    Despicable DeSantis

So, in 2012 freshman congressman Rick DeSantis voted no on a bill to supplemental aide for New Jersey after hurricane Sandy, implying that people without flood insurance are fiscally irresponsible and it was not right for the federal government to bail out the unfortunate. Now, it happens in his state and he runs hat in hand to President Biden and Congress asking for that which he opposed 10 years ago. He couldn’t say enough good about the nonpartisan help he’s received from Biden on Tucker Carlson the other night. Despicable, I say. That $12,000,000 taxpayer money he spent sending asylum seekers from Texas to Massachusetts would sure buy a bunch of bottles of water for his constituents. Looks like he could starve his constituents and not lose any votes, so long as he didn’t starve them to death. Vote Democrat!

  3. Hats off Dayton. Its been a long time coming. I have always believed that Nederland and Dayton having winning programs is good for our area. The tougher the district the better the playoffs teams will be. Best of luck to both teams.

Without doing to much research typically Congress both Democrat and Republican love to add all kinds Pork Projects into an Aid Bill. Then when Congressmen or Women don’t vote for it the other side says look he doesn’t care about the victims. Lol. One of the oldest tricks in the book when it comes to Congress but please be outraged UT. 😂

  9. Agree and disagree. How do you explain all the other district titles in Crosby’s history? How do you explain the state Semis last yr? Idk if you know or not but a lot of those kids have/had roots here before. Specifically to Barrett Station. Wouldn’t dare speak on Branch’s offers because I have zero incite and as an adult won’t spread hearsay. I will say you seem to forget that the transfer portal was all the buzz his senior yr. The QB from SOC had zero offers the RB from Aledo had zero offers. But I digress. I still feel that CHS will run the district again in the near future just like they ran their district(s) before. Whether kids move here to add to the winning tradition or we continue to produce homegrown talent.

  10. It's hard to believe that a full year has passed since last year's contest but here we are again! The UIL Region 10 Marching Band Contest will be held Saturday October 15, 2022 at Port Neches-Groves HS Stadium. The schedule released today shows 30 bands competing to earn that coveted Division 1 rating and the chance to move on to state competition.Admission is $5 to get in.I do plan to attend and record all the bands as my brother and I have diligently tried since 2006. If y'all want, come say hi to me as I battle the weather elements and try to get the best video/audio recordings of our local high school bands. Now that things are getting back to some sort of normalcy, advancement past region to area/state competition will be for class 2A, 4A, and 6A schools only. Keep in mind that we have separate open class (contemporary-style) and military class tracks for state marching band contest. Some of my thoughts: - With the recent UIL alignment for 2022-2024, a few schools have shifted classifications compared to last year: Corrigan-Camden 2A from 3A, Orangefield 3A from 4A, Beaumont United 6A from 5A.- Some schools missing from last year (2021) include Port Arthur Memorial. Hudson (outside Lufkin) has not participated since 2018.- Woodville returns to marching contest after a 3-year absence - Again this year, Beaumont United and West Brook High Schools are competing as Non-Varsity Bands; they will not be able to advance to area or state even if they earn a Division 1 rating. From my understanding "newer" schools like Beaumont United usually start out as non-varsity for music programs. I am not sure with West Brook the process to request Non-Varsity status. Per the UIL Handbook: Varsity Waiver. At the option of the music director and local school administration and with the approval of the UIL State Director of Music, music organizations representing new music programs, and music organizations committed to the process of establishing a viable music program may enter as non-varsity in the conference to which they are assigned until such time that the organization earns a Division I rating in concert performance. Pending request from local school administration and with the approval of the UIL State Director of Music the requirement to return to varsity status may be waived until such time that local school administration requests varsity status. - With all the classification changes, only three 5A bands are left in our region, As it stands, we have 3-2A, 10-3A, 12-4A, 3-5A, 2-6A bands participating.Best wishes to all participating bands as they finish learning their music/drill and polishing up their shows in the next 2 weeks.

What little I’ve seen of them, you’ll be surprised. These new rules have them afraid of contact - Offense & Defense. I hope you’re right & I’m wrong. Be great to see the Pirates play like they have in the past. Got a Soph RB who can burn if he gets a hole. Just hope for a good game with no injuries on either side.

  19. Don’t let unrealistic expectations from others on message boards lead you to disparaging a 15 year old kid. Kid is good, he didn’t call himself top 10 in the nation. He just shows up and works and is a very very good prospect. Even in a loss last night, you could see that. Dischler is also quite the player. No need to step on one in order to elevate the other.

