THSCA does not recognize the Faith Family championship
TxHoops and 2 others reacted to Dirty_but_Dazzling for a topic
Quite sure, they dont have to 'recruit much. if any. In those 16 Districts that are in "their" area the standouts come calling to them more so than not. I bet my house on that.3 points -
THSCA does not recognize the Faith Family championship

Been plenty of discussion about Faith Family since 2019. UIL has it's radar up but not much they can do right now. State legislation has their hands somewhat tied. I thought it was funny that the coaches association did that.2 points -

Told me he will be coaching at Silsbee until Peyton Jones (8th grader) group is finished. I can also see him staying long enough to maybe get 1000. But that will likely take an additional 3 years after Jones to achieve.1 point -

Trump Running in 2024
Boyz N Da Hood reacted to DonTheCon2024 for a topic
The real reason he wants Trump to win in 2024 is for more corporate socialism - More Trump bucks to pay off his business debts - More PPP scam loans to pay off his business debts A true fiscal conservative wouldnโt have put themselves in his position in the first place.. but true fiscal conservatives donโt exist anymore. These guys love free government money just as much as liberals do lol1 point -

That is why I (and maybe one of the few) find this interesting. We obviously donโt have to agree with laws or case laws/rulings but they are the law. I know my rights!! might show that we donโt know as much as Facebook and YouTube make us think we know. Comply, deny consent, remain silent and argue later.1 point -

THSCA does not recognize the Faith Family championship
Mr. Buddy Garrity reacted to scoopno1 for a topic
They can accept any student out of the 16 districts. Supposedly in multi school districts the players come out of the attendance zone except for the magnat schools which can come from throughout the district. I will say this about the situation which I think is very unfair. I ran into one of the UIL leaders about a year ago and stated that I have lived in states like Arkansas, Colorado and Nebraska where the private school play right in with the public schools and they do not have these recruitment problems like they do in Texas. He replied that in Arkansas they have a unique way of taking care of the problem that works pretty good. I came home and researched it a little. I found out that in Arkansas the schools are assigned by enrollment but in the case of private schools if one becomes too dominant they are assigned to a higher classification by the Arkansas Athletic Activities Association. In Nebraska there are a lot of Catholic schools in their association. In some instances some of those schools were very strong but they never dominated year after year like Faith and Family does. A year ago at the State tournament I sat next to a coach from a good AAA school in North Texas. He told me that Faith and Family never runs out of talent. You can think they have graduated most of their team and the next year they show up with a bunch of new faces who are as talented or more talented than the last group.1 point -
Lorena was a little down last year, but won a state championship the year before. Yoe is in the same district as them and is generally very good. Columbus also comes to mind as a very good team thatโs capable of making a run (Franklin beat them by 3), and Hitchcock should be good again next year. But all roads lead through Franklin1 point

87-Year-Old Silsbee Man Charged With Murder
bullets13 reacted to CardinalBacker for a topic
All joking aside, those old people will kill you. I worked in an auto center when I was college and one day this really old guy came in and wanted his battery replaced for free because he hadn't had it that long. We walked out to his truck and the battery obviously came from one of our competitors. I explained that we could definitely test it and replace it if necessary, but he'd probably have better luck at Walmart where it came from. This guy went from 0-100 in a flash. He started furiously digging in his glovebox and the look on his face told me that he wasn't trying to find a receipt. I dipped back indoors. They helped him jumpstart his truck and he left, and about 45 minutes later his son called and wanted to apologize... said that his dad came home looking for a gun and they took his keys away. Those really old people lose their ability to reason things out.1 point -
Do they have an exclusive attendance zone like normal districts? If not, the advantage is not disputable.1 point

Understood. Outside of Franklin the region is not immense with powerhouse programs. The initial statement was that they will contend in the region. I guess we will see. Just out of curiosity, other than Franklin, who do you see as the Regional power?1 point

I think itโs great. Glad the coaches made a point. Whatโs not great is that they played an HISD school in the final. OCFF is the biggest problem in 4A right now, but far from the only one.1 point

NCAA Basketball 22-23
Mr. Buddy Garrity reacted to TxHoops for a topic
Had the further misfortune of being matched against one of the best 10 seeds you will ever see. Penn St playing great basketball at the end of the season. The committee was playing shenanigans with some of these regions though I am convinced they threw Duke and Kentucky in with the weakest 1-4 seeds to maybe get another blue blood to Houston And I am convinced they put UofH, UT and A&M in the same region to try and ensure you get a Texas team in the final 41 point -

According to the US Supreme Court (in GA v. Randolph), if one party is physically present and objects to a search, even if another consents, such a search would then be unconstitutional. [Hidden Content]1 point -

Pressbox Changes at Nederland

Possibly, but I really feel "they've" been dragging their feet on this one. Maybe it's by design, maybe the contractor(s) are slow or maybe the school district is not good at pushing things along. I mean, homes were built during Covid, Huge new units in refineries were built during Covid, Lumberton built new schools during Covid, etc. etc. Regardless, I bet the folks in Big Ned will be happy if/when this is complete.1 point -

Trump Running in 2024
bullets13 reacted to CardinalBacker for a topic
Yes, it does when a candidate's personality precludes them from actually winning an election. It doesn't matter what the policies are when you can't get elected to install them. I doubt that Desantis is much different than Trump in regards to political beliefs... I'm not saying he's the guy, but he isn't going to drive people to vote Democrat like Trump does. Dick Cheney would have made a fine President, he was just unelectable. Nobody thought Trump had a chance and he pulled it off. Four years later he got smoked, and has done nothing but further alienate potential swing voters since with riots, suits, charges, investigations, character assassinations on his "enemies," etc... and all but about 25% of voters don't want it. I'm telling you.... unemployment is at record lows, home prices are through the roof... Biden isn't getting blamed for inflation. Is the media giving him a pass? Undoubtedly. Is there some huge "we need change, and we need it now" movement in the works? It doesn't seem like it. Trump is poisonous at this point to all but his most loyal subjects.1 point
