PNG is the best team we've faced all year on both sides of the ball. They might shut our offense down and we may go up in flames - very possible. But I hope we have a good enough team and enough talent to trade punches to make this a very competitive and fun game.We shall see when purple friday gets here ! GO BRONCOS !!!5 points -

Goose Creek needs to let Lee play in their correct division. We see how much Crosby has struggled moving up a division Just thinking about how much better Lee could do in their correct division down with Dayton and the like. Lee already has low turn out for their enrollment, then making them play up a division to keep them with the other Baytown schools is detrimental and probably cost them two playoff appearances now last year and this. Good game Barbers Hill. Lee with just too many mistakes back to back to back in the second quarter. Three turnovers within 5 minutes.3 points -

I think the head to head has LCM leading Vidor by about two wins… I guess this website is about 20 years old and it’s probably been that long since LCM won 😂 … so I don’t think anyone is acting like we won state… we just did what we do.. and that’s win against LCM… nothing to see here Vidor has matched up with Lumberton about 30 times and I think Lumberton has won maybe 6 or 7 of those games… This is one of the few years Vidor will play Lumberton as the underdog… hopefully Vidor can control the time of possession like they did last Friday with LCM. Lumberton is the real deal this year.3 points -
Last year’s great first season set the bar pretty high. Expectations were very high. I’m quite certain if you asked Peevey, he would take full responsibility for player flatness, too aggressive play calling, etc. I also think he’s disappointed with the record so far and not blaming it on the players or a lack of talent. You can bet he’s working on improvement now and not looking for excuses. Matthew’s upped his game after a disappointing start to the season and will continue to through the rest of the season (even though some so called fans were ready to run him out of town.) Both fan bases need to be patient with their good coaches and support the programs.3 points

I think the decline will get worse. The discipline, toughness, conditioning, will all further decline as the years go by. It was gonna be hard to replace CT with just anyone. It was gonna take an extensive, open-minded, state wide search for the best. They didn’t do that, and they will continue to pay the consequences.3 points -

From the film, it looks like Dayton should come in confident. I’m hoping for a png win, of course, but Dayton has several tall receivers, an at-least-better-than-normal qb, and seems to be a “complete” team. No reason they can’t win on Friday. I think it comes down to png’s defense and Dayton’s offense. I don’t know if Dayton has faced a good offense. Png offense isn’t like a Faircloth offense, but we move the ball and have found ways to score. But png’s D is showing it can play. Even against fort bend Marshall, we made plays we haven’t made in previous years. So I think if png shows up and plays good defense, they likely find enough ways to score and win in a one-score game. I don’t know if Dayton has a good D. I know they shut out Nederland, but it’s hard to say what that means this year. If Dayton has a weak D, I’m more confident in PNg. But pNg has been (1) mistake-prone on special teams and (2) reliably going to throw at least one interception a game. Dayton can capitalize on a few stolen possessions and take this one from png. As for Dayton’s O, this may be the game they show they are way better than we’ve even thought. If they can match png’s D, png won’t have the offense to keep up. This one is a true toss-up to me.2 points

You folks know what’s great about HS Football? For several months a year we get away from divisive politics and all that goes with it. On the back burner goes the hate, name calling, inflation, crime and all that goes with it. We get to see our young men & women play ball, cheer, march in the band. With (mostly) good natured ribbing among the adults. So as we post here and watch the games on Friday night, give thanks we still have this little bit of americana to enjoy.1 point -

Tell me which statement is true: 1. WOS players aren’t smart enough to learn a new system 2. A new coach should never implement his own system, just follow what they had before 3. Change is bad and even though it may produce good results down the road, we should never try anything new 4. Coaches (especially new head coaches) are human and subject to error, but we should bash them no matter what because they aren’t allowed any grace period to prove themselves 5. Football is more important than education, that’s why we slam the coaches so much but allow sub-standard academic results in our schools1 point -