  20. The dance sponsor at Ozen was the same one that started at BU. She likes to have about 7 girls on the dance team, so the tryouts are rigorous. And they have cuts every week. So you’ll probably see a new group of girls each week. So the numbers for the dance team is not down. Band? Definitely yes. BU had like 90 kids out for band when BU opened in 2018. Now I counted like 23 kids. But the numbers at WB are severely down. Many people blame Covid for that. I don’t know. But as far as I know, the football team had some pretty good numbers to start the season. At least more than the previous coach.

  26. Open enrollment back in the 2000s is a big reason for West Brook's surge in football. I was zoned to Central because I grew up and lived in the north end but open enrollment made transferring to Brook easy. A lot of star WB guys back in the 2000s would have been at Ozen and Central if zoned schools were mandatory at the time.

  27. I think Dayton has a legitimate shot at winning the district. Their O-line is huge. They have a legit QB. They have a legit RB. They have a couple of good WR. Their defense is tenacious.

  30. By the numbers, we still won't be able to compete in this district... Not in football anyway. Basketball might be our only shot... But then there's Atascocita and schools like Duncanville you still have to go through. So... That's not guaranteed. Baseball... Nope! Soccer Nope! Everything else... Nope-Nope!! Unless there's the perfect storm... and you happen to have the right talent on the team at the right time... It's just not gonna happen. Atascocita still ran the score up in the 2nd half against Westbrook using their bench. Their bench!!! The schools outside of the Golden Triangle have ungodly numbers... They're steadily growing out there. They have the budgets and the resources to build new schools... And they still can't keep up. People aren't necessarily breaking their necks to move here. The coaches are able to hand pick 2 or more superstars for each position in Humble. The average athlete doesn't make the team. We don't have that kind of turn out. One school's gonna give us more troubles than we already have. Perhaps we should try putting academics at the top instead of football. That seems to be our biggest problem.

  34. All those kids was my son's classmate until we transferred him (for academic reasons LOL) to Sterling Aviation High School in HISD. So I had a front row seat and seen all those kids for several years. My son played sports along side all the 2021 kids, but we focused on the 40 year plan and not the 4 year plan. Unfortunately they fell into a coaching change and didn't get the scholarships they rightfully deserved. It's hard to believe you compete for a 5A state title and only 1 kid go on to a D1 school (sources say he came from Goose Creek with that offer/interest already). It was COVID time, so academics should not have been the excuse, SAT/ACT and many other admission requirements were waived etc.... As I sat in the stands and watched the game last night, PA is a good team but Crosby would have beat them with Myles and Fontenot suited up. Good luck to all programs as they continue to compete for those playoff spots.

  36. I agree he is legit as well. The true test comes in the playoffs when he'll meet some solid secondaries. He'll win most 1v1 if Brisbane can put it close. Good news is Brisbane's timing looks exceptional with the other receivers. Keep improving on the run blocking and it'll be lights out by playoffs.

  37. As an HF fan, I’m happy with the direction the program is going. Waggoner seems to be getting the most out of this team the last few seasons. 8-4 last year, with two of those loses being by 1 point to Silsbee and to Carthage in the playoffs, and 4-2 this year with 1-score losses to two really good teams. HF is pretty unlucky to be in a district with Jasper, Silsbee, AND WOS. That’s how a team who’s good enough to finish 2nd in most district ends up 4th, and out in the 1st round of the playoffs

  38. You're preaching to the choir, unlike you though I don't cry after every game win or lose, are they flawed? Oh yeah no doubt, I guarantee I've been to more PAM games in the last 10 years than just about anyone in this site, I don't need you to tell me their history in the playoffs the last few years, I was there to see it with my own eyes each time.

  44. I thought this was a basically open forum where THOUGHTS could be expressed? OMG its not like the guy dropped a bunch of F-bombs or called the coaches a bunch of nasty names. He said "Perspective and In my opinion". I have no idea if the guy is right or wrong, or somewhere in between, but shouldn't the guy get some latitude here? Some hear are WAY too sensitive. Heck I just got cussed by a very well known poster here and I didn't even blink.

  45. You are correct 409. The OLB's look like they could play defensive end, but then again so do the ones that are playing there already! I did see #0 cover down the field about 30 yards and make an unbelievable jumping deflection in the end zone. One of the most impressive things I've seen from somebody that big.
