what about in 1894? Lawd Jesus who played them that year? I hadn't a clue that any Texas highschool was playing ball in the 1890s. Knew there was very early 1900s teams but wow! lol2 points -
We scored a single 4th quarter TD... We put up 62 in three quarters, if your complaining about that then get better defense.2 points

Yes. This is actually true. No more North Shore vs BISD. Or Newton vs Kountze. Paraphrasing an old retired coach. "Sorry guys, the easy girls have left already." The metrics for choosing games have gotten tighter as the season goes. Playoffs should be interesting too.1 point -

I like what you have stated. It's easy to complain but hard to offer solutions. But there's the rub. People have differing opinions on what the problems are therefore they have different opinions on the solutions. My thoughts on the problem is well documented. I'm just trying to decide when the best time to make personal contact with the Superintendent and board members and express my opinion. I suggest anyone that feels the same way I do make the same contacts and express those opinions. And to be fair, if you don't think changes need to be made then make the contacts and express your opinion. PS -- Just to reiterate for everyone here -- I'll never blame the kids!!1 point -

They beat Lee in the playoffs both of those years haha.1994 Lee had a chance but they just couldn't stop Ball/Humphrey. Lee had beaten Eisenhower in the first round which was quite an accomplishment for a Lee team that was 0-10 two years earlier. They put it on Lee by 40 in 1999. That game is actually on YouTube not that I want to see it. Or maybe just the highlights, can't recall.1 point -

They question is what changes need to be done to correct some of these issues, yes we all have opinions @spidersal, but what needs to be done for them to win? I think each kid has a certain talent that can be contributed to the team, are they young? Yes but leadership starts at the TOP ( coaches). MY OPINION IS it’s not about the kids no more, and that goes to any other sport. If you never put in a position to win then what you expect. I put my whole life savings if you get new staff with a desire and passion for the game, you will see a HUGE difference and this is speaking from EXPERIENCE!!! Sooo let’s talk about what changes need that needs to Happen?1 point -
Verlander’s breaking ball is off the charts. Good grief, I’d be twisted up like a pretzel trying to hit that thing (back in my heyday). I’d go for the bunt, lmbo.1 point

This group of kids are young and still trying to catch up to the speed of the Varsity game ( Some better than others), but the biggest concern for me is the attitude of the players. I've seen multiple kids throw/slam helmets with no correction from coaches and very poor body language coming from Seniors which is terrible leadership for the under classman. I understand that emotions get high and this season is aggravating for the kids, but attitude and body language by upper classman ultimately feeds into the under classman and I'm sure that's not the direction this program wants to head.1 point

I agree & that was discussed a few weeks back as to one the factors of Nederlands struggles. Several of the soph's would have been on varsity getting exp. as back ups with a couple starting this year not the 6 to 8 starting, even without others deciding not to play. It's all good tho, this year went south, just got to finish out the year playing hard. All that's happened this year should make these guys coming back mentally tougher & better team next year. Nederland should also have 7 to 8 starters back the next couple years on both sides of the ball, plus all those other young guys that should be on "JV" are getting varsity game reps this year & a solid freshmen group will add solid depth. I also think the coaching staff believes in these players, will be very motivated to get back to winning games & back in the playoffs next year. Stay positive with the young dawgs my friend, being negative & angry all the time will give you a stroke. Mike Hiltz1 point -

Well KF89 and other posters I think I have finally realized why the Bulldogs are having such a bad season Due to several players quitting at the beginning of this season the majority of players that they still have should have been on the JV team so this season the Bulldogs are having to play a varsity schedule with mainly a JV roster1 point -

or was it 94 & 1999 ? in 1998 they were 10-2 then in 99 they went 12-2. yes sir 1994 is a good example of a team having 5 losses and still making a very deep run. The Tornadoes were 9-5-1. The tie being the one you spoke of.1 point -

A verry good friend of mine moved from Jasper a couple years ago, and Ball is loving her son play linebacker for them! Honestly, I wish they would not have moved. Lol. He & TyAnthony would be a dynamic force! You right they haven't played worldbeaters, but no matter what level that still pretty damn good! I personally thank you @bullets13for giving them some recognition ! Mad at myself for not having done so. The first game of the year they gave up 7 pts to Lamarque and that's it. They have outscored opponents 347-7. LETS GO TORNADOES!!! (btw, that's the perfect team name for what they have done to teams)1 point -

Under the helm of Regina Land Snell, this is the 15th straight district championship for Hardin. Not only that, this is the 22nd year of playoffs for Regina since she started at Hardin in 1999. Out of those 22 years, 19 were district championships.1 point

Well, here are the facts. Nederland lost a good part of their upper classmen due to whatever reason. They are relying on sophormore (15-16 yr olds) to toe the line. Coaches are in unfamiliar territory here. They're doing the best they can. I've watched most all the games. Are there bone head mistakes. Heck yea. But they are going out each Friday night and competing. They know they are not making the playoffs. But they can't wait to put on that gold helmet with Old English N on it.1 point -

I flipped my car on the way to work a few years ago. A woman (without Insuance) did an illegal turn in front of me, causing my car to end up on its roof. I was in my police uniform otw to work. The significance of that was, my uniform pocket had Velcro closure’s. They looked like button down pockets but were made that way for easy access while at work. In my right shirt pocket I carried my notepad, Miranda card and a Saint Michael laminated card. I am not Catholic but St. Michael is seen as the patron saint of police officers. After I was crawling out of my overturned vehicle, my St. Michael card was on the ground outside of my car and facing toward me. My pocket was still closed with Velcro and everything else was still in it. It wasn’t an illusion and I wasn’t suffering from hypoxia. Coincidental? People can draw their own conclusions. And my few weeks old car was totaled.1 point -
