Starting to think BU might actually have state chances in 6A. Still think there’s a high probability they slip up in the playoffs against bigger, better opponents, but they’re dang good2 points -
Is that why there was a need for a civil rights law and voting rights law after slavery was over? What about all the Jim Crow laws that had to be overturn or replaced, I guess that's just the results of bad decisions by the black community huh? Your whole premise is just flat out wrong at best. You're making a lot us assumptions and generalizations based on what I hope is short sightedness. According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), in 2016, the majority of food stamp recipients were white (41%), followed by African Americans (25%), Hispanics (17%), and Asians (2%).2 points

Everyone should know racism has been a problem since biblical times. Anyone that doesn’t see that racism has greatly improved over the last century is in denial. Anyone that thinks racism is no longer a problem is in denial. Anyone that thinks racism is a white thing is blind. Racism exists within all races. We should not confuse racism with prejudice. Not all prejudice is racism. Anyone that thinks racism will ever go away is blind. If you are the target of racism the best way to handle it Is to just deal with it and be determined that no one will determine your worth or your outcome.1 point -

I do acknowledge your assertion. It’s not poverty. It’s oppression. Your assertion that “they’re always doing it to each other” dovearils nicely with the bigoted defense of slavery that “they did it to each other” in selling their enemies to the white profiteer.1 point

How’s that racist if I’m white? If the white man likes to share, why so many broken promises throughout our history? The institution of slavery and the south’s attempt to perpetuate it into the second half of the twentieth century does affect the lives of many today.1 point

Lamar’s basketball program is the same as it’s football program. It’s a dumpster fire. Brooks is a good coach but with the shape it was in when he came in and lack of funds it will take a while to build anything that would be remotely competitive. I personally believe that Lamar could be a worthy sports program if the powers that be would let it. If they would realize how much revenue they would make in this area by putting more money in the sports programs and putting successful teams on the field/court. This area would start supporting them more. Nobody wants to go pay money and see their hometown team get humiliated.1 point

You can’t compare the percentage killed to the percentage of population. It has to be compared to the percentage committing crimes. I know math is racist, but to arrive at some of these conclusions, it has to be applied.1 point

Do you feel this same way about white on white crime? FBI statistics show that 85 percent of white murders are committed by white people. You conveniently break those numbers down to prove your point but leave out the fact that people kill where they live. Add in the fact that humans are mostly like minded creatures, then most murders will be committed by someone who looks like the person they are killing. In 2020 765 people were killed by police, 28 percent of them were black despite black people only making up 13 percent of the population. Every job has rules that govern that job. Being a policeman is no different. Rational people want police to do their jobs following the rules and applying them equally across every situation regardless of the color of the person's skin they are reacting with. If they can't do that, then maybe they shouldn't be police.1 point -

Think they have a great shot at a 6A ring!! I know they're a local powerhouse but we need to realize BU basketball is a powerhouse in Texas and a top team in the country!! Not to many teams they gone run into that's better. Maybe bigger but probably 1 team off the top of my head that's better (Duncanville) that's it. they have just as good of a chance then any team this season imo!! With all that said you can definitely have one of those Booker T Washington nights so, anything is possible1 point -

The good news is that those old days where law enforcement was like “it was the worst case of suicide we ever saw” when a black person died in custody are gone… more often than not juries ARE convicting police officers who wrongfully kill/injure people…. The only problem is that a large portion of the population believes that ANY time a police officer kills a black person, the officer should be imprisoned… it doesn’t matter if the officer was returning fire as the “victim” was shooting at the cop…. No justice, no peace!1 point -

I have a black friend that was raised in Alabama, then moved to texas. Great family background, coparenting with his sons’ mom, worked for PAFD before hiring on at one of the plants. Solid, solid dude. He was literally worried about his sons’ lives if they came in contact with the police-and these kids went to Memorial. You couldn’t convince him that statistically speaking they’re 1000 times more likely to be killed by another black kid than a cop. Like… every other week some kid is getting smoked in PA, but he’s legit worried about what will happen if the cops pull them over. I don’t know how you fix peoples’ thought processes with facts…. Some people still believe the election was stolen, too.1 point -

