BREAKING Crosby hires HFC/AD Joe Willis
bullets13 and 2 others reacted to Cougar14.2 for a topic
There is something to that. What sucks is when you have a bunch of homegrown kids and lose to one of those teams though. Almost everybody you play deep in the 5A and 6A playoffs have free agents though. It's just like the transfer portal in college now, if you want to be/stay competitive you get with the game. CE King looks like they're trying to become a Desoto to North Shore's Duncanville and one that they all have in common is open enrollment. The only way to combat playing some of those all-start teams is to get into the talent acquisition business yourself3 points -

WNBA coach out of touch?

Yep. Exactly my point. Now, in her defense, if she becomes a proponent for changing minds towards patriotism and pride for the US, and tells everyone she was wrong and misguided, then maybe I'll feel differently. Right now, it just seems like her newfound stance is solely founded in selfishness.2 points -

I think they've had enough time to finish up everything out there. But i have not been that way in a while. I do know they will consider approval of selling the event center naming rights at tomorrow's meeting. I'd like to see a name on the home teams broadcast booth. Honoring an local ledgendary broadcaster that recently retired from radio. I'd bet Gary Stelly along with John Kimbro have been up there more that some of our OCs. Would be a great tip of the cap to KOGT for what they've done for OC sports over the years.2 points -

Brittney Griner’s official return to the floor baffles her head coach because it was not a sellout. I didn’t bring this up about Griner. My point is that the WNBA loses millions of dollars a year as it is not popular. It only as a subsidiary of the NBA. If it was a regular business or even a professional sports league that lost millions each year, it would have long since folded. It is about the equivalent of a high school JV football team. At least JV has a purpose. Griner who is obviously a star in the WNBA regardless of her political stance…. but, her coach apparently believed that because she was arrested and in Russia, fans would pack the arena to see her “return”. Part of the coach’s after game comment was, “How was it not a sellout?”. (In the link posted below) That is the out of touch part. I am thinking….. go woke, go broke. The WNBA isn’t losing money because of any agenda. It is losing millions of dollars because it just is not exciting to 99.5% of the public. It is probably subsidized by the NBA just to say there is a women’s league. With that knowledge, the coach thought there should have been an outpouring of support for Griner however. Uhhhhh…….. no. Have seen and loved that bit. He’s absolutely right. And brings up a more important issue than sold out arenas. Television eyes. Until women start watching women’s sports with the same frequency as BRAVO TV, the ladies aren’t getting a big ESPN, TNT or whomever deal. That’s, of course, why these men are making $40M a year. It’s not because the owner’s just value them more.1 point

Bill Burr has part of one of his comedy routines about the disparity in pay. It is typical Bill Burr profanity laced but it is (like most comedy) completely accurate. Part of his routine was, women failed women’s sports because women don’t watch it but blame men for not watching it. Meanwhile women are watching the Kardashians and the Housewife shows who are making money hand over fist and it’s raining money. Women would rather watch other women tearing each other down than watching women coming together as a team to try and achieve a common goal, with his conclusion…… “The Money Listens” Bill Burr Woman Failed the WNBA on YouTube if someone wants to watch it. Funny if profanity doesn’t offend you but again, all comedy is based on reality.1 point -
God forbid teachers would have to be productive in order to keep their jobs. Competition is a good thing in the school system. If you’re a good teacher doing your job then you have nothing to worry about. If you want a guaranteed job for life no matter your performance then get a Civil Service Job. Welcome to the real world. How many of these children’s lives are being destroyed and not even given a chance to get ahead by being in a crappy school district? When comes to some of these teachers it’s not about the kids when you really get down to it. It’s about job security and not being accountable. It’s time they run these schools like businesses. If you’re not profitable i.e. kids getting a good quality education in a good learning environment then hit the road Jack!1 point

I was once told that there are two types of coaches: 1. How you coach is more important than where you live. 2. Where you live is more important than how you coach. I'm not certain that going from WH to Colmesneil is a career move.1 point -

Not a fan of high school coaches recruiting kids in. Know it’s done a lot especially east Houston and beyond but something about winning with what you have is appealing.1 point

Special counsel John Durham's report on Trump-Russia probe released
Reagan reacted to LumRaiderFan for a topic
[Hidden Content] From the article: In July 2016, CIA Director John Brennan rushed to the White House to brief then-President Barack Obama and Joe Biden, our current president, about alarming new evidence uncovered by American intelligence. The agency had obtained reliable information that "Hillary Clinton had approved a campaign plan to stir up a scandal against Donald Trump by tying him to Putin and the Russians" (page 81 of the report). It was an outrageous and wholly invented accusation unsupported by anything except Hillary’s craven imagination. Her shrewd goal was to frame her opponent for unidentified crimes that he never committed and, thereby, damage or sink his candidacy. As Durham noted, the despicable smear had the dual benefit of distracting from her own nagging email scandal that was dragging down her poll numbers. Given its potency, the Clinton canard ranks as the dirtiest trick ever perpetrated in American politics. Obama and Biden knew all about Hillary’s treachery and so did others in their orbit who were secretly briefed, including Attorney General Loretta Lynch, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and FBI Director James Comey. This is corroborated by Brennan’s handwritten notes. For the next three years all of them remained silent about the CIA’s findings. Collectively, they concealed the truth of Trump’s innocence as he was hounded by the constant condemnation of conspiring with Moscow, even though he did no such thing. On almost a daily basis, the media pronounced him guilty in the court of public opinion. Brennan and Clapper took to the airwaves and dishonestly denounced Trump as a Russian asset, hiding what they knew. At the outset of the hoax, Hillary’s devoted coterie of disciples plotted to spread the lie. They secretly paid a sleazy ex-foreign spy, Christopher Steele, to obtain Russian disinformation about Trump and compose a phony "dossier." They leaked it to journalists who promptly insisted that it was true without ever bothering to verify or corroborate its contents. News organizations even published the full collection of lies that was covertly bankrolled by Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee.1 point -
PLEASE don't tell us Nederland is looking to Westbrook for answers!1 point

Apparently a “new coach” is there and they are running his plays. The bad look part is that Nederland was unable to secure a guy from Anahuac as the 1st OC. He had been to several practices. Some skill players were pulled from class to be told they have a “fair” chance to be the starter but the son “has an advantage of having his dads playbook”. Then a few days later, they are not going to Nederland. Then without any word, “some bald coach has been at practice and we are running his plays”…allegedly 😬 then The dogs drop out of 7 on 7 tourney…all rumors 😬1 point

It’s a fun district to watch. Got some solid teams that make for some games that fans can really get excited about during the week. Think about WOS vs Jasper , WOS vs Silsbee , WOS vs HF, Silsbee vs Jasper….and there are more. These are games that fans look forward to and can talk about. I know it wasn’t great for WOS last year, but I look at them as a sleeping giant. You drive by that place and see that historic stadium where they have “crushed” teams for decades. They will be back.1 point

I was high on Jasper last season… I was shocked when they lost to Sealy in the first round… still scratching my head. Jasper should contend for the district championship. They have the athleticism to matchup with Silsbee.1 point
