  5. From what I’ve seen of the BH run game, just not sure they’re strong enough to take pressure off Fuentes & the passing game. If PAM can play their typical 425 & slow BH run game, BH is in trouble. PAM is weak up the gut against the power run unless they stack the box like they did against LP. This will be the chess match. If BH can throw in some pistol where their RB (Rodriguez I think it was) can hide and make PAM read the guards, it’ll buy Fuentes some time in the pocket and PAM will have to crowd. If they just run their normal pro type sets, PAM is talented enough defensively this year to nullify and sit/pressure on the pass. Since I haven’t seen BH live at what is full strength D-wise, not sure how they’ll stack up. PAM’s run game is solid. But, not like LP in that it’s not a power run game. Martin & Baker are speedy and hit the holes quick. They go down a little easier than LP’s Barnes, Sandolf & Bright. Can’t really compare the RB’s as they’re fairly different styles. Neither team’s OL fires off downfield like LP’s. Different styles. They’re more adept at pass pro, but can open lanes at the LOS. PAM’s receiving core is very solid. They anticipate & make excellent downfield routes. Best deep balls I’ve seen in district play. Not big. But very good hands. Not many dropped balls. The 3 or so minutes around the half against LP totally changed the momentum of our game. When LP missed the TD opportunity in the redzone ahead by 21 and going for the kill, then missed the FG, went into half, came out & fumbled the KO return, PAM jumped. BIG. At least a 13 point swing…possibly more. Momentum was PAM’s, and they never looked back. (Of course, they also began stacking the box at that point which was also big.) Seeing both against a common/solid opponent, PAM—IMHO—is the more dangerous team. But, they can be had if a solid team eliminates mistakes and makes them play straight up. TO’s—as usual—will make or break this game. JMO I’ve got PAM by at least a TD in a fairly low scoring contest for these teams. Say, 28-21. There may be weather. If wrong, I’ll be back to congratulate BH where the Scientist dude doesn’t get his feelings all hurt. 😁

  7. as a kicker, I will say this... if you pass up the opportunity for your kicker to kick 30-40 PATs throughout the year, you better hope like heck you don't end up in a playoff game needing a 25-yd fg to win as time expires.

  13. And LP crushed Lee while PAM struggled. Yes. All about matchups. Funny to mention, but PAM also has a very good weapon in their PK. Strange to see that from a PAM team. If it comes down to that, edge PAM.

  16. But no one said you had to have 15,000 plus fans to have a game. Again, Lamar holds 16,000. That's just 3500-5000 more than The Rez and Bulldog Stadium. That extra is not going to matter for the team and the extra costs will not be worth just a third more of attendance. Both teams would lose more revenue just to convenience a third more people. I have been to MCM a few times. I honestly do not think 5000 people is getting turned away from this game on a yearly basis.

If Ned plays clean then they can beat Sante Fe. The difference between 3rd and 4th is big. RSS and GCM have no shot against FW, but I think that RSS has a punchers chance against this years Manvel team. Not sure about GCM, maybe they do as well. BH should bury LP.

    RIP Hagar

It is with great sadness I report that Hagar passed last night. He had been battling cancer for some time, along with his wife of 55 years. She passed less than 2 months ago, and our buddy just joined her. He missed her dearly, obviously, and was surely overjoyed to join her. He had just gotten a positive report but developed an infection this week his body couldn’t fight off. His daughter reports that he passed peacefully in the night. Hagar was someone we all enjoyed posting, and he was a great friend. I met him through this message board, and was blessed to develop a friendship over the past several years. I debated where to post this (either here, the football board, or the Locker Room), but I feel like this is the one where he posted and enjoyed the most. He will be deeply missed. Prayers for his beloved son, daughter and grandchildren. As you can imagine, he was very proud of them and an incredible dad and grandad to them all.

  20. I think Coldspring wins this game by 10 to 14 points. Shepherd has a solid RB but the Coldspring defense should be able to contain him. Playoff implications adds to an already tense rivalry game, so it should be a great atmosphere and a great game Friday night.

  24. I’ve watched a couple of bronco games. One that stands out is the Brenham game last year. Light rain. Wind blowing like crazy. Cold as heck. Dayton comes out passing like there’s no tomorrow. Meanwhile one of the best if not THE best running back touches the ball less than ten times. Most being in the final few minutes of the game. It made no sense.

  25. It's certainly a mixture. Great players can only overcome so much poor coaching, but in the same breadth, great coaching can only elevate marginal players so far. The players are the most important part, because you'll never win without them, but the coaches will play an important role.
    1 point
  26. Great coaching recognizes the talent their players may or may not have then adjust their system around those players to put them in the best position to win. One example is BISD having lots of talent but without a proper coach the y can't produce wins. Another is Crosby being consistent winners until their coaches left and they hit rock bottom. One Crosby coach goes to Chapel Hill and makes them winners instantly. There is too many examples of this to list

  35. LP to BH is like Vidor to Crosby. We just can’t seem to match up. I mean when KWP took LP to OT then BH kills them 56-14! Make it make sense. BH plays teams like PAM better for some reason they just have to contain which is easier said than done. Our secondary will need to play lights out , but no worries now for our front 7 they are physical and will bring the wood.

  41. BH will get 250 plus passing. The QB is very mobile once he recognizes he needs to escape the pocket. He’s made big plays downfield doing this. If he decides to stay in pocket, it will be a long night for the Eagles. BH expects PAM to be athletic and I like you dismissing the athleticism of this team, as you obviously not seen them. You’ll get us at our healthiest all season so if it makes one feel better to type it out and insinuate BH is not. 🙄 no more athletic than Shadow Creek that BH has scrimmaged past two seasons. PAM will get big plays but to think BH will not, you have not watched any games or highlights. I wouldn’t be surprised if it became a shootout. Watching PAM, their secondary has not seen a team like BH. I’ll eat crow if I’m wrong. Up until this last game, one thing we’ve been bad about is unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. We have a couple players that can’t seem to maintain composure at times. I’d expose that if I was PAM. They’ll know who to pick on.

  42. No, I am saying the seats are only 15 inches wide on the Visitors side at Nederland. No room for stadium seats. Also, absolutely no leg room. Sardine can packing. It is pitiful. At PNG Visitors side reserved are 17.5 inches wide with enough room for seats and legs. That's what I am saying. PNG Visitors side decent, Nederland Visitors side indecent.

  43. crying on this site will not change it. You have to change your school board who has the power for the final hire on the superintendent and coach. we had a problem years ago at Burkeville and we got behind a select number of candidates (which I was one of) got elected and we changed the system which included getting rid of the superintendent. I hear your cries and I feel your hurt. Get some people who are respected in the community that have your views that are willing to run and get behind them. Good luck to my friends at WOS.

    Snapshot Day

Imo it's been the constant flow of youth away from Orange. Kids that can get away to go to college don't come back. And if they do, they don't go back to the neighborhoods they grew up in. They buy homes in LCM, OF, or BC. It's the reason I have a classmate on the school board at OF. And several teach at other districts in OC. Many of the names I see at other schools are kids of WOS alumni. We have former players that coach at other districts in state and out. Graduates becoming HS principals, not back home where they could actually make the difference. But in more affluent areas where you can still get a steak after 9pm and pizza delivered until 3am. Comfort, convenience and job opportunities abound in places like Katy and Spring. So how many of them wanna come back to Orange to witness this small town politics that has taken over our schools? Close to none. I can only think of one that hopefully still has a return home targeted for his future. 🤞🙏🧢 112%
