  1. That sounds horrible. We need to push our state legislators to protect our student athletes. Full coverage under the UIL should be the norm. Not just for the gridiron, but all sports for all genders. Dade Phelan should be getting some calls about this.

  2. Nothing is automatic anymore. Sounds like we could make some believers tonight though. I'm looking forward to a tough game tonight like so many our historic past. Getting hot at the right time is key for us this year. Can't be thinking about playoffs. Just know we need to win now.

  10. no sir. there has only been 1 incident that I am aware of that a player pitched a cry baby fit and isn't playing anymore. He had started in the past on the Oline. The young man who filled that role has such a better attitude & work ethic(and may I add is #1 ranked GPA in the Jr class).

  11. Port Arthur Memorial improved to 7-0 overall this season and 5-0 against fellow District 8-5A DI teams by thrashing Baytown Goose Creek Memorial in a 63-13 blowout win during Week 8. The Titans have looked like the team to beat in Southeast Texas during a dominant first two months of the season. Led by senior quarterback Davion Wilson, the Titans have eclipsed 40-point mark five times this season thanks to a dangerous offense that has beaten teams badly on the ground and through the air this year. Port Arthur Memorial is poised to complete an undefeated run to the District 8-5A DI championship after walloping most of its district competition to date. The Titans eked out pivotal district wins in defensive duels against Crosby (20-13) and Porter (18-17) with a 48-7 blowout victory over Baytown Sterling. But since the start of October, however, Port Arthur Memorial has played its two finest games of the year with blowout wins against Goose Creek Memorial and La Porte (54-34). The Titans secured a 20-point road victory against La Porte despite being outgained in terms of total yardage offensively thanks to three combined defensive and special teams touchdowns that made the difference. They also seized the largest victory of the year to date — a 50-point win against Baytown Goose Creek Memorial during Week 8 — after putting up more than 500 total yards of offense in their highest-scoring game of the season. Port Arthur Memorial, which moved up nine spots from No. 40 to 31 in this week's Texas Top 50 power rankings, will look to stay hot this week against Baytown Lee (3-4, 1-4) at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21 , at Stallworth Stadium in Baytown. SBLive’s Texas Top 50 football rankings are compiled by Andrew McCulloch and Buck Ringgold, and are updated weekly throughout the regular season.

Under the helm of Regina Land Snell, this is the 15th straight district championship for Hardin. Not only that, this is the 22nd year of playoffs for Regina since she started at Hardin in 1999. Out of those 22 years, 19 were district championships.

  35. I flipped my car on the way to work a few years ago. A woman (without Insuance) did an illegal turn in front of me, causing my car to end up on its roof. I was in my police uniform otw to work. The significance of that was, my uniform pocket had Velcro closure’s. They looked like button down pockets but were made that way for easy access while at work. In my right shirt pocket I carried my notepad, Miranda card and a Saint Michael laminated card. I am not Catholic but St. Michael is seen as the patron saint of police officers. After I was crawling out of my overturned vehicle, my St. Michael card was on the ground outside of my car and facing toward me. My pocket was still closed with Velcro and everything else was still in it. It wasn’t an illusion and I wasn’t suffering from hypoxia. Coincidental? People can draw their own conclusions. And my few weeks old car was totaled.
