The problem is that you're going to have all those 6A's so close to each other. For instance, Crosby High School is closer to Channelview, North Shore, CE King, Summer Creek and all the Baytown schools than it is to BH. Channelview and North Shore's attendance zones are literally across the street from each other and the UIL split them up this alignment. Off the top of my head just from Richmond to BH I can think of probably 10 teams that will move to 6A at the current caps. In a couple of alignments if they don't split the classes we're going to be at a point where the UIL will have to consider sending all North Houston area 6A to region two. If the UIL doesn't have an issue sending PNG 115 miles to FB Marshall one way then the 6A travel distances can't be an excuse. The reason I said BH would probably be a candidate for 22-6A is because they're on that 146 corridor with La Porte and Deer Park. Remember, the UIL has split Dayton, Crosby and BH up before when we were in normal 5A.

That tournament is more for vacation than it is for competition. Its generally really weak. Waste of time and resources in the big scheme of things.

Some of you folks aren't actually here to talk volleyball. Stirring the pot is what y'all like to do. Yes, we have lost games. Are we upset about it? Not at all. It's all game experience to get better as a team. I don't know if anyone noticed but Vidor came into Hardin having won the Silsbee tournament and was 7-0, but lost in 3 sets. Like I said before, tournament/non-district games don't really matter. Those games are to get ready for district play. In my opinion, volleyball is down all across the board. Even Huffman, who is coming off a state volleyball run last year, is down. They are still good, but not the same as last year. I have not seen many dominant teams this season, with the exception of maybe Tatum and Jewett Leon. Edit: I want to say that the last paragraph is based on what I have seen. I am sure there are some really great teams out there and I just haven't seen them. I'm sure Barbers Hill is one of them. I've never seen them play, obviously due to my job. I'm sure y'all think it's funny I post on here but I actually do love volleyball and like to see the legit info that is posted here.

5A Baytown Sterling went 28-8 last season and two rounds deep in the playoffs. They're no slouch.

Forecast for Friday has game time (7pm) temps around 100 and heat index around 112-115 in this area. By 8pm the temp is forecast to be around 90-92 with index at 98. I think moving game times back an hour is smart.

Several games across the state are moving their game times back an hour or two to get out of the heat as much as possible.

Must’ve gotten some bad analysis from my inner-city guy? I’m 50 plays into the CE King vs Westfield scrimmage film and CE King is kind of dominating both sides of the ball. The RB is smaller but better than the one they had last year and the o-line may even be a little bigger. Westfield has a stud RB committed to Rice but I will say, by no means is Westfield’s offense a thing of beauty which is often the case and the reason why they don’t have multiple state titles. For the Crosby fans that saw the Lamar scrimmage they have a TE that’s just as just as big and fast and just as good, if not better than #41 for Lamar. Just saw him go up and catch one in double coverage then leap over a Westfield defender for about a 35 yard gain. CEK’s starting QB on this scrimmage tape is ridiculous. Probably 7/10 for about 140 yards, 1 TD and 1 int halfway through. One incompletion is a throw away, one incompletion is a perfectly thrown drop to a wide open receiver and the other is an int in the end zone where the Westfield defender went about 10ft in the air and picked off what otherwise would’ve been a beautiful TD pass. What I’m hoping is that the starting QB on this film is the ineligible guy though, noticeable dropoff in arm talent to the #2. On defense they’re huge on the d-line again and pretty much in general. D-line doesn’t look as athletic as the guys last year but they do have what looks to be a stud DE. Again, I think Westfield’s offense is helping them out some but this will be our first time running these new plays in a game. If the Lamar scrimmage is any indicator we’re going to have to do a lot of improving just for kids not to be arguing in the huddle about calls and where to line up. New offense seems a lot more complicated than the old ones but hopefully that makes them harder to defend once we get it figured out.

He's not the only one from WB he hasn't signed off on currently. And yes Santa I agree, he comes off as sour.

