Coach Peevey will compete for a state title next year with the help of new, fast players. They will be fun to watch. He'll have athletes at LCM like never seen before. I'm just ready to see where all the kids transfer from at the end of the year. I'm glad Newton does not have LCM on their schedule next year.

Sometimes its harder to win at small schools because the talents can ebb and flow something fierce...Gordon Wood and GA Moore never coached at the highest level but I think both sit on the Mt Rushmore of TXHSFB Coaches for sure...especially Wood who did it for an incredibly long time and in an area when only one team made the playoffs....Wood would have probably racked up well over 450 wins if he didnt miss the bulk of 3 seasons due to military service in WWII and there were several years his teams were really, really good but finished 2nd in district and missed the playoffs 1951: 9-1 1954: 9-1 1957: 8-2 1961: 8-1-1 1963: 8-2 1966: 8-2 1973: 9-1 1975: 8-2 Eight seasons of eight wins and not making the playoffs...gotta think a few playoff wins woulda happened in those years

Journalism (well at least sports journalism has changed) because newspapers were slow to adapt to the digital world, that combined with massively reduced revenue streams have forced most small papers out of business and bigger papers to get swallowed up by corporate congolomerates who slash the budgets even more.....what really killed the newspaper was the loss of classified ad revenue...when that stuff went onlint to Craig's List etc...its absolutely gutted a massive revenue stream for newspapers and they never adapted/recovered

No hurt feelings here. My comments are strictly regarding their chances to even make the playoffs. Deep runs and such aren't really relevant here because you're comments are focused on the top couple teams of the district. It's not common that 3 or 4 teams from any district are typically advancing past the first round. Last year's results are a prime example, two teams from each district advanced one round. So to revisit my comments, I believe that when you go to the 4th and 5th teams in particular in District 10, I feel that they are good teams making it even harder for them to try and get into the playoffs with such a young team.

That's big talk. May wanna crawl before you walk with that prediction. I hope you're right... but a lot happens in 4 years and a lot of teams around the state can play.

Buchanan at Aledo is probably already up there in Gordon Wood, GA Moore territory....267 wins and 7 titles is incredible...the 4 years he was AD Aledo from 2014-2018, Aledo went 75-4 w/3 titles....got to wonder if he added those 75 wins and 3 titles to the resume if he'd be considered the best of all-time to this point we are talking 342 wins and 10 state titles going into this season If Surratt stays at Carthage long enough he'll be in the talks....189-29 fifteen years in and 8/8 in state title games....he's probably gonna get to 200 this year and they are the favorites to win number nine this season

After last week this thread is a dude. Any Baytown Lee fans want to give us a break down on thier game with LaPorte? All I know is they seem pretty balanced being a little heavy on the run game. They seem to love rolling the WB out , so he has the option to pass or tuck and run. They also got a couple of small backs with speed.

Absolutely but loving it for these kids considering where we were this time last year. At this point last season I wasn't sure that Tarkington would still have a football program by the end of the year(obvious exaggeration but it was as dismal as it could get).

They’ve had a nearly 100% black football team for years and years. They had “favorable” demographics when they weren’t very good. Along came Aymond, and they became good. Under Kay, they are great. The best program in Texas. The demographics on the team didn’t change. If anything, the hispanic population of the school has increased, and has ballooned their school enrollment, but most likely hasn’t aided in football participation. Open enrollment doesn’t hurt, no doubt. But I don’t think it would matter if Beaumont had open enrollment, or only had 1 high school, they are so far behind GPNS in football, whether it be culture, coaching, or talent, that they couldn’t compete.

Galena Park isn’t the only school district that has open enrollment, and North Shore isn’t the only school that has favorable demographics to be dominate in football. Give Coach Kay and his staff all the credit. His teams are extremely physical, tough, and very well coached. They are as equally physical on offense as they are on defense. Most schools are not. That program is much better from the Aymond days.
