Should be an interesting game, Santa Fe is undefeated and Dayton is 2-1 both are playing much better the last two years than they have in the previous ones.

At the worst, dead ball and unnecessary delay on the team. If the violating team had no timeouts left, then point is awarded to the other team.

St Thomas would run over LCM. They are a really really really good team! #1 private school in the state according to some rankings their twitter has posted this last week.

You make a fine point, sir. Certainly a debate to be had for sure. I just don’t see Orangefield being knocked out of the playoffs with four teams being allowed to go. I don’t expect a district title from them this year , but you get four places to get in. In regards to some of the other conversations on this thread…You know I can understand the slot T being used as they put it when you are “out athleted” if Orangefield was still playing WOS or Silsbee in that bigger district. Personally , I have a tough time believing that Orangefield is “out athleted” in this current district they are in. I saw the 9th grader throw the ball for Ofield varsity. You are getting him experienced early, and he is a big kid with what appears to be a decent arm strength. I refuse to believe that it has to be slot T or else “everytime or every year”….you don’t have the lineman or the current backs to run the system this year as was mentioned in here by others , then why are you refusing to adapt or change? Many opinions on this , but there is nothing wrong with at least stating an opinion like “bobcatdad” did earlier on here. It isn’t working for them right now. No one can argue that point. They are the largest school in the district they are currently in..Regardless of how someone loves the coaches or loves the school district, and I think it’s both very honorable and somewhat comical when people come roaring to the defense of a coach or a program… there is no excuse for not making the playoffs when four team go in this district. Orangefield cannot hide from that..they need to get in the playoffs. They have good enough talent in players to get in. Four teams go man..they need to be one of them, and I believe they will be. In fact , I believe they beat Buna this week and start 1-0 in district. I’m not sold on the Buna hype train.

Too early to tell, IMO. Mason wasn’t the most athletic and certainly not our best QB ever, but his poise was on another level. The last drive in regulation play against Cuero was a perfect example. If I remember correctly, he took us 70 yards in less than 2 minutes to set up a potential game-winning field goal. Never looked like his pulse got over 40. He always kept his eyes down field and made some great throws knowing he was going to get hit. He was extremely accurate with the long ball. He put enough air under it to allow the receivers time to run under it. I’m not saying Moshier isn’t capable, but he has big shoes to fill. Hopefully he can play a big part in getting us to the promise land. Time will tell.

Another thought... yes it's scary that I've had 2 in the last 25 mins. This time about the online only ticket sales now at WOS. Right up there in the front of the nice new multi million dollar event center. There is a ticket booth. Really, why, how? This is a perfect example of the disconnect between the admin and the community. I assume my tax dollars could have a bigger impact on all students if spent on new library books. Or a press box bigger than OF visitors stands? What about new tennis courts? Or even just turning the lights on for security during game night. Since they took away all the closest parking to the stadium. And there's not even a sidewalk to get to that area. Hear how crazy that sounds? I'm complaing, sarcasticly, about walking thru the mud. When most students can't get a decent education.

The six Silsbee wins are correct. Three regular season wins (1993, 2009, 2022). Three playoff wins (1998, 2018, 2019). I have seen records where WO-S has 24 wins and others that have 26 wins. I believe it to be 26. 26-3 in regular season, 0-3 in playoffs.

This is a sports site. So the issue we speak of here is not about As and Bs. But Xs and Os No1 has ever said we are OK with the poor education the district has been facing for years. And believe me that ship sailed long ago. The education issues we face are similar to most minority schools. And if I could change that with one hire I would. Which leads me to the AD. One hire can make a huge difference. We've seen that over and over again with each passing week. The hiring process of our current AD/HC that has been explained here numerous times, is a mirror image of the hiring thru out the district. Only this is a much higher profile situation that has been part of the public knowledge. If you understood that teachers are hired in the same manner, you'd be carrying the signs at the march to the admin building with us. But that won't happen because like you say, where's the outrage? We don't agree with how he was put into this position without experience. Or any of the subsequent hires brought in under him. Exactly the same as teachers being brought in to fill the vacancies. No need for interviews to pick the best candidate. The super can simply make his choice. And if it doesn't work, like this current FB staff. Nothing changes. They continue to draw a paycheck like it's a government job with no accountability. Don't believe me? Ask anyone that has spent any time in our district. Or any parent that has moved their kids to a neighboring district and seen the major change in the students overall performance. I know too many that were doomed to ISS at WOS. And when changed to a better educational supported district, they thrived. Earning a HS diploma. In turn, WOCCISD has an open enrollment policy with no set of standards. We'll take any and all, with no requirements. Just show up and be counted so we can get our govt check. You know they pay based off attendance and not grades? This is a microcosm of the overall health of our district. Academics and athletics are in need of total rehabilitation. Best candidate should always be given opportunity. When that goes away, we are one step from total discrimination. How does one explain this to the kids looking for a way out of this so called dead town? You could've learned about this in school, but we decided to keep our staff even though they continually fail at teaching what you need to know. My diatribe is over for now. But know that some of us here are quite serious about all this. Not just blowing smoke about wanting a certain race to be the only option to lead our kids.