He is Coming from Manvel where kicking deep is to a stud every week in that district. WOS beat us one year by us fumbling that pooch kick So it has its merits as far as special teams, we have had poor special teams for quite some years now. Imo it has not been a major point of emphasis. i like that he is a good man and trying to teach the young men about life and football. I think he and bronson certainly have the support of football families with so many personal connections. as far as x’s and o’s. Offense has quite a ways to go, but i like the scheme. Defense is salty.1 point -

I’ve gone on record saying I think L-town is over ranked at 7. I still believe that. That being said, they do have a very good team, top-15 or 20 IMO. The #7 team in the state should beat vidor by a lot. I don’t think that happens, but they should win this game by a couple of touchdowns. If it’s in that range, or closer, I’ll stand by my assessment of them. If it’s a blowout I’ll reconsider some.1 point -

I have been very critical of the vidor coaching staff this yr, but I will always call it as I see it. With that being said I think the change in personal made vidor a much better team and it showed on Friday night. Lumberton is a very good football team and will be a tough test but we are much better than we was earlier in the yr should be a good game1 point -

Miller played the 4th in the Huffman, Nederland and Brazosport games along with the WO-S game. Only game the starters were pulled before 4th was the HJ game. As for WO-S game and "feelings"? The score was 31-27 going into 4th Q, so Miller was needed in the 4th. Nothing about "feelings".1 point -

I understand that you have your opinion as do I. Big plays with some trickery cost Hemphill. Newton did not sustain long drives as I thought they would. Please don't let my comments and opinion offend you. I like Newton and will be supporting them through the playoffs..... I was just making a generalize comment relating to the fact that outside of the turnovers amd trick plays that this was a closer (closer being the key word) game than the score indicated. Newton is awesome, my comment wasn't directed at Newton. It was directed at Hemphill, it's players, and fans. I was attempting to be encouraging to those folks. I'd hate to see 1 defeat, to a superior team, deflate momentum and defuse enthusiasm....... sorry if you took that any other way.1 point -

This will be a good game. PNG should win if we ever get the passing game going. Cole is really suffering from not having Faircloth and lack of QB coaching to work out the small mechanical issues.1 point -
This. I don’t know Coach Hickman but wish him all the best. I felt for him from the beginning. It’s so tough to replace a legend and he’s following two of those. But the amount of complaining I heard about Coach T for years was both hilarious and sad. Those who obviously will complain about ANYONE can really use those Karen megaphones now.1 point

CardinalBacker reacted to bullets13 for a topic
Bellville doesn’t want them first round. It’s been a tough year, but WOS is loaded with talent. IF they figure some stuff out, they’re still a tough out for anyone who has to face them in the playoffs. WOS always plays an incredibly tough pre-district schedule, but this would’ve been a good year to scale it back some and give the kids a chance to succeed while learning some new schemes. It’s a possibility that with getting to play HJ and BC in 2 of their last 3 games they get some momentum going into the playoffs. And WOS absolutely could beat Jasper as well. Jasper squeaked by HF and lost worse to Newton than WOS did. Finish on a 3-0 run and maybe find a little success in the playoffs. I know it’s been a rough transition year for the stangs, but they still have all the potential in the world on that team. Time will tell.1 point -

WOS should rehire CT as superintendent, then they would have one that can actually get on the sidelines and know what needs to be done. The super is ultimately responsible, evidently this one has made some poor decisions. The kids are the ones that are suffering the consequences.1 point -
West orange never has a down year like this. I may be wrong , but we’d have to go back 30-40 years to find a west orange team losing like this. When they lost to png I thought, “ok, png might just be better than we thought and are finally playing defense.” When they lost to Silsbee I thought, “well of course - Silsbee has one of the best players in the state and is probably going to go at least five rounds this year.” Then they kept losing. And they keep losing on absolutely terrible offensive production and non-existent defense. This kind of self-destruction is unheard of for west orange. It may amount to just a down year, but that it’s happening at all is weird. A down year for west orange used to mean district champs and a second or third round exit. Now it means losing to Hampshire Fannet ? This season is a historic dip for that program1 point
