I think we all know that this is about the time of year when Southeast Texas high school football fans of all stripes start to consolidate into the fanbases of the Southeast Texas teams still in the playoffs. This year, there are three teams from the 409 still competing: Newton, Silsbee and PN-G. This week, Silsbee and PN-G will both play at Houston-area venues. Silsbee will play Cuero at 1 PM on Friday in NRG Stadium. PN-G will kick off against Fort Bend Marshall at 7 PM that night at the stadium in Galena Park. These are opportunities for Southeast Texas to show its legendary fan support. Tickets to the PN-G game have already gone on sale, and GPISD has opened up both sides of the field to PN-G fans and their friends in anticipation of a sell-out crowd. Tickets to the Silsbee game will go up on Ticketmaster shortly, if they haven't already. Let's show up and show the rest of the state out. See y'all at the game(s).

I like it. Now just need to do something about that DH spot. I've heard rumors about Nimmo and Conforto. Market value for them on Spottrac is pretty high. I would prefer Nimmo out of the two if they are going to do that. I like the idea of bringing Yuli back for 5-7 million. Something about that man in the playoffs and he's a big part of the culture. Abreu and Yuli could be the 1B/DH option on most days. You could put Yordan as DH and play Myers in the OF on some other days. We shall see what they do, but I do think they sign Nimmo, Conforto, Brantley, or Yuli for a positional/DH spot.

I'll be at the stadium Friday but I listened to all three previous playoff games and I came to really enjoy the broadcast. The play by play is pretty good considering they are volunteers and I enjoyed the banter as well. So if you're in the car are somewhere you can't watch I highly recommend tuning in.

You can also rely on the Neighborhood homies on Facebook live as well lol they are always broadcasting lol.

That stat is meaningless. Playing Nederland with a losing record is not the same as playing a 4A D2 team with a losing record. You can throw all that junk, including common opponents, out the window. It means absolutely nothing.

Maybe I am posting too much on this topic. Think of this though. The DA has the discretion to accept or dismiss the prosecution of any case. There is no obligation under Texas law to bring charges. The DA can refuse cases at his discretion. With that in mind, the DA is in my experience, usually not willing to push a questionable case. If the police possibly did anything wrong in the DA’s professional opinion (questionable detention, search, documentation, etc.) and that piece of evidence is critical to the case, the DA will likely refuse to prosecute. They aren’t going to dedicate time and resources to a case that in their opinion has questionable evidence. I could argue that the DA might win the case anyway or eventually win it on appeal a couple of years later. In many or most cases that isn’t going to happen. It might be more prudent in their opinion to dismiss the case and move on. With that in mind, this case has been presented to the DA. After reviewing the case, including how all of the evidence was gathered, the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office Juvenile Division determined that the case was not only solid, it had enough evidence to present this case to the Family Court to get the juvenile defendant certified as an adult. They could have very easily allowed the case to remain in the juvenile courts. Apparently the DA believes a good investigation was performed and has moved forward with what they think is a winning case. With all the rules, rights and laws to follow, at this stage it appears that the DA believes the police did a good job. A defense attorney will now get to scrutinize all of the police actions and don’t be surprised if those high school educated officers get their evidence submitted into trial.

And in a short follow up, yes we the police have to follow rights and laws but in a large majority of cases the police officer with the GED or high school diploma follows those rules and typically wins in court against attorneys with their Doctorate of Jurisprudence and affirmed by perhaps even higher trained judges including on appeals courts up to the Supreme Court.

I Believe Newton has the best defense in the 8 remaining teams in state. They should shutdown Harmonys offense like they have done all year on Defense. Gunter, Holiday, Dangerfield more than likely has the best offense’s in the state. If Newton can step it up on the offensive side of the ball, and play mistake free football, they can win state. I just posted a score projection from Calpreps on this game, to keep people on this site instead of going to other sites. It's just a post on what the expert computer analytics football guys had on the outcome of the game. Different posters have been posting predictions from Calpreps on setxsports forums for years & you are the 1st person I have ever seen in 12 years get their feelings hurt over it. Calm down, find you a safe place to go, nothing offensive towards any team was stated or any forum rules were broken that i am aware of.

Here is an interesting note since everyone wants to talk about Schedules. Lets throw away the regular season because lets face it that really don't matter now, Lots of people are talking smack on Silsbee has a weak regular season schedule and people are saying the same thing about Cuero so lets talk about the play-offs......... Silsbee has scored 128 points and only given up 31 points. Cuero has scored 93 points and given up 39 points. I mean the playoff is the only thing that matters at this point huh ?

Well last PNG game I went to in playoffs was when they played Stephenville and they had 60,000 fans at that game.

WO-S as a legendary program is done. Apparently it is going to take some folks multiple faceplants to realize it, but that winning percentage is going to plummet faster than you might expect. No one is saying that WO-S won't compete. Occasionally they will field a talented squad that will partially overcome coaching shortcomings, but our reign as a program that is routinely a cut above with kids dreaming of a silver hat from peewee on is over. Don't know what you got til its gone. We predicted this.

Basically same as college. I've never seen or heard of it at the HS level though. So it would actually be something to brag about. Planned on seeing both games, but thats not possible now. I'll be lucky if I'm able to catch the live streams. Rep WOS for all of us #1

PNG will win, not going to predict a score. Coach Joseph comes from a Championship pedigree he knows how to win. The new DC they got us one of the best in the state, He’s completely transformed that defense. Last year BH team everyone counted them out and the Hill punched FBM in the mouth and won. Marshall shut down a Lake Creek team that was scoring 70-80 points on almost every opponent. They also smoked PNG earlier in the season by 3 TDs. This won't be any different imo.

Fort Bend Marshall wanted a smaller stadium to limit the PNG crowd size, but when the FBM fans have PNG fans sitting in their laps and singing Cherokee because there’s no space they’ll be thinking, “This is so much worse.”

Here some some stat info you SETX fans. The starting Dawg Defense has held 8 of the 12 opponents to minus yards rushing in the first half. They have held 10 of the 12 opponents to zero points in the first half The starting D have given up 20 points in 12 games, that is 1.6 points a game. The Dawg offense has averaged 42 points by half time. Cuff has 43 touchdown passes 3,000 yards with only 3 interceptions. He has never played in the fourth quarter and usually pulled one series in the 3rd quarter. Most of the games he and the starters never played in the second half. The starting D only played one series in the 3rd quarter in all 12 games. This could be the best Dawg team of all time, only time will tell.
