    RUSK

Brady Barrier will be a sophomore at Rusk HS and will play football. His father is Coach Ned Barrier and will coach on the offensive side. I am Nathan Barrier (Pap), Ned's father and Brady's grandfather. I began coaching in 1971 and am retired. I encourage Rusk fans to buckle up & hold on tight.

  4. Safe and Effective, Unbelievable. People that didn’t believe in the vaccine were chastised, made fun of, alienated, loss jobs and on and on. I have zero regret or worry about my family not taking it. And I will not let them M - fer’s forget about it. There was a better alternatives that got canceled by Big Tech and the FDA. Where’s the death count ticker on CNN showing how many people have been killed and permanently injured by this BS vaccine? They didn’t mind showing it to push the BS vaccine. But some of the government seals still believe in it.

  6. This should make everyone furious, our government lied to us and is responsible for many of the deaths that could have been prevented. To demonize two safe drugs that have been used for decades so Fauchi and his ilk could profit off a vaccine that was more harmful than helpful is evil, no other way to phrase it.

    Local Murders

There are so many what if questions. A single sentence can change a justified shooting into Murder or vice versa. The law is specific in what crimes justify deadly force in order to recover property if the suspect is actually fleeing with the property. Those crimes are Burglary (breaking into a residence or building), Robbery, Aggravated Robbery and Theft if the theft occurs in the nighttime. Those four crimes alone, justify deadly force to stop a person from getting away with property. It is not to be confused with other crimes where deadly force could be used to stop the crime from being committed such as Arson or Sexual Assault. I am talking just running or driving away with the property. For example, if somebody steals your kid’s bicycle from the front yard in the daylight and there are no other facts (like he threatened to kill you), can you lawfully use deadly force to get the bicycle back? In my opinion and the way I read the law, absolutely not. That would likely be Murder. So while we are playing what if, what if you chase him and as you get close to him and he still has the bicycle, he pulls a pocket knife out and threatens to kill you? At that point the misdemeanor Theft during the daylight, just became an Aggravated Robbery. Aggravated Robbery is one of the four specific crimes that possibly justify the use of deadly force to get property back….. IF… IF, you reasonably believed that the property could not reasonably be recovered by other means OR…. an attempt to get the property back would expose you to an unreasonable risk of serious injury or death. That is the problem with making blanket statements but if you want to get on Facebook, get ready for the blanket statements. So not legal advice but generally what the law appears to say to me about using deadly force only to protect property after doing it for 38 years… IF a person is committing one of the four specifically mentioned crimes AND IF the person is escaping with property AND IF a person reasonably appears that he would get away without recovering the property OR IF attempting to recover, the property, would expose you to serious injury or death…. Then it is likely justified. All of the AND and AND IF situations must be covered. They are not mutually exclusive. 1. 4 crimes and, 2. escaping with property and, 3. not reasonably likely to recover the property by other means or, The recovery would expose you to serious injury or death. Clear as mud? We could probably sit here and think up of 100 different situation.

    Png vs Pam

Last year PAM beat the brakes off of my Indians, 6 or 7 turnovers in that game. You cant win a game when you turnover the ball like that. I don't put much on rankings, but there is no way PNG should be ranked #6 respectively in the state. We lost 35 seniors from last year. but this is their second year in the system so i don't think it will be that ugly. but the qb this year isn't scared to get hit and doesn't fold under pressure so it should be fun game to watch. besides the heat, i can't wait to go watch this anticipated game. you can't beat the hype of this game, glad that PAM is back on the schedule hate having to drive allover god's creation to play a Non district game, And beating up on Silsbee every year was getting old. Although the tigers have some serious firepower the last couple of years. glad we just a few weeks away lol.

  9. I liked my play on spelling better lol but yes 3 schools in 2 years. BH probably told him to get lost if he tried to come back after what he pulled. They have a strong receiving core this year, Dont think they want the circus that comes with him. Maybe he should have tried Baytown Sterling, I doubt Snelson at Dickinson will put up with much nonsense. I wonder if he is living with his 7 on 7 coach.

    Local Murders

As we can imagine, the 17-year-old being shot in Beaumont has caused quite a stir on the Facebook forums. As the usual routine, there are complete misstatements of the law on both sides of the equation. This kind of goes into the thread I started about laws but were there any justifications to use deadly force? Of course, the problem is, we really don’t know what happened. For my two cents, it could be completely justified or it could be completely unjustified and murder. I wish I had the facts of the case….

