He also had a day like a combine. Where many college coaches/scouts would come evaluate talent at Central. But not just Central. Kids from all over the area got a chance too. That always stood out to me. That he cared enough for another schools player to get a chance. Even if it meant one of his player didn't get a scholarship. That says a lot about him.

Toby has sent something like 30-40 kids to school on FULL RIDES. He is very involved with the track program which anybody will tell you, a good track team correlates to a good football team. He is well connected and respected by college coaches.

Right on. I heard Hickman was going to be the next HC at WOS back in 2020. How can that be when Thompson hadn't even decided to retire, yet? We SHOULD NOT be rebuilding. I keep hearing that. We had a ton of talent returning. This should have been a continuation, not a rebuilding.

I'm 42 and I enjoy high school football but I have to much other stuff going on to get that fired up about wins and loses. Its amateur sports. I support Silsbee to the core but man I will never make a video about how displeased I am about the program.

I'm thinking bigNed better bring their "A" game the Broncos are looking to bully their way into post season... Don't use FBW as any kind of a gauge they probably won't win a game this year.

That's how it is here. Mainly because of the success from former HOF coaches. Generations of kids have grown up learning the system and giving 112% to it. Now their kids and grandkids have to go thru this. There are so many alumni that would have loved this golden, oops, it's a SILVER & BLUE opportunity. But never had a chance. The backroom deals that everyone, even people here that know H, seemed to know about even before a list of applicants was public was a joke. Remember this article... [Hidden Content] I feel bad for Hickman. He could've avoided this. We believed that was his intention.

I cannot condone this, but I understand his pov. Yep. It's like that. What he says he means. No lie, he has done everything that he said. And will continue to push this issue. I know all the people he spoke on. And all of them I've spoke with agree. I had a 5 minute speech prepared too. Should've been right there behind Eric and Doobie. But life happened that day and I couldn't get my voice heard for those I represent. Most of us all jumped on the bandwagon and supported everyone in hopes that the man would continue the historic tradition that is WOS Football. Now that is in question. Record in 2018 was also 2-3 after the 1st 5 games. But we saw progress, halftime adjustments, changes for the better. For those that want to wait til after district, or after the playoffs, or after basketball season, or after graduation, or after another 6 years here. To decide if it's gonna work. Hey I'll be here then too. Like KT said have a good Saturday, at least what's left of it.

We look forward to matching up with BigNed and PNG and being guests of honor for their Home Coming I'm sure.Our offense is very good and proven enough to compete with any team in the district ! (our defense had 4 picks last game) We'll see how everything shakes out but we plan on making the play'offs.

When you are truly part of the program in-and-out you don't have to wait until district starts you know 1st hand, outsiders can wait to after district

Were you at the meetings when WOS had a C rating in 2019 (no ratings the last two years with COVID), but had a better football team? Or is the B they got in 2022 only a problem because the football team is struggling? Honest question. Because if you ask me, bringing their academic rating up from a C to a B despite the challenges of learning through COVID is quite an accomplishment, and should be celebrated.

I know. Its been a strategy at wos for years. They got speedy guys on the edge. I honestly think it works most of the time. Making big money as in his school pay check? because imo WOS does not pay their coaches well. My wos friends wanted Toby. But i think there could have been several other coaches that would have done a great job.

If I am not working or busy with my daughters health care, I intend to. Be at the WOCCISD Board meeting Sept 30, to voice my discontent at how our School District did not attain top level scholastic ratings, and the train wreck of the WOS football program, both are the responsibility of Ricky Harris. I encourage all of you concerned, to be there too. I have written a letter and emailed it to all the board members. If any of you would like to see it, pm me.

I guess you should admire his passion. Some people leave their schools and completely forget about their hometowns and couldn't care less about the kids now playing for their former teams. Just give it the rest of this year at least to see what happens.

I would like to see dedicated feeder schools for each HS. Then the head coaches at said HS can put their systems at the lower levels. From what I understand, there were some shenanigans concerning old SPMS and now it's Peatzch-McArthur which those kids were lost to United for a bit. If and when BISD gets this settled, then you will see a more consistent product on the field NS could loss 1000 kids to GP High and still run the region. They are that! Didn’t mean it as a slight. Proof what a great coach can do for a program. My father coached with Thomas Brooks at Ozen, and against Arthur Louis Ozen teams while he was at TJ. Those Ozen teams alone could beat the current United teams with Ozen and Central kids. Sad for the kids. They are getting cheated.

Their is a term used in both Texas criminal and civil law. It is “material” or “materiality”. So while a person might not be exactly truthful, would it have any real bearing on the case or issue. If I am giving a statement to the police about some incident that I witnessed like a murder, and during the questioning the office asked, what were you doing at the time? Let’s say I told the officer I was coming back from the beach and I caught the biggest redfish of my life while I was there. Let’s say I gave a completely true statement about what I witnessed in the murder but lied about the biggest fish of my life. Would that be material as part of the investigation? Or being a banker, what if on a loan application a person said he makes about $150,000 a year gross? During a search of the records it was determined that he only made $145,000 a year on average. Is that really material? What if he claimed $500,000? So while a bank might not be a victim, if a person grossly exaggerated his worth, it could still be a law violation in falsifying a document…. depending on state law.
