    RIP Hagar

Looking thru the pictures. I realize I knew him better than I thought. That old red Fairlane (I think) that he always talked about racing and going to the pig stand. He was so proud of his marine/priest son and the grandkids. After only 3 dates, 55 years with his wife... WOW!!! He told me he told her he'd see her 5 months. Just couldn't wait any longer. I completely understand. We can take comfort knowing that he was a Christian and he is in a better place, loving all of those who he missed. @Hagar this place wont be the same without you old man.

  2. But 4 seeds still beat 1 seeds in football. Every year. I'm not a fan of that many going either, but when a 4 beats a 1 it's justified. Even if very few times. It truly shows that some districts are just weaker/stronger than others. In all actuality, 3 beating 2 shouldn't technically happen either but it's extremely common.

  4. This is the truth. We have to develop a physical brand to play with the bigger schools and if we can then the talent that consistently walks through the hallways at Crosby will be doing big things.

  6. I have always said just send 2, but I'm old school that way. But, if you are going to send 4 teams, make sure every district has a minimum 7 teams in it. I don't like 4 teams going out of 4, 5 and even 6 team districts. Also, every #1 seed (district champ) should host a 1st round playoff game. Another incentive to win district.

Not a fan of this. Taking away the necessity of hitting the front end of a 1and1 potentially changes strategy. Just my opinion.

  13. I liked last year's format in the SLC. The top two teams were rewarded with a 4 team elimination at home to try to reach the finals. Then the remaining best team got the championship at their field. It gives the best teams during the season a little better odds of following through in the tournament. Under current format this will always give McNeese a bit of an advantage. The other teams receive no advantage other than playing a lower seed in their first round game. Still a ton of scenarios left for the seedings even with two games left but yours will work. We just need to take care of our own business by winning our final two.

  14. Watch his interview on the ISD Facebook Page. He emphasized Crosby will be physical. Although we won that game it still embarrasses me we had to score 72 point to win a game.

  15. After last night, it appears UIW is the team to support if you're a Lamar fan. There are other scenarios that could get them out of the play-in game, but a sweep by Lamar and UIW and AMC splitting the final 2 games does it. Quite sure those of you that follow this thread know I mention a sweep for Lamar because it ensures you also move past McNeese in the standings. Differrnt note, if McNeese were to lose in the play-in game there will be a very low attendance total for the tournament. With McNeese holding hosting rights for several years a one site format is set, but truly wish the conference could return to last years set up for the tournament. The McNeese vs Southeastern 3 game series for the championship drew really good crowds last year.

  22. Debating that several times in this thread alone I have said that forfeiture has been abused? I don’t know what happened in this case is pretty much all that I have said. Apparently everyone else knows all of the details… as reported by a defense attorney who claims to not be involved in the case.

  25. All I can/will say is it wasn’t politics. P might have been one of the few coaches in Crosby history that didn’t do politics.

  26. Almost happened last year with that coach you like. Aledo played against Coach Willis lead teams in '14-'15 (CP) & '16-'17 (CH). From my experience his teams play hard and don't quit. I think y'all got a good coach.

  27. I agree with you that Eudy needs to the be the QB. But come on, you gotta have more faith in Crosby finishing over .500 (LOL). Seriously I already hear of some issues in the program. That GCM (original Crosby tho) kid you are talking about, I hear some on the staff are playing politics and might not give him the run he needs. Did the same to the older brother. This comes straight from the Dad's mouth, no second hand info. As a Sophomore he was the leading receiver at GCM, so he can definitely catch the ball and pretty decent on the Bball court too. Well he better sick to football, cause he definitely aint gonna get love from that wanna be BBall coach (ain't worth saying the name). I guess the politic is remnants from the parents moving them 2 years ago, not a talent issue. Thus you have confirmed his abilities as a slot receiver.

  28. With 4 teams going to the playoffs, a team would have to be pretty bad not to make the playoffs. The current playoff structure reminds me of the "everybody" gets a participation ribbon. Curious why they haven't gone full "touchy-feely" and let everybody make the playoffs? You see, this way the 2-8 coach can put on his resume how many times he's made the playoffs. At least he'll feel good about himself! LOL! Whatcha think?!

    West Orange-Stark 2023

No doubt WOS had a tough year last year. Look who they lost to: Newton- 12-2, 4 rounds deep (lost by 3) PNG- 13-3, 5A State finalists Silsbee- 13-1, 4 rounds deep (absolutely were good enough to make it to the state finals and lose to carthage) HF- 9-4, 3 rounds deep Jasper- 7-4 (close losses to Newton, Franklin, and Silsbee) Bellville- 11-1 Legitimate argument that this was the toughest schedule in the state. WOS was a handful of plays away from being 8-3 and state ranked going to the second round of the playoffs. Obviously it was a disappointing season, no doubt about it. But it's not going to take a whole lot to turn it around this year. That said, if it gets worse, it's time for a change at the end of the season.

