can claim that continuity. That’s just my opinion though. But it’s not uncommon for teams to change schemes. How well they can teach the kids, and get them to buy-in is another thing. How well do those coaches coach them up, game plan , and make adjustments? WOS took a big step back, at best, and a monumental step back, at worst. Look at this guys Defensive coordinator resume. It’s safe to safe the jury is still out!

I’m not sure why most of the old staff was let go?! Don’t know if they left on their own, or saw the writing on the wall? Others can answer that. It makes you wonder, and believe that they wanted to completely change, and build the program from scratch. Not sure why that would be necessary, or a good idea. It’s WOS, not a marginal program.

WO-S will be fine this year. They will go 3-4 rounds deep, and most likely roll through district. The fans will walk back off the edge of the cliff, and get a false sense of security. What happens 2 and 3 years down the road, when the Hooks and Thompson influence on the program is further removed, how will the program be? How disciplined and tough will they be? If anyone believes the DC that came over from Westbrook will carry over the same tradition and style of play, while removing the 50 defense, then they will believe anything. Look at the defensive results from those Westbrook teams. I have ZERO faith that this guy will be able implement and teach a new scheme.

Will be an interesting matchup. Talk about a meltdown…. If this new 4-2-5 defense can’t stop the Newton running game, it will get loud in WO. I’m still going with WOS, Newton is young, and WOS should have the horses to win, despite lack of coaching. Curious to see if the new DC can make adjustments and Coach these kids up. You know Newton will throw tons of formations at WOS to see if they can get lined up. This is a game where the 50 defense and CT will be missed the most.

Last year one of the Bears best performances was their game vs. Kinkaid. They went on to win their District/Playoff. Kinkaid are always stacked with talent and should be another good test for the Bears. This year they played Jasper in a close game so you can't sleep on them. I think the Bears come out on top just hoping for an injury free game.

District will be here before you know it! Only 2 games left .. i just hope both teams comes out of this healthy and it’s a fairly good game! If we play defense like we did against the run last night.. we have a chance!

IMO C.T. would not have won this game neither. PNG was just too big for us to contend with. The boys PNG have were big, and very well conditioned. They never got tired. They dragged our boys like rag dolls give me a break . We (WOS) will be fine!! We were good to hold them down to 27 points.

WOS did not play up to their potential, PNG did. Advantage PNG (BAB) Big Azz Boys, 5A team, Good QB, strong RB. #1 reason your coach. He has that bloodline being the son of the best coach from Katy Texas. Disadvantage WOS, Not prepared, not making tackles, and they were out manned.

Not sure your judgement on football players talent is very good if you say there are not any good young players starting for Ned. Since you been against them before the season even started. I think you have a personal issue & will down play these young players no matter what they do?

Never said Nederland wasn't bad team so far this year, I am saying they have a solid group of young, good players mixed with some good seniors like the Bieber & Caywood players with potential to get better each game it was 21-21 at half vs. P.A. that's a sign of getting better from the WOS game? Heck score could have been 80 to 21 with the 8 turnovers, that in itself is a positive the players never quit playing hard. But there was many other positives & learning from the P.A. game to make Ned a better team for district. WOS & P.A. will make majority of golden triangle teams look like they don't have much talent like you say. This has nothing to do with being a bulldog backer, trust me anyone would tell you, if there was no talent to work with at all it would be stated by me.

I am shocked by the number of people that seem to be unaware that Coach T was there from the very beginning. That was his team long before he was the head coach. We had a brief period when he left and then he came back. We saw what happened. The proof was in the pudding and some folks can't see it. They will learn now. Plenty of schools in the area have had horses over the years. There was a reason for the consistent success and it wasn't just the athletes. The slow degradation cometh and the legacy is about to fade. It will be slow enough that it'll be gone before people realize it. Like anything else, all good things must come to an end.
