  1. I don't know of anyone from LH that walked out of the stadium last year believing the outcome would have been significantly different if Noah Long and Joe Pitchford weren't injured. PNG out played us, out coached us and the fans out spirited us. Hell, even the band was better. LH has already overachieved many fan's expectations this year. Our offensive production is down this year and our pass defense is actually worse than last year. What this team lacks in size, elusive speed and elite talent, we make up for in heart and relentless tenacity (at times). Many LH fans want to move away from the Slot-T but I believe this scheme is the primary reason why we consistently make deep runs into the playoffs. Keep an eye on the 165lb Noseguard (#44) because he is fun to watch. That kid has a motor like no other and MAY get home a couple times if the O-line gets caught sleepin'. Good luck PNG fans! I hope the game is competitive, injury free and everyone leaves it all out there on the field. Regardless of the outcome, I'll be in Arlington next week watching a full day of football with my son who will hopefully be playing in this game next year!

  2. I have nothing but respect for LH. Even spoke with the coach the week after the game. He was a very respectable and had much sportsmanship. He wished us the best and said he hoped we won it all. I am thankful for teams like LH who have and know what sportsmanship is. Last year after the final play a LH player laid on the field upset. Two Indians ran over and helped him up and hugged him. It was a beautiful thing. I have been told on here I am not the person who can determine what sportsmanship is that its subjective. I disagree. Sportsmanship is what it is. PNG and LH both have it. So does Brenham, and Dayton. Their are others just some on the top of my head.

  3. That's a great show of sportsmanship . Shows the kinda of character were need more of in our country .

  4. Several highly uninformed and very much not press football people have indicated the 6A cutoff will be 2270 this year... Aledo? 2267. *tinfoil*

  5. Multiple coin tosses take place. A home or home coin toss never happened, so he couldn’t pick to play in Austin. He got to pick between stadiums near the halfway point, and purposefully chose to play at a smaller stadium. Defend him all you want, but he is the reason PNG was buying up tickets on their side.

  6. Very interesting thread. I went to PNG schools for 10 years and then moved after the 10th grade. Always regretted it. Was a grade above Jeff The Jet. Went to all the PNG state playoff games since then and all the PO games during the 70's run. Been quite a while since I visited this site and pullin for dem NDN's. Go Tribe, scalp 'em ! Even got my Canadian born wife to go last year who doesn't even understand football much (hockey, yes, but only rudimentary football knowledge ... but she went crazy screamin' for the Purple and White). Very impressed by the PNG passing game. And the HC has the pedigree!! They're obviously well coached. One last note and Indian fans listen to me. The PNG teams of the 1970's were almost always undersized. Heck, the starting center in the state playoff game against Plane weighed in at a whopping 175 (Clint Lough). Technique and heart goes a long way toward winning. Size is important all things being equal but athleticism and desire can trump size.

  7. I know both teams will come out and give all they got. If we repeat the bad play calling we did last year, then we lose...period. From what I have seen in playoffs our OC has called good games and our defense is playing lights out as a team. We are not a single star of Noah Long, Ben Carter, Joe Pitchford, Alister Vallejo, etc. We're not a team of the Offense carries the Defense or the Defense caring the Offense. Since playoffs, this team of Panthers plays as a team on Offense and Defense. I've been involved in LH football for close to 20 years and coached many of them when they were bobble heads. The adversity this team has faced this year and to be where they are today says a ton about their character and fight. These young men will give all they have and I know the LH coaches will not let them down. PN-G we know you will bring all you have. I can see either side winning, but obviously I pick LH. It's going to be one heck of a ball game!!! I'm hoping everyone staying injury free, refs are at the top of their game, and save travels to all the fans supporting these young men.

  9. Yes this stadium is 100 yds long with an end zone on each end, very rare!

  10. Harris has done an excellent job being the man on this team in Miller's absence. Crazy as it may sound, Miller is the leader of this team when he's playing. He didn't score a lot of points tonight, but Jones did a good job on defense and handling the ball. Not sure he turned the ball over even 1 time when it was in his hands.

  11. +1 For the record, I like LH, and I enjoyed watching last year's game, win or lose. The previous 2 games last season against ALBJ and FBM were hard fought tough games; and the previous 2 games this season against MLC and Huntsville were both pretty tough games, and we didn't escape either game without a few injuries. I'm looking forward to this Friday's game, and also hope it's a clean, injury free game. Edit: Also hoping for good refs.

  12. I definitely don't have any notion of we will 100 percent win this game. Just making observations that slant my way. I hope it is a clean, injury free game and if LH wins I will definitely be rooting for them the next week.

  13. Well, a part of me feels bad cause a lot of LH fans very likely won’t get tickets BUT that’s on THEIR COACH for not agreeing to a bigger stadium!

  14. Great username and welcome to the board! No way y’all can get away from the Slot-T. It’s the great equalizer. Y’all run it better than anyone in the state and your past success proves it.

  15. Good Luck to y'all also and Thanks for a classy post ! I've no illusions on how this game could and may turn out , but LH teams have surprised me in this past and I'll root for them to do just that this game and like I've said before however this game turns out I'll root for the team tht makes it to Dallas .

