It’s very discerning to see everyone downing the “education” at WOS. There have been and are still excellent teachers on the staff and kids wanting to go further in life get a great education. The problem is that WOS has a larger majority of kids who may be challenged in one way or another and the lack of discipline in the classroom than other schools in the area. The curriculum is there. The ability and desire to learn may be a challenge to some, but it is maddening for some to act like the kids at WOS aren’t being taught. You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink. (Especially in today’s society where everyone is offended by something).4 points

WOS School Board Meeting

You aren't taking into account the fact that the other teams return kids and possibly even improve. Every year. You can look at the comparable results with both Silsbee and HF and tell that they are pretty stinkin good. I personally watched Jasper play and know that they're also loaded with talented, athletic kids. Those are not bad losses for WOS.. I don't care how many returners they have. Calm down. The level of drama coming out of WOS over a few losses to some good teams makes me think that there isn't enough mental fortitude in the community to win any tough playoff games anyway. Cry me a river. The school has more state titles than most SeTx schools will ever have and are still competitive in what is an obvious down year. Give the guy some time before putting a for sale sign in the yard.4 points -

Down years aren't supposed to happen when 16 starters return from a team that went 4 rounds deep in the playoffs though, and especially not with a program that has had this much historical success.3 points -

Perhaps the public nature of this hiring process is an indication of the districts typical process for hiring actual educators. Those that complained about the academics realized it was futile long ago. Teachers left in mass exits. Last I heard they had a $10,000 signing bonus for new teachers. Why would that be?2 points -

Unfortunately.. nobody cares about academic shortfalls in comparison. That's why coaches get away with yelling/cussing at kids but teachers don't. That's why coaches get away with all sorts of physical punishment for behavior and/or missing a practice but teachers don't if a kid refuses to do an assignment or skips class. That's why threads get created about complaining to school boards for gripes about a football coach.. but not about a principal or teachers.2 points -

While whatever student or whoever did this shold be prosecuted in the fullest, Lumberton and more importantly all of the athletes who WOULDN'T do something like this don't deserve to be punished for someone elses actions. You start doing that then maybe you should start prosecuting a common criminals family for what he/she does. Does that make sense?2 points -

Not to mention I believe, iirc, he was there under subpoena (I.e., he didn’t have a choice to NOT attend). And then it’s a matter of answering questions you are asked. I am quite certain he would have probably preferred to be ANYWHERE else on that day.2 points

Don’t know nothing about the kid that was kicked off, other than I’ve heard from several in the community that he was a turd. Two sides to every story. As far as the Carl Broussard story. CT was a character witness. He can only testify as to what he knew the man to be. I’m fairly confident that CT didn’t condone he’s actions and what he was found guilty of. I know Broussard personally, myself. He coached at my high school in 1995, and I ran into him over the years. What he did was beyond reproach, but that’s not the person I knew. To say CT didn’t have morals, and wasn’t a man of a character as some in West Orange want ppl to believe is bull crap. They are reaping what they have sown.2 points

Speaking on Memorial----In bold: that will probably be answered on Friday night and next Thursday. The only other teams that we've played that has a "dynamic offensive scheme" in my opinion is PNG and that was Week-1 and they were going thru the motions in my opinion cause of a new staff bringing them along but they're rolling now and Crosby but they were without the guy that makes that thing go.1 point -

I for one was supporting the program and the new hire saying give him a chance. I never imagined such a spiraling meltdown. Here’s some key points. The new hire was with the program under CT. He must not have been a very good learner. His plan was to change everything that works. At this rate LCM will not be recruiting players. They will be voluntarily lining up. The district has now invested millions into first rate facilities in support of a program that after not even a full season, is no longer first rate. The program has dug a hole that will be difficult to dig out of. I will not criticize Harris for what looks like a poor hire. It happens. How he handles it from this season forward will tell the tale.1 point
