I've said for a long time, that we (PNG) should have nothing to do with Cherokees. If anything we should be Caddoes or Karankawas; or Commanches perhaps. But if all else fails I wouldn't mind adopting "Welders" as a mascot. There's lots of possibilities with The Welders. Same number of letters, etc. "W -E -L -D- E- R- S, tack 'em Welders tack 'em!"3 points

Been around Nederland sports since late 80's, cousin played db on '88 team David Walker. My wife is a '87 Ned grad. met her in '96, married in '97. She's a 30 year great NISD math teacher at C.O. WILSON JR. High. Nederland coaches know me, personal friends not so much, maybe 1 might say he likes me, most of the school coaches probably don't care for me from my non participating role in the sucking up program to get kids playing time. Had a few nephews play football & baseball for Nederland High(2008-2015), 2 sons play football\baseball & basketball(2015-2019) & 2 nephews in 9th grade playing football\basketball & baseball rt. now. I flipped my car on the way to work a few years ago. A woman (without Insuance) did an illegal turn in front of me, causing my car to end up on its roof. I was in my police uniform otw to work. The significance of that was, my uniform pocket had Velcro closure’s. They looked like button down pockets but were made that way for easy access while at work. In my right shirt pocket I carried my notepad, Miranda card and a Saint Michael laminated card. I am not Catholic but St. Michael is seen as the patron saint of police officers. After I was crawling out of my overturned vehicle, my St. Michael card was on the ground outside of my car and facing toward me. My pocket was still closed with Velcro and everything else was still in it. It wasn’t an illusion and I wasn’t suffering from hypoxia. Coincidental? People can draw their own conclusions. And my few weeks old car was totaled.2 points -

The thing is, I plan on attending this game since Texan Live will not be broadcasting this game. Was going to stay down here on the beach and watch it. Now I'll probably make the short drive up and watch it from the sidelines. This will make my 6th homecoming game to attend this year. SMH I hate homecoming games.1 point -

I’m just speaking on the Slot T part …. I think it’s a bad matchup for the Yoe defense. I was at the Bellville vs Yoe game. I don’t think that Yoe would lose to them but I don’t think it’s a blowout by any means.1 point -

Well, here are the facts. Nederland lost a good part of their upper classmen due to whatever reason. They are relying on sophormore (15-16 yr olds) to toe the line. Coaches are in unfamiliar territory here. They're doing the best they can. I've watched most all the games. Are there bone head mistakes. Heck yea. But they are going out each Friday night and competing. They know they are not making the playoffs. But they can't wait to put on that gold helmet with Old English N on it.1 point -

I have completed editing all the video recordings of the contest. I did my best to remove the wind but my external audio recorded did not work properly on a few of the bands, hence the strong wind noise. You can all view them here on my YouTube Channel: It starts off with Jasper but you can find a school's band by looking at the playlist. Everyone enjoy!1 point -

Ole spidey is dealing with some long term Nederland Football jealousy, built up anger & mental anguish caused by incidents that did not go his or her way in the past to be ranting negatively on coaches, players & fans for so many years. I have offered support & an ear to talk about this hate issue. But can't seem to get thru to spidey to even sit at some games to talk football or even put his or her name on one of the many negative posts, so maybe someone in the setxsports or Nederland community can get him or her over this hurtful & tramatic bulldog experience.1 point -

One or two - same hallucination - maybe. But here we’re talking 3 - plus - then 6 - all the same hallucinations, at two different times? I have to admit I’m not familiar with group hallucinations, so I’m not buying it. They “saw” the same thing. Could be holograms or creation via mental telepathy. I guess something we don’t even know about, but I don’t buy hallucinations.1 point -

Newton vs Kountze
EAGLEFOREVER reacted to CardinalBacker for a topic
I’m just stating the obvious. If Newton wants to crow about beating bigger schools, they have to admit that they wouldn’t have any hardware if they actually had to face bigger schools once district started. They literally have a couple of scrimmages, some decent competition in non-district, then about ten more scrimmages until they get to about the third round. Then they beat three or four teams nobody has ever even heard of and celebrate like they won a true state championship. Forgive my trolling, please, sir. I don’t have anything else to talk about this year.1 point -
Newton vs Kountze
EAGLEFOREVER reacted to CardinalBacker for a topic
Newton can beat up on a lot of 4a teams… but they still get handled whenever an Orangefield or Bridge City puts a decent squad together. There’s no shame in the fact that they are competitive with mediocre bigger schools and should be proud that once in a while they can even beat a decent bigger school. Facts are facts though… Newton would have exactly zero Regional Final wins if they’d been playing in 4AD11, much less SCs. Their accomplishments are cute, but don’t compare to the big boys. And BC would have more state championships than Carthage if we played down in 3A d2.1 point -

Silsbee QB Mason Brisbane and LB Jayron Williams
BADSANTA reacted to AggiesAreWe for a topic
If Silsbee makes it to regional finals and Brisbane keeps this pace up, he most likely will pass up Thomas on passing yards and possibly passing TD's for the season. Dontre was a duel threat so he had over 1400 yards rushing that year along with 3600 passing yards. He had a total of 71 TD's (rushing, passing). Mason doesn't run the ball. As for accuracy, Thomas was around 60% for the season. Another Tiger QB that was pretty accurate was Kelson McDaniel. He completed 65% for 2550 yards and 25 TD's his senior season. If all goes well, I can see Brisbane getting around 3600 yards passing with 35+ TD's. Fingers crossed.1 point -

Livingston at Vidor (HOCO)
Tim Riggins reacted to Dat Brook for a topic
Two totally different teams, Vidor will pound and pound and pound the ball controlling the clock and your possessions. Not the biggest or fastest opponent but they play hard with good fundamentals. The slot T's weakness comes to light if a team can stop them for three to four straight possessions and take advantage. The worse situation you could be running that offense is being down two+ scores with time not on your side. Livingston has a ton of speed and size but they lack in fundamentals with their special teams killing them in the game against the Bears. Livingston needs to win this game more than Vidor does if they don't want to face CHill or Kilgore in the first round. Should be a good game1 point -
Another Game Battle: Santa Fe at home needing wins to make the playoffs. This could be a tough fight to the end. PNG must play at their best on defense & limit Santa Fe points. PNG Indian offense needs to establish the run, pound away at that other Indian defense. It should be another great district game!!!🏈1 point

Let me let in on something abt the one play that got us down there for Russell terkel to kick the fg.that pass wasn't intended for pup(#26)Kevin smith.pass was under thrown.tremaine Lewis couldn't step into it bcz of the pressure.it was for #29 Julian richard.i guess a lil luck is all u need sometimes.i was the opposite wr on the other side.remember it like yesterday. And I hope that ppl never forget how gud Silsbee was that year.i guarantee u if we wouldn't have won it all.silsbee or jasper would have bcz they were that gud.and the crazy thing abt it is Silsbee didn't make the playoffs that yr.they were 8-2.lost to us and jasper. Two top 5 teams in the state.goes to show u how gud the district was back then.and Silsbee and jasper probably was the 2 fastest teams in the state!!1 point

I was a Freshman the year that the infamous 3-0 game at the "Alamo" ( which by the way for those who may not know was won by the Blue&Silver ) I literally felt exhausted when the game ended as did alot of fans from both side cause we all were so into the games it generated such an electric type atmosphere that just drained the mind, body and soul. As a player I personally had the fortune and misfortune of playing in a couple of those clashes during those early years of our new found rivalry.1 point -