The thing that annoys me is that people on the left 100% believe that they are all victims of “systemic racism” while being unable to point at a single policy that puts them at a disadvantage because of their race in 2020. “Jim Crow, slavery, Tulsa, and redlining!” they all yell, but can point at nothing but results (“there are more blacks in prison for murder”) as proof of racism, when the result is actually a result of poor choices, not racism, arguably. We can, however, point at policy after policy that actually do exist in 2022 that put whites at a disadvantage because of THEIR race…. Not opinions, not long-gone policies, not just “results” passed off as proof of wrong… actual policies. Everything from discrimination in the hiring process under the guise of “promoting diversity” to special consideration in the college admissions process, academic scholarships exclusively for minority beneficiaries, to taxes aimed solely at white people (the excise tax on tanning booth fees), to being protected in the workplace by EEOC regulations, to white people being punished more harshly when committing the same crimes (“hate crime” legislation) to being given preference in stupid reality tv contests (cbs announcing that they will feature 50% minority contestants on their programs) to the current President announcing that he would be choosing a black woman as his running mate… even if she is woefully and obviously under qualified… Black people have far more advantages in America in 2022, yet some will sit in their big houses, boast about their education and that of their kids, and believe that they are still a victim of the system.1 point -
The reason the attendance was down in NRG was because teams outside of Southeast Texas and Houston area don’t travel well. So yea the attendance is going to be low. When they don’t travel UIL doesn’t make as much money. That is a big issue. So in order to make money they accommodate the Dallas area teams so they don’t have far to go. I personally believe this is crap. Just because those teams don’t travel well all of the other areas have to go and spend their money just so the fans in the Dallas area are happy. I know some of the schools in that area say they can’t afford to travel. I can kind of understand that. Hell SOC couldn’t even afford to buy a uniform to fit #99 so everybody in stadium got a very unpleasant view of butt crack every offensive snap. But there are teams in Southeast Texas and the Houston area in the same boat. Why can’t we accommodate them? If I had to guess Jerry has a lot to do with this and the deal he has created with UIL.1 point

Png 2023 ??

Cool facts about PNG for those who are interested. Please do not take his as bragging. I am only interested in sharing to those who love high school football or want something to compare their program to. I am a proud Indian and love to talk with others. PN-G has won 65% of its 88 playoff games. PN-G has won 57 playoff games. PN-G has been the district champions 27 times. PN-G has been to the bi-district 34 times PN-G has been to area 12 times. PN-G has been to regionals 17 times PN-G has been to the Quarter-finals 11 times. PN-G has been to the semi-finals 9 times PN-G has been to the state championship 7 times. PN-G has won 3 state championships. Only one team in SETX has been to the State championship more time than PN-G and that is the mighty WOS Mustangs with 8 trips. The other great team from SETX to TIE PN-G for trips to the State Championship is the mighty Newton Eagles. We do not have the talent of WOS or Newton. Definitely not SOC. They had over 180 scholarship offers to their team vs a minor handful to PNG. Coaching has been huge for us this season. Congrats to SOC on a magical season, Hats off to you and your program. PN-G had a magical season of their own defeating the #2 #3 and #5 teams in the state. Thank you SETX family for your support. Thank you SETXSPORTS for your support. I have received so many messages of encouragement from many of you and your support warmed my heart. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Even those who sent negative messages at least you recognized the feat of making it this far. Thanks again for making this magical season feel like we are ne big family. Far those who said due to demographics we would never again make it to state I hope you see that there can and will always be opportunities to make it with the right combination of kiddos and coaching and that demographics cant stop a team from making it. Even in this day of recruiting, building super magnet schools and putting all the best athletes on a single team with a goal of making a SC teams like a PNG, Nederland, PAM, WB, BU, Lumberton, Vidor, Dayton, Jasper, WOS, Newton, West Sabine, Shelbyville, and all the other teams that are landlocked, in a dead growth area can and in fact will make it back at some point. When they do its all the more special. No transfers, no magnets, just hometown kiddos playing their tales off. Look at Silsbee. they have been stellar and Ill say it got screwed out of a shot at the semi-finals by a bullshit non-call. I watched the Silsbee game and saw several times the refs screwed them over. Parden my language. The 2 pt. that was allowed when Cuerro was throwing off his knee really pissed me off. It wasn't as if it was something close. he was down way before the ball was thrown. I have no skin in the game as I am a PNG fan, but Silsbee was the best team and should have been playing in the next round. I hate it when refs determine a game. they should never be the deciding factor in an important game as this one was.. Great season Silsbee, Great season Lumberton.1 point -