No, I did not say BH was down. I said it was based on what teams I have actually seen with my own eyes. I have seen teams this season that are generally strong, like Huffman, be weaker than last year's team. I hear the BH program is quite good but never will get a chance to see them unless I do so after I retire. However, it helps that there are some clubs close to BH. Girls from Hardin/Liberty area have to travel to do club ball if they do it at all. Hardin usually plays the Wimberley Tex-Fest Tournament instead of the Central Heights tournament but rising costs of staying in the Wimberley area prompted a look around for a different tournament. Central Heights had some solid teams in the tournament (not high powered like you would see at Wimberley) and we got some game experience there. At Wimberley, Hardin played the likes of Laredo United, Stephenville, & Wimberley. Last year, they went 2 rounds deep in the Gold Bracket before losing to Wimberley in 3. Regarding your comment about Vidor, I do not know if they "played anyone with a pulse" but saw on here that they won the Silsbee Tournament and was told they were 7-0 coming into Hardin.

Are you saying Barbers Hill is down? During Vidors 7-0 start, did they play anyone with a pulse? Records aren't always the end all be all, need to look at who they are actually playing. BH has played some big time programs, not sure anyone else in the area has played anyone remotely in the same ballpark. If you are only playing other teams from the Golden Triangle you might want to step out and play some other areas. Bridge City stepped out and played the Dickinson tourney two years ago and never came back, the same tourney BH has reached the finals 3 years in a row and won it back to back. Nederland has played in the John Turner two years in a row in Pearland and has finished in the bottom both years. My opinion is BH is close enough to Houston area club volleyball that their players develop at the top levels of club where as east texas/gold triangle has a hard time keeping up due to logistics. Until that changes the level of volleyball in HS will not change. Huffman lost some srs last year including their setter so that is tough to replace. They got on a magical run last year but for perspective they lost to BH 3-0 last year and 3-0 the year before.

I know in Crosby there are several new subdivisions going along 2100. And there are several that will be going along 90.

@DP#1FAN this is the area for any discussion. There's at least 30 local Golden Triangle teams in our coverage area. Someone is almost always left out. I'll get them in next week. But to keep the masses of south Newton County happy. Send me a list of the games you'd like included.

Dayton just started a 15k home community, Mont Belvieu is about pour roads on a 5k home community and Crosby has pockets of new homes popping up. The growth towards the northeast and far east is starting to build up steam.

So, Vidor shouldn't make the drive...forfeit? It's an uphill battle with slim to none chances and yes, Silsbee is more than HEAVILY favored but there's always a chance. Vidor will have to play a perfect game, hope for a couple mistakes by Silsbee and capitalize on those mistakes. I know that Vidor's chance of winning is less than 1%...; much less lol... but I'll NEVER udder the words "no chance". Play keep away, no turnovers, penalties to the bare minimum, and good special teams play.... never know!

I’m a little late reporting in but Bellville looked good Vs El Campo lasts week. In the controlled part Bellville scored twice and El Campo did not score. In the live portion neither team scored. Bellville will lean heavy on their defense this season IMO

I'll be sure to look out for him.

and watch us lose lol. this song became a problem when we were 6a and westfield came to PA and had to deal with Jamaal Charles. we were blowing out westfield and everyone started celebrating and this song started it ALL!!! Westfield came back, but PAM held on.

There was a lot of factors that went into that game last year… Stanley being out with his dad was the big factor as well… Liberty will be good this year. Coldspring secondary is young. Should be a fun game to call Friday night

United should have one of the better (or maybe most talented is a better way to label) offensive lines in our area. Now if they utilize this strength is the question.

Get your lotto tickets ready, I think there's a better chance of getting rich before 7A comes online in the UIL.

Yep" #5 .. He's all over the field just like Miller. Out there running circles around people. He will be a danger every time he touches the ball. He took a pass the other night for like 65 yards and no one was catching this young man. He is also great in Basketball..! 🤗

Silsbee will cruise in this one. If Vidor can find a way to keep the ball away from Tiger offense will help keeping the score from getting ugly.