  15. Division 5A – District 17 Barbers Hill Barbers Hill from Mt. Belvieu were dominant in the district last season, finishing in first place with 13 wins and just one loss, and made a solid playoff run, stopping only in the regional quarterfinals. The Lady Eagles lost their two main scorers from last season, middle Avery Wilks and outside hitter Jacie Meredith, who graduated, but still have more than enough senior talent to be a force in the division again with setter Peyton Fadal calling the shots, middles Chloe Morgan and Asia Menard dominating the net, right site Peyton Spahn scoring points, pin hitters Malia Martinez and Aemilie Broussard getting the job done and libero Mia Rivers handling the backcourt duties. Crosby Crosby made it to the playoffs last season after they got fourth place in the district with a campaign of eight wins and six losses, but couldn’t get past the bi-district round. The team will certainly miss the absence of the graduating Ashley Anderson (setter), Victoria Grace (middle), Carli Brogan (libero) and Shyla White (outside hitter), but there’s still some interesting talent in the Lady Cougars roster, most notably with junior outside hitter Kate Valt , sophomore middle blocker/right side Kylie Green, senior setter Bell Land and senior middle blocker Emma Hattaway. Goose Creek Memorial Goose Creek Memorial from Baytown ended up missing the playoffs last season as their district campaign of six wins and eight losses was only good enough to get them in fifth place. Graduation has taken two key pieces from last year’s team in setter Rylee Buchanan and middle blocker Christian Stringer, but the Patriots still have one of the best players in the district in junior middle Sanaa Donaie , who recently committed to Louisiana State. Other key players for Goose Creek Memorial will be senior middle Shyla Houston, senior outside hitter Aracely Nunez and senior libero Carmen Cervantes. Lee With just two wins in 14 matches and a seventh-place finish last season, Baytown Lee will be looking to improve in 2023. The good news for the Lady Ganders is that outside of setter Kandace Waller, no other major contributors from their last campaign graduated. Two of the team’s standouts last season, junior middle blocker Christian Duncan and senior outside hitter Makenzy Moore will have the responsibility of leading Lee to a better season this time. Nederland Nederland battled at the top of the district last season, ranking third with 11 victories and just three defeats and handing Barbers Hills their only upset – their postseason run didn’t last long, though, ending in the bi-district round. The Lady Dogs will have a lot of work to do if they want to remain among the best after the team’s three All-District First-Team selections – setter Audrey Johnson, middle Ava Whitehead and libero Ava Wiltz – all graduated. Leading Nederland this season will be senior outside hitter Kamryn Smith, junior outside hitter Naysa Arnold, junior libero Uriah Buckley and junior middle blocker Ava Patrizi . Port Arthur Memorial After a winless campaign of 14 losses last season, Port Arthur Memorial can only go up this year. Some important seniors are no longer with the team, such as Ava Williams, Charnel Jones, Jariyah Botley and Lily Pham. Junior setter Amisti Ford, senior libero Dekarra Anderson, senior outside hitter Rayven Martin and junior middle Gin’Nyah Robertson should be a big part of the team in 2023. Port Neches-Groves Port Neches-Groves had good moments last season, but still didn’t do well enough to make it to the postseason, finishing district play in sixth place with four victories and nine losses. Much of the squad will be back to try and improve this time around, with the most significant change happening at setter, where Payton Metts graduated. The core of the team should have junior right side Blakely Burks joining seniors Addison Bost (outside hitter), Karleigh Gil (outside hitter), Allie Wright (libero), Kennedy McGlory (middle) and Mallori Moreno (middle). Sterling Sterling from Baytown was the second-best team in the district last season with 11 wins and three losses and won one playoff match before going down in the area round. There will be significant departures for the team to deal with as setter Ashley Aguilar and middle blocker Tanishua Joseph both graduating, but the Rangers will be ready to compete again. The team will get a lot of stability from their senior core of libero Briana Galvan and outside hitters Katy Barger and Bailee Payne and there are other seniors who could give the next step, such as outside hitter Briana Bentancourth and setter Kennedy Birdsell.

  21. HF is likely the toughest game on the schedule. That game will be a good indicator of the strength of the program. HF might be better than almost every team in 3AD1 other than Franklin, Hitchcock or Columbus. HF may be better than those three also. CS got a few more to deal with prior to HF that cannot be taken lightly.

  24. Yep. The pitching has been about like this all season. Astros real problem has been scoring runs. That is starting to improve with the lineup getting healthy. Astros are currently 2nd in the American League with a 3.82 ERA. Only trail Tampa Bay. Astros are currently 7th in the American League in batting with a .250 team batting average and 6th in runs scored. Also, the other teams in the league that are currently behind Houston is really no threat. I also think Astros will catch Arlington and win the division.

  26. DCTF got the district top 4 like this: 1. Diboll 2. Woodville 3. Coldspring 4. Westwood I am predicting Coldspring 1st with Westwood 2nd (though I am less certain on the 2nd spot). Got some move ins that DCTF did not account for.

  27. Additionally, The democrat plan is working to perfection. Every time Trump gets indicted his numbers among Republican candidates go up. The last thing the Dems want is for trump to drop out of the race. They need him to get nominated, and the mouth breathers in the red hats don’t even realize what’s happening. ”But look at the size of his rallies!!! I just know in my heart he’s going to win in’24’!!!” Nice opinion, sir… too bad it’s not rooted in reality.

    RUSK

I dunno, Anahuac is growing and very well might win district. There is a buzz in the air and attendance is likely going up. Meanwhile Rusk will have to contend with Carthage, I believe. It will be interesting to see how many district titles each school has, and how many playoff wins each program captures over the next three years.

  39. That's crazy to me - Basically, if have a bad game against Nederland, don't expect the coach to vote for you even if your season stats are far better than someone who "impressed" her.