  36. There are two word combinations in law that are huge. Maybe huge would be an understatement. Those combinations are and/or and may/shall. It is not just in law-enforcement but for law in general. Mostly to your question is may/shall. Most law enforcement/police actions fall under “may” which means optional or discretionary. A very limited few say “shall” which is translated as mandatory. An example is making an arrest without a warrant. There is a whole list of justifications for arresting a person without a warrant under Texas law such as “may arrest” for any crime witnessed. They “may arrest” for family (domestic) violence even if they did not witness it. They “may arrest” for a felony even if they did not witness it and it is in immediate/fresh pursuit. They “may arrest” a person, interfering with another person trying to make an emergency phone call even if they did not witness it. If a child is missing or a runaway, the officer shall immediately make a report and immediately enter the person into the national FBI computer database or NCIC. If an adult is missing and endangered, the police shall make a report and enter the person into the same NCIC computer data base, within two hours. Not only is there no option that the police “may” wait for a person to be missing for 24 hours before they make a report, the law is mandatory that a missing person must be entered into the computer within those two hours. If an officer says that a person has to be missing for 24 hours before they make a report, that is a violation of the law and the officer can be held responsible and sued. There are extremely recent mandatory actions by the police, most likely prompted by the George Floyd incident. I believe one is to render aid to any person who may be injured during an arrest or use of force by the police. The other is to step in and intervened if they witnessed another officer committing a violation of a person’s rights. If you want to cut it short and without explanation, out of hundreds of pages of laws and thousands of laws or requirements, the police SHALL; Shall make a report of a 1. claimed assault, 2. a possible domestic violence or 3. identity theft. Shall document traffic stops. Shall make an arrest for the violation of a Protective Order, witnessed by the officer. Shall make a police report and enter a child into the national database immediately and if an adult, within two hours. Shall render aid for any action taken by an officer and Shall, intervener if another officer is witnessed violating a person’s rights. Edit for auto correct gibberish. Like it changed a person’s rights to the price is right… and other words that didn’t make sense. .

  39. Astros are currently 8th in the American League in runs scored (out of 15 teams) and 3rd in runs allowed (out of 15 teams). They are projected to win 92 games and finish tied for 1st in the West. I agree that they will have to win the division to make playoffs (don't see a wild card coming out of the division). Astros are currently without 3 starting pitchers and 3 every day players. I like their chances and willing to wager 4 figures to show my confidence.

Barrier is leaving Anahuac. I believe he should have stayed 1 more year, matured a little more and worked on his scrambling and footwork, then moved on to a 5A or 6A team and shoot for a D1 college. If he goes there and gets beat up and doesn't make the playoffs, I'm afraid it will set him back. At Anahuac, he would be in the playoffs and possibly make a deep run and teams will come calling for his services. Just my .02.

This isn’t college. They aren’t recruiting replacements. They aren’t searching a non-existent Texas High School Transfer Portal for new playmakers. Barrier could get hired on his credentials without bringing his son. Is his son a bonus? Yes, but he isn’t the reason his father is or isn’t a candidate. As for confidence I will say this, the Anahuac kids had no problem with a freshman coming in and taking the starting role…

Remember, Barrier will just be a sophomore. No, he’s probably not going to lead Nederland to any championships this year. But the kid is a stud. Nederland’s offense will be much better with him this year and in the years to come. 3A to 5A is a big jump, but Brady will be prepared for it. Nederland fans are going to enjoy watching him play

D1 QB son may be legit & seems to have a bright future, but it's not uncommon for freshmen to start at 3A\2A schools. If this hire is made, just seems its not for the OC position with new set of eyes\play calling to get offense going better it's for the coaches QB son. Barrow most likely stays running the offense & calling plays, IMO

Anahuac QB is the real deal. His dad is one of the assistant coaches for neece. neece hired the coach to get the QB at Anahuac. Nederland would have to hire the QB s dad to get the QB. I think he will be a sophomore next year. Coach Neece was OC at Newton when we won state.

I get yours about the last one.. I had higher expectations but after looking and doing my research on the last one come to find out he didn’t start at the last school he came from which was a very small Christian school… just several camps that boosted him. 4 HS in 4 years says something imo. But this one started varsity as a freshman for very good Anahuac team that lost to state champion team. He had a great freshman year, to start varsity as a freshman in Texas High school says something. To do it as a QB you must be very special. But that’s just my 2cents on it all. If coach Barrier accepts the job him and Monte will do great.

  46. "One thing for sure Crosby will play defense and the best 11 players will be on the field." Best 11, now this is where things gonna go left. For the most part Crosby is still a small town (IJS). From what I been told the previous coach had that same mentality. Led them to the state game and still had parent(s) knocking on his door about "playing time". We shall see and I wish him success!
