Beaumont United (0) @ Humble Atascocita (78) - FINAL
BMTSoulja1 and one other reacted to Yeoj for a topic
So, you're saying Atascocita and North Shore has special equipment, facilities, and resources that make kids better football players, and Beaumont doesn't have the resources to get this equipment and facilities. So why don't other schools in those districts like Humble, Kingwood, Kingwood Park, and Galena Park have that magical equipment and facilities? Its the exact same resources! And why does these magical athlete creating machines and facilities only work with football players? Beaumont has no problem competing in basketball. Three years ago, WB football was a third round playoff team. Five years ago, WB football competed for the state championship. So did this magical equipment, facilities, and resource come into existence after that? Or maybe BISD hired the wrong coach to lead their programs. Just maybe our athletic director sucks at his jobs and keeps hiring dudes he knows and that's killing the Beaumont programs. What if parents are sending their talented kids that would be playing for WB and United to surrounding area schools cause they don't like how the coach runs his program. Why is your big facts and big truth is only accurate for Beaumont? Port Arthur has very similar facilities and resources to Beaumont and their team is doing quite well. What about Silsbee, Hampshire Fannett, or PNG? Maybe I'm missing something, can you make it make more sense?2 points -
With or without the MCM magic, Nederland will have a hard time containing #33 for PNG. Ned’s problem has been the defense. In that light, I don’t see them containing #22 for TC either. But, one can’t dismiss PNG’s defense. They are tough because they are well coached! So, I see 1-2 over the next three weeks.2 points

Cornel did not recommend the hiring of ANY coach I guarantee…that’s been said for a while but it’s not true, the book has been written and will be published hopefully soon and every wondering mind will be able to rest in some aspects of what has happened!2 points

I think it’s rumor. If CT wanted Hickman, and thought it was best for the program, or least transitional, there would not have been the turnover there was. All the longtime coaches would not have left had things been smooth, and going in the right direction. You don’t lose those guys, and replace them with younger, inexperienced, less quality guys and continue to win on the level they are accustomed too. But hey, who cares, they have a head coach, and staff that looks like the rest of the community, or so we are suppose to believe.2 points

Declaimer... just another opinion from another nobody When the superintendent made the decison to have a so called coach in waiting because of the accusations made against CT. He was the only one on staff with the credentials to take over. Lucky for him or the superintendent would've brought in someone else that knew even less. He has shown his inability to take the recommendations to hire a coach that could continue the programs dominance. It's like the Bisd football thing. And almost like Jerry Jones thinking he can still be a GM. When he's gone... we'll get it back right again. I also have other conspiracy theories about alot of this too. But I'll wait for the book to come out.2 points -

If u think 99.9% of the voting citizens in WOCCISD are minority. Then I'd suggest coming and checking on your property more often than sending in a check. Or is it the team that 99.9%? Look at the first row As I've said numerous times. Mustang Nation is everywhere. But yall don't get a vote. KT didn't get a vote. Pup and ET don't get a vote. Toby and Coach Locks don't get a vote. CT and DRH don't get a vote. But you know who does?@WOSdrummer99 & @wo-s#1... and some others here that shall remain nameless. And no telling how many other alumni and former players that still live here. In WOS. And we plan to continue to make a change to what we feel is best for the kids. You said 2 years ago that you want the next coach to be black. No 1 has a problem if he is/was/or will be... Any color or shade you'd like to fill in the blank with. He could be a green and gold leprechaun talking about lucky charms. And no1 would care. As long as he didn't screw up what was left for him on a silver & blue platter. Those are the only 2 colors that matter in this conversation. Anyone that says otherwise is clearly not on the right side on reason. We all wanted the best possible coach to be hired. Some thought he was the one and some didn't. But no1 though any less of him because of race. Just like no1 wants him out because he is black. There's plenty of other justifiable reasons for that.2 points -
Santa Fe @ PNG - Discussion

We need to execute, execute, execute perfectly every play. Anyone can beat you at anytime. This PNG team is capable of a much higher level of offensive excellence. I believe that the Purple Indian team will keep improving. Defense seems ready for anything. Offense needs a dominant performance over Santa Fe prior to Mid-County Madness. SIMPLE AS THAT!!!🏈2 points -

