  3. After a few years into his tenure at Dayton very very seldom did Stewart get blown out ! Maybe a loss against LK Travis for the region final, pre-district he scheduled big schools like Fort Bend Elkins and Eisenhower and win most times. Several district and regional championships, State final appearance- records that any Dayton coaches since cant even begin to scratch. He used to hold defense coaching clinics where coaches all over the state would attend. He was and an outsider with no buddy or political ties to the local click his only goal was to Win!!!

  5. Players + Coaching + Competition level = Success Any 2 of the 3 can lead to a great year. Maybe not a state championship year, but good year. Just having 1 of the 3 isn't enough. It takes good players.. and it takes preparation/strategy. But that wouldn't be enough in a juggernaut district/region/classification. It happens every two years... Same relative coaching staff, a lot of the same players, but reclassification may turn zeros into heroes or vice versa. Just like I've seen good coaches have mediocre years because of lost talent or even graduation. Or injuries... And not that great of coaches can have pretty good years if they have a lot of talent or are in a weaker level of competition. It's crazy to think that there aren't a lot of variables. But I will never be convinced that all it takes is great coaching. MOST coaches are practicing stuff that is designed to be successful. And MOST coaches are taking stuff from coaches/teams that are successful.

  7. Congrats to the Rangers. The better team won. I canā€™t figure out what home field advantage is all about. Neither team won at home. Still an Astros fan. That will never change. Will pull for the Texas team to win it all. Best state in the country.

  8. lol, you were hoping to do that, can't blame you. It would have been a mistake to count either team out, but even though I'm an Astros fan, the team with the best chance at winning the WS moved on. Astros have a rally killing dead spot in the lineup that needs to be fixed, the Rangers don't.

  9. Who teaches the players how to block, how to defend the pass, what they are supposed to do in different situations, who inspires them? Oh , thatā€™s right theyā€™re born with that knowledge.

  13. What a terrible night. Stros lose and I lost $20 to my daughter on 49er/Viking game. She took the Vikings but I had to give her 7 points. Looks like that won't matter. Good luck Rangers in the World Series.

  17. It's certainly a mixture. Great players can only overcome so much poor coaching, but in the same breadth, great coaching can only elevate marginal players so far. The players are the most important part, because you'll never win without them, but the coaches will play an important role.

  18. This, you have to have talent, its not strictly Xs and Os. I have seen coaches destroy talent by running the wrong system. IE had spread personnel but brought in the triple option because that's what he likes. A good coach looks at what he has, uses the best system to utilize that talent and then it comes down to how does he relate to them, how does he motivate them, how does he adjust when they study your film and take away what you want to do. A lot of the deeper rounds of playoffs comes down to who can adjust the best when your game plan gets thrown out the window.

  25. Maybe they knew something we didn't after 3 seasons with the broncos he is lacking in game leadership and live game management other than that I'm sure he's a nice guy. We don't need nice guys we need proven successful coaches. The superintendent and schoolboard are as much to blame they get plenty of highly qualified candidates and choose politics over winning ( who cares about the fans or players )

The Astros winning the 2022 title with Dusty as the manager might be one of the most impressive feats a team has ever accomplished. Thereā€™s a reason 4 teams have told this guy to kick rocks. Bochy has managed circles around him.

  41. That is strange. Did McDermott transfer? Heā€™s easily the second best player in the region behind Jared and honestly BTW will be better on some nights than last year with addition by subtraction (I.e., those nights when Lewis couldnā€™t hit the broad side of the barn - he was going to put up his 20 shots whether he was on or not).

  42. I thought about going to this game so I can keep my streak of attending at least one game at that stadium going since it opened. But, nobody offered to pay me to go. Also, I have been told from some local coaches to expect a playoff game or two to be held there this year so I can keep my streak going that way. Now, if someone paid me or at least bought my pregame meal at Pappadeaux's, then I might consider. I got United winning 18-6.

  43. as a kicker, I will say this... if you pass up the opportunity for your kicker to kick 30-40 PATs throughout the year, you better hope like heck you don't end up in a playoff game needing a 25-yd fg to win as time expires.

    ALCS- Lone Star Series

the only reason I brought it up is because I keep hearing all the astros fans talking about how classless Garcia is for celebrating a home run, while in the same breath acting like Altuve is the flawless messiah of baseball. In that instance, it's worth noting that, despite Altuve being a great player and a great guy, he's done far worse than Garcia has ever done.

  48. A big problem with moving it is PNG Band gets the profits from visitor side concessions and pretty much the only time they actually make a substantial profit is when MCM is at home and possibly PA Memorial IF we play them preseason cause the Houston area schools MIGHT bring 300 fans COMBINEDā€¦..itā€™s SAD!
