HJ and Liberty currently compete in all sports from junior high up to varsity against Liberty, Huffman, Livingston, Splendora and Hamshire-Fannett. Football is the only district that doesn't look like that. So to me if there's no rule against it and they choose to move up, let it be.2 points -

let’s be honest Lumberton won when Babin was there and made the playoffs in 5a, we dropped down and he made the playoffs in 4A. Then the best football group comes up as soph in a 3 year span who are really good athletes and they dominate. It’s not like Lumberton program was in bad shape when coach Reyes came in, Babin did a pretty good job reyes just runs a better offense that suits his personnel that he has right now.2 points -

BH Vs. McKinney North Bi-District
Separation Scientist and one other reacted to jbabi86 for a topic
My post was around more on what each team is trying to do offensively. My watch of BH is that they are more pass oriented vs. McNorth wanting to run the ball. Agree both will have to play in the elements, but some teams are better suited for adverse elements than others.... so goes the saying "pack your running game and defense"2 points -

I'm old school and I like just two teams going to playoffs. But, I'm good with 4 teams as long as every district has a minimum 7-8 teams. I don't like 4 teams going out of a district that has just 4-6 teams in it. A team should be required to win more district games than they lose or at least be .500 to get a playoff spot. I have seen some playoff teams only win one district game and actually seen a team go without winning a district game because they were in a district with just 4 teams. I could care less what a teams overall record is because non-district games don't factor in and some teams schedule harder than others in non district. But IMO, a team should have at minimum a .500 record in district play to qualify.2 points -
Baytown Goose Creek Memorial (0) @ Crosby (61) - FINAL
jake94 and one other reacted to Cougar14.2 for a topic
Well, can't say I didn't call it. I just wish I would've been wrong. Everything I said about us making the Joe Willis hire this offseason is exactly what played out. If you watched all the Tyler Legacy games I did this past offseason you would've most likely come to the same conclusion as me that him going 2-8 last year and backing it up with another 2-8 this year isn't a coincidence. Before the season started I said "This isn't Cedar Park", meaning all of the built in advantages that he had there or even Colleyville Heritage, do not exist at Crosby. People on here that know absolutely nothing about our program had strong opinions on my remarks regarding why I don't think the hire "fit" Crosby. I said he was an older, lower energy CEO type coach that didn't fit our culture. I said he ran a system that didn't fit our personnel and actually exacerbated issues Riordan and Prieto covered up so well, like good coaches do. We've kind of always been on the lower end of the the participation scale. I said before the season that if kids and parents didn't like what they saw that they would just transfer out to one of the other nearby schools, and they have. Depending on how convicted some of the other parents are to their remarks I heard them make this year, we could be looking at a major exodus of talent from the lower classes over the Spring semester and Summer. I didn't comment all year because there was nothing positive to mention and there was no point in running the coach down every week for things that everybody could turn on a game and see themselves. It was the worst play-calling we've witnessed since Flannigan, the worst scheme we've seen since Flannigan and the worst personnel moves we've seen since Flannigan. This is magnified by the fact that no assistants wanted to come work for Willis so we have a bunch of local guys with very little actual coaching experience to help mitigate the issues. I think Willis is a good coach and I can see the end intentions on a lot of the things that didn't play out the way he thought they would, but he's an old coach set in his way and convinced they'll work. Not sure how long he's going to be here as I've heard he was only given a two year contract but what I will say is that outside of him finding the easiest non-district games he can for next year, I wouldn't expect Crosby's record to look much different than it did this year for the foreseeable future. *Today Crosby votes on a new $85M bond for another elementary school, a second middle school, an expansion of the 5 year old high school and general facility maintenance. Bond says they expect Crosby ISD to get 5,000 new students by 2033 meaning a projected high school enrollment ~ 3,800. Basically the new alignment will be the last two years Crosby has to try to be competitive before going in to the 6A abyss. Sad state of affairs what an administration can do to a program but here we are, had some fun times though.2 points -

Austin1985 reacted to Christian for a topic
You know we can all look at a picture and see something different and that's understandable. I have always been an follower of football and have not missed a PAM game since they came into existence, and yes I was at the Mud Bowl, almost jumped in the mud with them. With that said, I have seen all the Coaches that came through PAM. PAM is average or good because of the Athlete's that have come through. When we match up Athlete for Athlete is when coaching comes into play and we cannot compete. That's when our weaknesses shows up. Just go back and watch some of those games and really look with an open mind and you to will say, Damm why he did that or called that play. Hope we win Friday night and yes I will be there.1 point -
Lol…. I hear ya. I doubt they get a crew outside of the metroplex due to the number of games and availability. But they will be fair because it is not Longview…😉😎1 point

Only Huffman and Livingston would be in that football district if they chose to opt up. Splendora is going 5A and Hamshire-Fannett is in the 4A DII football district with those two teams. If they stay in the same other sports districts in this next realignment, they wouldn't be with Bridge City, LC-M, Lumberton and Vidor. They would still have to schedule different middle schools and sub varsity for other sports.1 point -

I'm called biased for my PNG background and now HJ lol. My parents went to TJ. Grandparents to Hemphill and Orange. So let's throw some more in there haha. A BUC 77 reacted to FearTheSpear for a topic
Nederland could keep it close. If they can win in the trenches and control TOP they have a shot. If Lake Creek looks at the record and thinks they have it in the bag, they may be in trouble. Remember last season when they were blowing people out until the met FBM and were humbled real quick. Different areas of the state play different brands of football. Hit ‘em in the mouth Dogs1 point -
(1) UIL collects revenue from playoff games. More games = $$ (2) I like four teams in, and more teams solves a couple problems while not depriving the playoffs of what makes playoffs great. In the old days, teams were often punished for being in good districts. In 1999, state-ranked Nederland team sat at home because West Orange and PNG beat them. Both West Orange and PnG made good playoff runs, and it’s reasonable to expect Nederland would have as well. Far weaker teams than Nederland across the state made the playoffs because they were in weaker districts. I see the dilutive effect of adding more teams, but only if “making the playoffs” is the prize I’m protecting. But, our goal isn’t to see who can make the playoffs. Our goal is to arrive at the best team in the state via a single-elimination tournament. More teams doesn’t hurt that, and there have been four seeds who made it really far (I want to say some have made it to state because I remember hearing that from Dave Campbell’s, but I don’t know for certain).1 point
