last night was one of them games we couldn't get anything to fall, but what we did do was play defense, Reb and run. I told everybody give us a month to get our boys in some type of basketball shape and we gone run everybody out the gym. from our district to Houston and the metroplex. wait till we actually start knocking down them wide open 3"s. the body language is totally different now. our boys Finna go on a mean run. you can book the hotels now if you want too. we win out!

They won't have problems selling out The Pit as long as Pitino can build something sustainable here. UNM has always been a basketball school, but times had been tough for a while since Alford left for UCLA. He really had it going the first few years after I got here (2011). The Lobos were briefly in the top 10 at one point and a #3 seed in the tournament. There's no reason that UNM can't be the marquee mid-major program in the West. Gonzaga doesn't count. LOL

So anyway, back to the game. This much needed win for the Raiders puts some added importance to their next two games against BC and Vidor. Sweep those and they're in a good spot to make a run at the playoffs. Split them and they're still plenty alive. Get swept and they're in trouble. The middle of this district is certainly a lot more interesting than the top right now. I'm also curious to see if LCM can right the ship. It really did seem like a foregone conclusion for most that LCM was going to easily finish top-3 in this district. I still expect that, but they're going to have to figure some stuff out.

I don't feel bad at all. Hey, upsets happen. But I will put my success of picking local high school basketball games with anyone on this site. But Hoops, you already know this so I am preaching to the choir.

That is exactly what the Jan. 6th committee was about. There was no collaborating and creating then. It was simply about smearing Trump. If it were a serious committee why were there only 2 repubs on the panel (and they were both anti-Trumpers). Jim Jordan was told he was not allowed on the committee by Adam Schiff, which by the rules is all on the up and up I guess. No cross examination of the facts was allowed by any person the committee was going after. The hearings were in the basement and no one allowed to attend. Now that the shoe is on the other foot it is not ok for those same rules to be applied. I think this is going to get interesting.

Absolutely. And you would be correct on the hoops. Especially college. I have loved it since I was a kid watching the Big East on ESPN when it was a fledgling network (Ewing, Mullin, etc.). Now it is heaven for us junkies.

Are you like me and dislike the first few weeks when the MAC is still in non-conference games and the Tuesday games have to wait a few weeks? I wish some FCS conference would take the Wednesday night slot or some network produce an FCS game of the week on Wednesdays. Give me sports!!! That's one reason I am a baseball nut. well, Jasper returns 19 starters. 8 on offense and all 11 on defense. so we shall see.

This is very interesting. Many call baseball the "series" sport and feel it should be that way at all levels and should have been instituted years ago. Many districts have moved to same opponent in a week to make it more "series like." The state tournament is likely never changing, but a 3 game series to decide it all could be fun if it were ever to do so. Only would add 1 week to the playoffs.

Only problem is if you are going to have all the playoff games be best of three, then the state semifinal and finals should be that way. But that's not going to be the case. Make it universal throughout.
