Fort Bend Marshall (21) vs Port Neches-Groves (29) - FINAL
CS. and 3 others reacted to 19Cherokee90 for a topic
If you take away the two costly turnovers that gave FBM 14 points in the ball game on punts this game is a different story. We were way more physical than FBM and they were having players getting taken off the field all night due to the fact. 6-7 times as a matter of fact. Not to mention we also had our QB banged up and take of the field for a few series in this one. If PNG can limit the QB and RBs big plays defensively and play solid coverage down field we can win this game. Gonna need the defense to play inspired football and we need the offense to play a full 2 half's without the 3rd quarter lull we seem to have. If PNG can play all 4 qrts they can beat anyone left in this thing.4 points -

Went to the Katy HS V SC game on Friday. Once again so many schools/towns need to take note. 1. best homemade run through signs. 2. signs on bleachers that cover the whole stadium. 3. no one is sitting on 3rd down. Even up 28. 4. Band plays loudly when on defense. Surpringly I’ve seen plenty that don’t. 5. fans are actually there for opening kickoff. I know this all sounds trivial but it shows you care. I know PNG is right there too. I just ain’t seen them play this year. Can’t wait to see your crowd this week.3 points -

I think most people rightly understand that Fort Bend Marshall is the strong favorite, but know that Port Neches-Groves CAN win if the ball falls their way and they play mistake-free. Stranger things have happened. And, it’s harder to beat a team twice than it is to beat a team once, and PNG only has to win once. Also, PnG got to learn from the loss to FBM. What did FBM learn from PNg? That they were way better than us? Good. Let them come into the game comfortable with that knowledge.2 points

Under Faircloth, we would lose this game no doubt. Heck we would have lost in round 2 this season. Our current coaching staff and the way these young men play under them, every week PNG has a chance to win. Playing FBM early in the season will help our team and coaches a lot. Good luck NDN’s!!2 points

Miller is a great player, but I thought the Tech kid had very good coverage on him much of the night...Miller's first TD I think he did have a step on him, but Brisbane led him perfectly to let Miller go get it w/the step advantage... That 2nd TD was outstanding coverage, it was just a great throw into a tight window....I really enjoyed watching those two go at it.....two outstanding players2 points -

Fort Bend Marshall wanted a smaller stadium to limit the PNG crowd size, but when the FBM fans have PNG fans sitting in their laps and singing Cherokee because there’s no space they’ll be thinking, “This is so much worse.”2 points -
I’m telling you….we’ve seen some good football teams…Kilgore, lindale, gilmer and lumberton could compete with any of them. We were really impressed. CH just really turned it on in the second half. Lumberton would be playing for the district championship for our district this year.2 points

QB has done a good job of making his read and getting rid of the ball, probably dont realize, but Tigers oline gave up the first QB sack for the season Friday night. Thats one in 13 games. Very good for an Oline that has, 175lb, 175lbs,175lbs, 235,and 250lbs guys, and couple play both ways. One Sr, and 4 others that either started or played a lot as Soph. last year. They will have one slot to fill next year, but have some very large kids coming up from the 8th and 9th grade to pick from.1 point -

Torching, would have been , if coach had thrown the ball in the second half, as all 11 defenders were on the line of scrimmage. Tigers kept the ball for over 5 min , twice just running the ball. Keep the clock moving so everybody couuld go home and get dry.lol1 point -

I agree. Miller didn't "torch the Tech guy" like it was stated. It was more so great passes by Brisbane. Miller had 4 catches on the night for about 100 yards. Torching would be 8-10 catches for 200 yards. I thought the coverage over all was very good on Miller.1 point -

My question to you is.. Did LV come with it? I can tell you that PA did leave it all on the field…..just it was all spent in the first quarter. Their tents were folded and packed away just after halftime… Shout out to Cougar Cal..for the on point post in this thread. btw. PAM have great athletes, but the coach needs to work on their sportsmanship.1 point

10-3A All District Picks
TxHoops reacted to Jesse Evans for a topic
I think that both of these MVP were great candidates. Perrault carried EC as far as he could. He won or put them in position to win at least 6 games alone. The Dischler kid did the unthinkable of gaining over 2000 yards which was exceptional. I thought the Dischler get may have had an advantage because he played an exceptional game offensively and defensively against EC. It’s very rare that a player from a 3rd place team wins an award of this kind. To be honest, Corbett of Anahuac could have shared this award as well. A healthy Cobitt against OF would have been a win for Anahuac. Either of these kids deserved this award and honor. Proud of Perrault stepping up and carrying those Bucs. The real coach for encouraging and motivating Perrault will never receive any recognition for him taking over this team and leading them the way he did. Congratulations to both MVPs1 point -

I totally agree with you on this selecting process. There should be only 11 players selected, both offense and defensively to each team, 1 MVP, 1 OFFENSIVE, DEFENSIVE, UTILITY player of the year. You have kids now playing sparingly in 3-4 games all year and make all district. What this says about the coaches are they don’t really know the game of football in selecting these teams. What they do know who what kids parents are members of the Booster club, what parents are donating to the school or the program. This has been going on for the past 15-20 years. There are no such All District teams anymore1 point -

Same to you guys. PAM has strong talent this year. I thought the game would be closer but the mistakes and missed opportunities for PAM were big. There is no doubt in my mind that these last three games have pushed our defense in different ways...the Crosby and PAM games will be critical for what is coming up in the next two weeks if we keep winning.1 point -

I was impressed with the defensive line. When Gilmer did have success on a few runs, it was to the perimeter, and not between the tackles. They are big, and agile. That defense will always be something special for years to come. I’m not sure a young, sophomore QB woulda made much of a difference either.1 point