I’ll leave PNG #33 to the side right now because it’s all been said. But TC’s #22 is a monster. Heavier and taller than most running backs, and faster than he looks. It takes two or three guys to bring him down most of the time. Ned’s defense took a step forward against FB Marshall. And, Tezino and Thomas have serious speed. Those are the biggest pluses for Nederland. And, Sunday has guts and wheels. That’s not nothing. For MCM, my gut says PNG wins. The defense isn’t a fluke - It’s crazy consistent and has shown very few gaps. And the offense is pushing people around. But, it’s MCM (you only have to go one year back to when PNG barely beat a Nederland team that is significantly worse than this year) and Nederland IS getting better, despite all the frustrating mistakes, and I think Nederland is good enough to take advantage of any wild weirdness MCM brings. On paper, PNg is better across the board, but the game is played on the field. So, we’ll just have to play the game. If I was betting, I’d say PNG by 10. I’m more confident predicting Texas City because that game won’t have the same X-factor MCM does - based on total body of work and coaching, TC has every advantage against Nederland. I don’t think that game will be close, no matter what happens the week before.1 point

Nice thought but rest assured it is not happening. Nederland loses to PNG and TC They simply can’t get it done on defense and special teams and I will be very surprised if they score more than 7 vs PNG and more than 14 vs TC1 point

As an observer of all but one game this year, I can say that Vidor football is not in good shape. The team is undisciplined and lacking want and desire to win. There is more of a ME mentality than a WE mentality. Personal fouls, standing off to the side by yourself, talking to parents, girlfriends, friends in the bleachers while the game is going on, mental errors like fumbling or trying to go for a big hit instead of wrapping up.... that is all look at ME stuff. Are the coaches to blame... yes and no. You can coach and motivate all you want but eventually the players have to buy in and right now the players have not bought in... well not all of them. This post is not me thinking that Vidor should be undefeated or #1 in state. This is an observation post.1 point -

But to further clarify.. I'm not saying that WOS should have hired a white guy, or they can't win with a black coach.... that's untrue. I just think that a lot of good coaches of all colors decided to skip the circus down in WOS. The public (through their racist actions) empowered the super/admin to make what seems to be a bad hire. That's my point.1 point -
West Orange-Stark (28) @ Bridge City (14) - FINAL
marshman reacted to CardinalBacker for a topic
Here's the thing... they had a hall of fame coach in CT. There was petition passed around to have him replaced because he was a "racist." Then he retired. Many in the community had already expressed a desire that the next HC at WOS be black. Because, of course, some people wrongly believe that it's not racist to say "yeah, we're gonna hire a black dude this time." By the time that the applicant list was released, there were only 13 applicants for the position of Head Coach of the winningest football program in Texas. 13. Do you want to guess how many people applied for the last opening for a perennial loser like BC? But don't take my word for it. [Hidden Content] How many of those 13 applicants weren't black? Three or four by my math... and the reason is that EVERYBODY knew that the folks making the decisions in West Orange were going hire a black dude, no matter what... especially in light of the petition that they passed around to get rid of the best thing that ever happened to West Orange Football. So you really shouldn't be too surprised when the people who follow the sport are delighting in the fact that the community/admin's racist ploy to hire "a coach that looks like us" has blown up in their faces. My opinion? WOS should have hired the best guy for the job (regardless of his/her skin color), but it was gonna be hard to find another Hall of Fame coach... and previously playing for one or even working as an assistant under one won't do the trick, as evidenced by the win/loss records of guys like Toby. But you only have yourselves to blame for the mess you find yourselves in now. Who knows? Maybe if you hadn't been so overt in your branding CT a racist and then publicizing the fact that y'all didn't care if a coach was any good, just so long as he was black, you'd have gotten some decent candidates. The public and the admin decided that some things were more important than winning, and they got what they asked for.1 point -

Proud of Lamar and this football team! Wasn’t to sure about this head coach just cause of the unknown part of him. Last season's Dayton team may have been a bit stronger than this year's team. They have three tough games ahead of them, including Willow Ridge, regardless of the current WR district W-L record. I'm discounting the homecoming factor, though. I'll say this, though, the Dayton QB has a good arm and throws a pretty pass. When throwing on the run he loses more than a little oomph; and in the 2nd half he (and his coach) was trying to force things, understandably. Anyway, it's always a good game, PNG and Dayton. My only complaint I think, was the length and slow speed of the concession stand line on the visitor side.1 point

The last AD was about as bad as one can imagine on so many levels. I still hope the hires he made that are still around find success but he was just a disaster. The new guy O’Malley seems like a good guy and learned under a really top notch AD at Marshall. I like him. But I REALLY like Dr Taylor and what he and his wife have brought to Lamar and Beaumont. To me, he was an absolute home run hire by the BoR and one of his main goals was to revive the athletic programs. I truly hope he has a long career here.1 point -