Hopefully Dayton plays all 4 quarters, if they do I believe they will come away with the win.

You’re pretty accurate with a lot of your assessments, BH was missing a lot on defense, if they can get a couple back, it probably won’t be close.

Going to wade back in as an outsider into this discussion. I will be shocked if LP makes BH punt the ball at all while the game is still in doubt. Lee had guys running wide open down field multiple times and just couldn't connect which is why Lee isn't as good as BH or LP. After seeing BH against Crosby(was watching both games at the same time) I don't think BH is going to be over throwing and under throwing those wide open balls down the field. Unless they get stuck with a penalty and some mishandling of the ball, I don't see a scenario where BH gets stopped this game. I would expect 4 or more 50 plus yard touchdowns passes. I don't think BH will have the same difficulty with this running game as they did with Crosby. This one is more about assignments whereas you could have all the guys in the right assignments and #2 and #14 for Crosby will just plow over a guy and juke quickly around another. LP has guys that are going to get the yards that are there but not a lot more. They have to have it blocked up and executed properly to get their 5 yards each time. I don't see that as being sustainable against BH.

LP held a decent Lee team in check except for one long QB run in trash time (Duncan’s pretty good BTW), and had 2 goal line stands against a full set of downs each time. Still, I don’t think they’re strong enough to stand on their own against an attack like BH. LP’s O will need to have time consuming, point resulting drives to help them out. Yes. Everyone healthy. Last year, the teams played hard—but clean. Don’t see why it can’t be that way again.

I think LP will score, but your defense will definitely need to play well. It’s going to be a fun game to watch. Good look to y’all and hopefully everyone is healthy afterwards.

I respect your opinion and your enthusiasm for your community. I sincerely do. It's also good to hear about your niece. That's really awesome for her, although she and others like her are the exception rather than the rule at WOS. Instead of turning this into a diatribe of education and race and to preserve the privacy of the coach and others, I will finish my reply to you in a private message.

Honestly, that’s what I would’ve assumed would happen is a replay gets called. One of those situations though it should’ve never even came down to 5 sets nor should it have came down to a position of one call possibly altering the game.

FTLOTG, I understand your perspective but I also believe in "let the players decide it" whenever possible. A good ref in any sport will try to swallow the whistle "up to a point" when they can. Based on what I am reading here it really did seem inadvertent, unintentional, and had no impact on the play. Just my 2 cents.

You’re right. It is a football thread. But dj is talking about how horrible this coach is for the kids. I’m merely saying there is much more than a bad coaching staff that’s harmful to all WOS students which includes WOS student athlete football players. Where is the upheaval about that? There isn’t any. And it’s shameful to hear everyone going on and on about running these guys out of town, but no one seems to show the same support for the education of these football boys. The battle for these kids isn’t won on the field, it’s won in the classroom. The kids aren’t the underachievers. It’s the people responsible for their education. They have given up on these kids’ educational success and preached athletics as a way out. That’s so backwards, I can’t even begin to comprehend it. It’s not like it’s a poor inner city Houston school. It’s in a well funded district with good kids and good people. I’m sorry I brought this up, but it’s been heavy on my mind. My son played flag football all the way into college. He’s an average student and has to work hard to get B’s and C’s. But I always told him, no grades, no sports. It drove him to work hard and get the grades. He got injured last year and no longer plays. I’m glad I laid his foundation in education and not in athletics.

I would never worry a second about them, or homecomings, or hype videos, etc. Heck certain ones have trashed the BH program severely over the years and look how things are now. None of their shade ever mattered. What someone clicks on in a poll matters even less. PAM football is WELL known. No worries.

I was an official years ago and haven’t called a game in years… but me personally if I’m the official I’m not blowing the whistle unless play of the ball was interfered with . Also kinda one of those things where I’d have to be there in that situation…also possibly could’ve blown the play dead and replayed the point

I was very impressed with how competent BC looked against LCM. Night and day compared to previous years.

Game was in Silsbee. Year before, Silsbee should have won but QB knelt instead of spiking the ball to stop the clock on the 1 yard line with seconds remaining. Silsbee had no timeouts remaining. Had to rush the kicking team out but couldn't get the FG attempt off because time ran out. Lost in OT 13-7. That would have been another Silsbee win at their place.

To be fair, it’s not Trump. It’s all people who are trying to get votes. No different for Democrats, Republicans, Independents, etc. Politicians (synonymous with liar, cheat, scum) will tell us whatever’s advantageous to getting our vote. Pick your poison. Like I’ve said before, I’m going to choose the lesser of two evils in my opinion and vote Republican as I have for years.