  16. I want to share a story from last year. After the game, my folks and I went to the Whiskey Cake in Katy for a very late dinner. I had driven in from Leander that afternoon and they had left PN-G late due to work. Nobody’d had the time to eat beforehand. There was a family in the restaurant from Liberty Hill sitting a few tables down from us. They had a little girl with them, maybe seven or eight years old, and an older boy who appeared to be late middle school or early high school age. I figured he was a player on the freshman team. That little girl realized we were from PN-G and gave us the evil eye for the entire dinner. I’m talking a full hour of this girl glaring at us from across the dining area, non-stop. You could feel the heat coming off this girl’s gaze. I had to fight not to crack up all night because every time I’d look over to my left, I had the possessed girl’s hellish stare from the exorcism movie looking straight back at me. You could tell the PN-G crowd, the War Chant and Cherokee had driven this poor girl insane that night. Her parents picked up on what was going on and came over to talk to us after they finished their meal. Couldn’t have been nicer folks. Wished us luck in the championship, complimented the fan base - just nice, small town people. I told them I lived just down the road in Leander and drove in for the game. Even for a fan base like Liberty Hill’s that generally travels well, you could tell they were shocked that out-of-town alumni would make a drive like that to see the Indians play. This is the game where our fan base earned the “rabid” label online last year. Every time I think about that, I think about that ferocious glare from that little girl. I have a feeling I’m gonna feel it coming across the field at me again this year. Scalp ‘em!

  17. [Hidden Content] Had the pleasure of being on a teaching and coaching staff for 3 years with Todd. Simply stated, in my 25 plus years in education, there is not a person I respected more. God Bless his family.

  21. I'm going to respectfully disagree there's multiple stadiums smaller than Cy Fair FCU Stadium that could have just as easily been selected...I'm just not buying Coach Walker chose that specific stadium for the specific reason to keep PN-G fans out...sorry

  25. If I'm the LH coach I wouldn't want to play at Legacy Stadium where they lost last year. I wouldn't want to play at NRG where PNG just won. Whatever reasons he has for that stadium are probably good ones that he feels benefit his team. I got our tickets for the family as soon as I saw the link. I'm just hoping PNG fans choose to buy a lot of seats on LH's side instead of deciding not to go. It would be pretty crazy to look at the home side and see people standing for Cherokee and doing the Tomahawk Chop.

  28. My advice, FWIW, don’t hire home cooking. Might want to follow what PNG did! How about going after that assistant coach at Rusk with the son that’s a good QB? Wouldn’t hurt to ask if he’s interested!

  29. This is correct. Liberty Hill’s history in that stadium may be a factor, but limiting the PN-G turnout was clearly the primary concern. I don’t blame the man for trying to put his team on the best footing possible. PN-G crowds are a factor in the game. We all know that. I respect his motivation. But as PN-G fans, we can’t allow this kind of behavior to persist. The lesson has to be learned. You play this game with us, and we’ll teach you how it’s played.

  30. I don't think it had anything to do with the fans per se I just think he likes the stadium

  31. I seem to recall LH trying to pass the ball late in the game last year when the score was getting out of hand. I also seem to recall PN-G being ready for it.
    1 point
  32. Exactly - I don’t feel bad. We have to send a message to nip this petty behavior in the bud. If I was rich, I’d buy up the entire allotment of LH tickets so none of them can come. Their coach is trying to purposely turn our fans away from the game, it’s only fair to do the same. Nothing against any of their fans. I like LH, a lot. But, next time, maybe they’d just agree to the bigger stadium instead of playing stupid games. Huntsville wasn’t afraid of our crowd. South Oak Cliff wasn’t and won’t be afraid of our crowd. LH shouldn’t be afraid of our crowd.

  37. This team ain't gonna beat anybody good till they learn to get rebounds and loose balls defensively. Somebody should have been in that Lufkin kid's face and let him know what he is when he committed that flagrant on Harris that somehow wasn't one. Not sure how pushing a kid while he's in the air doesn't count. Not saying anybody should have threw hands, but it don't sit right with me our kids just stood there after that happened.

  42. When Vidor was in our district, those kids always played as a team and played HARD for 4 quarters. They were always the scrappiest team in district. Stick with Slot T, it's what got you here!

  43. Not in the long run - But it highlights how bad the officiating was, not just on that drive, but perhaps throughout the game. The refs made a lot of calls against Huntsville too, and it made me think the refs were trying way too hard to make the game about them. They were inconsistent.
    1 point
  44. Hell yea it matters, a singular referee is responsible for a scoring drive in a playoff game. 3 personal fouls in a row and missing that call is ridiculous

  45. Maybe when someone says I can't breathe you take your knee off their neck. I can just about guarantee that there are untold numbers of cops that would have produced a different outcome if they had come up on the scene. He was a bad cop with a bad history that came on the scene and was gonna show the younger cops how it's done. Apparently, a jury of his peers looked at the evidence and agreed. Floyd would have likely died at a later date due to his lifestyle but I don't believe it would have been that day except for the action of Chauvin. I'm a huge supporter of the cops but they need to police their own and get rid of trash like this. He should have never still been in uniform.

  47. I’m just anxious to see how a 165lb nose tackle does for 4 quarters. They rely on quickness up front obviously but we’re talking 100-150lb weight difference here. If the PNG offensive line gets to the second level, the LH defense will be in for a LOOOOONG night. They’ll be forced to bring the safeties down and I like Nunnley, Adams, and Washington over anyone in their secondary.
