I can say starting with Faircloth, hiring a HC from outside the 409 has worked out quite well for PNG. The “good ole boy” thing tried to creep in again after Faircloth resigned but the decision to pay an outside consultant (Todd Dodge) to select the BEST candidate was $$ WELL spent! I’ve heard many districts are going that direction to minimize or eliminate “good ole boy” bias from the School Board.

I agree with the assessment, i think the lumps Orangefield took at the beginning of the season paid off. The OL did improve and won the battle against an equally sized opponent. However, as you stated, "As in this game if you don’t have to throw the ball why throw it", i believe this was the perfect opportunity wasted by not throwing the ball in the first half. It's been my problem with this mindset since i've been here. You should practice the Passing game when you are up in the game, not when you are down by 21 points with 5 minutes left in the game. This just Orangefield, I saw the Liberty Hill game vs PNG. LH had 9 passing attempts the entire year (I almost fell out when I heard that) and they didn't start passing until the last 5 mins of the game and had 2 Picks in the first 3 passes. Shame on them for not throwing the ball during the season to get that game time experience.

for those of u traveling to this game, i suggest to leave no later than 4:30!! i live in TC and coming down 146 is a nightmare in the evening time due to construction and refinery traffic.

We have this issue in Bellville to… And it’s frustrating. We may have 4 pass attempts in 5 games this year… I get the why throw it when you don’t have to argument… but at some point you will need to and by then your asking a lot from your QB who has in the game maybe thrown the ball 8 times all season in a live game situation… I imagine it’s worked on in practice but it’s just not the same.

Yes, “shame on LH for not throwing” and “scoring more points than any team in 5A”. Coaches should be “ashamed”. Especially for “winning and making deep playoff runs for the last two decades”. You should write them a letter. They would cherish your expertise.

Sounds like a heck of a job by Hardin to use the clock that way. I was shocked as well that Anahuac only put up 13pts. They got what I believe , at least for now, will be the district championship game this week between Orangefield and Anahuac. I know last year there was a bunch of talk on this game between the bobcats and panthers, and the bobcats won. Be interesting to see how it unfolds in Orangefield this Friday night. Although a win by the bobcats against Buna was expected, it did show they understand how to win games in this district. I’ve heard some great things about Anahuac this year. They will need more than 13pts this week as the bobcats aren’t Hardin. Looking forward to seeing the outcome.

The game was not stopped. Silsbee had the ball and knelt out the remaining time (knelt twice). After the 2nd kneel down the game clock (24 seconds left) was less than what the play clock (40 seconds) so Silsbee just went to the sidelines to get ready for handshake line because they did not need to run another kneel down play. On the last kneel down a WO-S player bulled his way through the line and some players took offense to that. Some pushing and shoving started. From what I saw, the WO-S coaches decided to not have their players go through the handshake line in fear that the chippiness would escalate. I completely understood that call at that time. I cannot speak on the WO-S alumni jumping any fences. Didn't see any of that on the broadcast. As for the officials, from watching the broadcast, there were lot's of flags thrown in this game but also there were some extracurricular going on after some plays. Got out of hand a few times. Neither team should be happy about how some acted in this game. I saw the interview with Coach Smith afterwards and he was very unhappy with how some of his players lost their cool on several occasions during the game. Said he would definitely be addressing that the following week in practice.

9 years ago. 2014 season. Went to 3rd round and lost to La Grange and JK Dobbins. Made playoffs in 2016 and 2017, lost in 1st round. Have not made playoffs since 2017.

We lost power at 4:30 yesterday afternoon and the good guys at the power company got it back on at my house about 11 last night. My house caught the edge of the storm...

Just thought this might be appropriate . I hear the transfer portal is already gearing up for this much anticipated year. Several players from North Shore, Aledo and Duncanville have already meet with 14.2 and the papers are signed. All home games next year will be at Reliant Stadium due to all of the national coverage demand. Buckle up Coogs fans this is going to be a year to remember

Meh, Crosby's talent is good enough to compete but they have substantially worse coaching than anyone else in this district (outside of Sterling/GCM). Old guy needs to hang it up doesn't have it anymore. Crosby's biggest issue is we had a coach come in and try to make players play his system instead of evaluating what system is best for the players. Crosby is much more talented than their record but when you're coach runs the ball up the middle 25 times in the second half while losing what are you gonna do? Defense looks like a shell of what it was last year as well so it's all the way around that coaching staff. Hope the coach retires, so we can get someone who actually wants to do the job in the building.

Agree wrt FBM. I noticed several pretty big guys on their sideline not suited up, including what I think was their big defensive end. I noticed them because pre-game they were standing over behind, and watching, the PNG players that were doing pre-game drills and warm-ups on the visitor side of the field. I think that TC is the dark horse in the district, though. They defeated Friendswood and Galveston Ball; and #22, Bell, is a Sr now, and seems to have big games against PNG. It's a big game for both teams, just like last week's PNG-FBM game.

If our defense keeps playing well I think we will be alight. Conner has all the tools. He just needs a few games and reps with his receiver's and the drops to get better.
