  1. Hi setx sports forum family & friends hope all is well with you & your family. I come asking prayers for myself & on behalf of my family. We are all closed knit in Coldspring. Lately i have been going through some much in my life. I don’t really disclose this too many people but I am a RN. I have lost 5 family/friends in six weeks. I had to leave a toxic job. Thirdly, i recently lost the love of my life, would do almost anything if the big man up above would allow him to come back him to come back. . Sometimes we allow our emotions & feelings, opinions to ruin a friendship/relationship. I got side swiped in The Woodlands on my way to an appointment. I am very blessed 😇 with only a slightly sore necks. Vehicles are replaceable but human life cannot. i am only asking for prayers for me & my family. Thanks TrojanMoJo 🥰🥰🥰🫶🏽🏈🏈❤️🖤🤍❤️🖤🤍. 💜💜🤍🤍

  4. Burkeville (2-4) travels to Chester (3-4) this coming Friday night for a big district match-up. Leverett’s Chapel (4-2) is leading the district, with High Island (1-6) rounding out the district. If you have never been to a 6-man game I invite you to make the trip to beautiful Aubrey Bradley Stadium in downtown Chester. Burkeville has a very storied and successful history in football and this should be a great game. 1-A doesn’t get much love or coverage, but football is still a big thing in small towns too. The weather should be great, concessions are always good and the atmosphere will be exciting. If you make it let me know and I’ll keep an eye out for you. These two are old long-standing district mates and hopefully this will be a great game.

  7. If the coaches were smart they would get an officiating crew from outside the Beaumont area. Too many close games this year have been decided by the officials from the Beaumont area.

  13. Why aren’t the liberal talking heads and politicians not having a fit about this. but yet we provide a conveyor belt for the same filth coming across our border. Each day that passes the more and more I am repulsed of liberals…and each day I’m surprised that I can be more repulsed than the last. I know we have pills for everything, do we have one for stupidity.

  24. Again, this is the current staff at WB's third season. Just three seasons ago WB competed every year and made the playoffs! You keep throwing all these abstract reasons like they're facts but are really just your attempt to sound smarter than everyone else. So is it the mystical equipment, facilities, resources, or is it the culture of the city, schools, and COVID. I didn't realize that COVID only affected Beaumont and their schools. LMAO... Dude you're either on one of those losing coaching staffs or you're a guy that has another screen name and are trying to use this one to cosign on your opinion.

  25. United made the playoffs 2 years in a row under Graham in 5A. Yall ran him out. The BMT schools can't compete in 6A anymore. Those schools they have to play are growing and growing in attendance & talent pool. The culture at WB is particularly poor. It takes more than just coaching at a school to be successful. It takes an admin that is aligned with athletics. It takes an admin that is willing to actually discipline kids. That's on more of BISD as a whole though. So, yes, when you apply the fact that things at BMT schools are as bad as they are to the addition of having to play those growing power houses..... it makes sense. You asked for it to make sense. Those communities are on completely different trajectories than BMT that they have to play. The football programs haven't recovered from COVID either. The schools haven't recovered from it. They went virtual and have had to play catch up in integrity and numbers for football ever sense. United had like 13 freshman football players during the COVID year. Come on man. Those kids are Seniors right now. WB had more during COVID, but the culture of the school took a huge nose-dive from going virtual and then back. I know other schools dealt with some of the same things, but again, BMT was already struggling more than those places. It's riddled with poverty and crime on a pretty alarming scale. It's all a part of the village, man.

  28. I really feel sorry for who ever is 3rd in this district if they have to go to Forney...you guys are going to get hosed....worst officiating I have seen in a while. You can see it in both the Longview and Lancaster games...both teams way outgained forney and had penalties occur at the worst possible times when they were driving for a score...they don't even try to hide it.

    District 17-5A Standings

Well a couple put up a fight, the rest just wanted to get to the homecoming game. It is what it is. PNG still has a chance of sneaking into that 4th spot.

  34. I’ll leave PNG #33 to the side right now because it’s all been said. But TC’s #22 is a monster. Heavier and taller than most running backs, and faster than he looks. It takes two or three guys to bring him down most of the time. Ned’s defense took a step forward against FB Marshall. And, Tezino and Thomas have serious speed. Those are the biggest pluses for Nederland. And, Sunday has guts and wheels. That’s not nothing. For MCM, my gut says PNG wins. The defense isn’t a fluke - It’s crazy consistent and has shown very few gaps. And the offense is pushing people around. But, it’s MCM (you only have to go one year back to when PNG barely beat a Nederland team that is significantly worse than this year) and Nederland IS getting better, despite all the frustrating mistakes, and I think Nederland is good enough to take advantage of any wild weirdness MCM brings. On paper, PNg is better across the board, but the game is played on the field. So, we’ll just have to play the game. If I was betting, I’d say PNG by 10. I’m more confident predicting Texas City because that game won’t have the same X-factor MCM does - based on total body of work and coaching, TC has every advantage against Nederland. I don’t think that game will be close, no matter what happens the week before.

  38. the current state of Beaumonts high school football needs a complete reset from top down(both). it's sad but true. Not a single soul on Earth can/will convince me that there is not the skill and talent there to do better than what the records/games reflect.

  39. It will be a good one for sure as this will be Westwood's biggest test thus far. I'm pretty sure if Diboll limit Westwood's QB designed plays specifically for him then they should win it by a pretty good margin.
    1 point
  40. I feel the same. I’ve not bought into the Westwood hype (will find out next Friday), but I’m looking forward to the Coldspring vs Woodville matchup. Right now I give the edge to Woodville but wouldn’t be surprised if Coldspring pulled it out. I will say that Diboll defends the slot T pretty well (Franklin had 162 total yards against Diboll) so I like Diboll’s chances against Coldspring if they get past everyone else before them. Just my opinion on the unpredictable world of high school football. Gotta love it!

Even if you want to go with Hefner as the collegiate player he has had a hard time finding a role on the team. Weisbrod was a very very good player once he moved back home. Dominated the juco level and then came in and was one of the top 5 players in the confrence for two years. Jamie Weaver averaged 3 points a game at Houston and then had to transfer to Hawaii where he didn’t even end up finishing out playing basketball. If you want to go with the guy who played HS ball in the 40s and 50s go ahead I guess. Point is, those other two have been to better programs, and Hefner was 100% the better prospect, but no one who has played at Nederland has been better than Colton.

A Heff/Wiesbrod debate is laughable at best. The gab between their high school talents and skills are as wide as the Pacific Ocean.

Weisbrod was the mvp of the State his senior year. He was an undersized 4 at the next level so that dictated his offers. A 6-4 SG is more marketable at the collegiate level than a 6-5 (at best) PF. However, if it’s the best HS player, it’s gotta be Weisbrod. And I love me some Hef. As for the other guys, way before my time so can’t speak to them. Colton is also on the very short list of best players in SETX in the last decade.
