  2. The reason the attendance was down in NRG was because teams outside of Southeast Texas and Houston area don’t travel well. So yea the attendance is going to be low. When they don’t travel UIL doesn’t make as much money. That is a big issue. So in order to make money they accommodate the Dallas area teams so they don’t have far to go. I personally believe this is crap. Just because those teams don’t travel well all of the other areas have to go and spend their money just so the fans in the Dallas area are happy. I know some of the schools in that area say they can’t afford to travel. I can kind of understand that. Hell SOC couldn’t even afford to buy a uniform to fit #99 so everybody in stadium got a very unpleasant view of butt crack every offensive snap. But there are teams in Southeast Texas and the Houston area in the same boat. Why can’t we accommodate them? If I had to guess Jerry has a lot to do with this and the deal he has created with UIL.

  3. My aunt, my mom’s sister, & my uncle met in the hall at Wheatley high school. Jackie Carr was their class mate. I spoke to him briefly at my uncle’s funeral a few years ago. Coach Carr was still driving & getting around then. I am not sure about now.

  4. I had a coach ask me how many games has Silsbee won in the playoffs the last several years and got me to wondering myself. In the last 8 seasons, Silsbee has won 40 playoff games. That's averaging 5 wins a playoff season. Here is the last 8 seasons: 2015 Regional finals (4-1) 2016 State finals (6-1) 2017 State Champs (7-0) 2018 State Champs (7-0) 2019 Regional finals (4-1) 2020 Regional semis (3-1) 2021 Regional finals (4-1) 2022 State semis (5-1) That's 7 regional final appearances in 8 seasons. 4 Regional champs 4 state tourney appearances 2 state championships 1 runnerup I think one would have to go back to the Port Arthur Lincoln days of the 80's and 90's to come up with a better playoff run here locally. If you go back to 2005, Silsbee has reached the regional finals 12 times in that 18 year span, winning the region 6 times. Made the regional tournament in 14 of those 18 seasons. Pretty phenomenal two decade run so far for Silsbee.

  5. It will be hard to replace Morris and Washington. But the Bears will be disciplined. I heard a story that Peevey took the team out to eat before a game, blew his whistle in the restaurant full of patrons, and yelled EYES to get his kids attention. The person who told me the story said every kid on the team rolled their eyes. Well oiled machine!

  8. I have to agree. Lumberton appears to have got themselves a good coach. Vidor will be stuck, unfortunately, in mediocrity as long as nothing changes. LCM, well, everyone is stating his worth based on one appearance in a Title game. Remember, the PNG coach before Faircloth appeared in a Title game but... So, this is Lumberton's as long as their coach is there.

  10. I see your question to the liberals is being ignored. But, they are all over some trading cards and reparations. They don’t care to be bothered with real issues facing America.

    Png 2023 ??

Cool facts about PNG for those who are interested. Please do not take his as bragging. I am only interested in sharing to those who love high school football or want something to compare their program to. I am a proud Indian and love to talk with others. PN-G has won 65% of its 88 playoff games. PN-G has won 57 playoff games. PN-G has been the district champions 27 times. PN-G has been to the bi-district 34 times PN-G has been to area 12 times. PN-G has been to regionals 17 times PN-G has been to the Quarter-finals 11 times. PN-G has been to the semi-finals 9 times PN-G has been to the state championship 7 times. PN-G has won 3 state championships. Only one team in SETX has been to the State championship more time than PN-G and that is the mighty WOS Mustangs with 8 trips. The other great team from SETX to TIE PN-G for trips to the State Championship is the mighty Newton Eagles. We do not have the talent of WOS or Newton. Definitely not SOC. They had over 180 scholarship offers to their team vs a minor handful to PNG. Coaching has been huge for us this season. Congrats to SOC on a magical season, Hats off to you and your program. PN-G had a magical season of their own defeating the #2 #3 and #5 teams in the state. Thank you SETX family for your support. Thank you SETXSPORTS for your support. I have received so many messages of encouragement from many of you and your support warmed my heart. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Even those who sent negative messages at least you recognized the feat of making it this far. Thanks again for making this magical season feel like we are ne big family. Far those who said due to demographics we would never again make it to state I hope you see that there can and will always be opportunities to make it with the right combination of kiddos and coaching and that demographics cant stop a team from making it. Even in this day of recruiting, building super magnet schools and putting all the best athletes on a single team with a goal of making a SC teams like a PNG, Nederland, PAM, WB, BU, Lumberton, Vidor, Dayton, Jasper, WOS, Newton, West Sabine, Shelbyville, and all the other teams that are landlocked, in a dead growth area can and in fact will make it back at some point. When they do its all the more special. No transfers, no magnets, just hometown kiddos playing their tales off. Look at Silsbee. they have been stellar and Ill say it got screwed out of a shot at the semi-finals by a bullshit non-call. I watched the Silsbee game and saw several times the refs screwed them over. Parden my language. The 2 pt. that was allowed when Cuerro was throwing off his knee really pissed me off. It wasn't as if it was something close. he was down way before the ball was thrown. I have no skin in the game as I am a PNG fan, but Silsbee was the best team and should have been playing in the next round. I hate it when refs determine a game. they should never be the deciding factor in an important game as this one was.. Great season Silsbee, Great season Lumberton.

  12. I've been to AT&T 3 times for state now...AT&T has 3 plusses for me. I sit on the top row and I like the view at AT&T much better than NRG and overall it's a much nicer facility than NRG Also the food is much better at AT&T than NRG...now the bad I hate the fan experience at AT&T there's no security to speak of so if you get up to get consessions or to use the restroom unless you're really friendly with the people near you or your buddy stays in the seats and waits for your return chances are good you won't have that seat when you return, I've never had that problem at NRG on a related note i almost saw i fight at this year's game because Port Neches fans couldn't wait to get seats from Boerne fans who hadnt even left yet once again Security was nowhere in sight...I also hate Dallas traffic more than Houston atleast in Houston people will give you consideration even though there's more cars...You won't find that in Dallas. Finally I'll close with this I hear people saying Dallas area teams has a home field advantage being close to home, while technically true I thought the teams closer to AT&T Stadium were just flat out better this year in coaching and talent with the exception of Franklin it happens I think the south will come back stronger next year

  13. Absolutely no. AT&T is heads and above the best stadium to hold the state championship. Houston traffic sucks. San Antonio traffic and stadium sucks. Austin, who the heck wants to drive into that woke California invested piece of crap. Every kid in Texas wants to play in Cowboys Stadium with the big screen.

  15. NRG is terrible for most of the state. Long haul for a lot of schools to bring their kids. I'm not opposed to rotating it, but I think a venue so far to one side of the state is not a good fit for it.
