I would not sleep on LH. This is going to be a game. The deception in the offense will score points. We will need to play our game and stay turnover free. No punks left in the semi round. These guys know what we do, and we know what they do. I expect a tight game, unlike last year. Watch the game film. Expect them to load the box, and crash the end like everyone else is doing. We will have to adjust to win this one. However I expect “Red” to have a good plan for us, as he always does. If we can throw the ball enough, and keep them off balance, we can win. I do think we are the better matchup against SOC. But that’s another story for another week.3 points

Semifinal Rematch Discussion - PNG vs. Liberty Hill
prepballfan and 2 others reacted to PN-G bamatex for a topic
Alright folks, forum rules prohibit bashing an individual player. The commentary about Liberty Hill's nose tackle is getting excessive. You have to respect the heart and dedication of any kid that size who finds a way to play a position like that well. PN-G fans in particular should know that; many, many times, the Indians have overcome size and athleticism disadvantages to win games they weren't expected to win. Let's move on to another subject.3 points -

Whatever the outcome will be, Liberty Hill will hit PNG in the mouth so hard, their fans will feel it. And I guarantee this….no high school football player in the state of Texas is tougher or meaner than LH nose tackle Jacob Morris. There were literally three false starts by Huntsville’s offense on their first drive against PNG. Liberty Hill’s coach chose a stadium that would limit PNG’s fan base from attending in force. Own it. Be proud. Even if it gives off SERIOUS feminine energy.3 points -
Legacy is significantly larger (the Berry Center is, if my numbers are right, smaller than PNG’s stadium, while Legacy Stadium holds about 3,000 more than PNG at 16,000). So, if the concern is people being left out, we can benefit, as a whole, many more individuals at Legscy. Last year, Legacy Stadium didn’t start selling to PNG fans until PNG had sold out and, I presume, LH fans had already bought what they were going to buy. Even with PNG fans on their side, they all at least got to see the game. This week, a lot of PNG fans, and some LH fans won’t get to see the game, and that is certainly not through the choice of PNG fans. If we had our way, everyone from LH who wanted a ticket would have one, with room to spare. The LH coach thinks differently, apparently. I agree that holding the largest crowd on the home side makes sense (not for nothing, at Legacy both sides are equal). I sincerely hope you and your fellow LH fans have a blast on Friday, win or lose. It’s going to be a close game, certainly one to remember.3 points

Rob Corpus and 2 others reacted to Rez for a topic
Not to belabor the point, but they wouldn’t have to do it at all if they had picked a bigger stadium. They didn’t care when it meant fewer PnG fans would be able to attend. When some LH fans might not get to go, suddenly they have to take measures. They could have just made it where far more fans could get tickets by picking a bigger venue, which is always better for football and more fun for both sides. And, it’s not just about the competition. PNG fans LIKE Liberty Hill. We want to see Liberty Hill play. Seeing Liberty Hill is one of the unique experiences in high school sports. I hope if we play next year we pick a bigger venue because this could be a special rivalry and a fun time between the fans, instead of fighting each other for spaces in a small stadium.3 points -

Liberty Hill has the advantage of getting hot at the right time. Their young violent defense has merged together and found them selves. Due to consistent injuries early on, Liberty Hill has developed a deep roster from their backups playing lights out and now that we are back to health from starters, we have many duel threat weapons in our arsenal. That Nose tackle 44 has had a whole off season and summer of living in the weight room as well as playing Forward in Rugby. He hungry. I’ve had the honor and privilege of watching this particular young man grow up. He is a young General ready to go to war. I was thoroughly impressed by PNG last year against LH. From their aggressive old school football to their Gladiator arena crowd. A team being led by the son of a Legendary head coach has lived up to the bill2 points -

But if we played at Legacy stadium then it would still be the same issue, that’s why I recommend taking average or even the largest crowd for the season and the stadium needs to hold the largest crowd on their side. Then this never has to be about stadium sizes again, just about football.2 points -

“They”…Liberty Hill parents, family, friends, community did not pick the venue. We were not consulted or asked or anything, until the decision was made. I love the support and passion your community has. It should also be allowed to have any team buyh there side tickets without concern of the other side buying there side. I am not saying all PNG fans, but some did in fact post even before tickets went on sale, to buy on LH side. Again I am all for people watching their teams and made there needs to be UIL rules that take into account the average attendance and the playoff venues must support that on each side. I look forward to the game it will be a good one! May there be no injuries, fair calls, and all travelers be safe.2 points -
BUNA NEW COACH

I understand on paper it looked questionable. But I knew what kind of basketball mind KJ has and his passion for the game. And he’s always wanted to coach girls. It was a diamond in the rough situation to me. I also understand how well liked Remi deservedly is there. But I think he will end up being thankful he stayed with boys. I tend to believe things happen for a reason. He’s destined to be a very good one, maybe even a great one.2 points -

By the way we are building a PN-G library of football games on video, 8mm, or whatever you may have. We have already obtained games from the 1950's 1960's 1970's 1980s. 1990's 2000's. We only have a game or two of some of those decades. We actually have 2 games of PNGs all time leading rusher from 1955 Gordon LeBoeuf. If anyone is willing to share please message me.2 points -

I have no doubt LH is going to come out swinging. I think the question we need to ask ourselves re: Liberty Hill is what do they have that we aren’t seeing. I don’t see a lot in camera to make me worry, but they’re where they are for a reason. That speaks to immeasurables like character, grit, toughness, and mental discipline. They can win this game, and if we’re looking to At&T, they will.1 point

Couldn't agree more. I think both coaches ended up where they are supposed to be. Even though I am one of the people who didn't want to see Remi leave. He will have a head coaching job sooner than later. He's gonna be great. KJ is also doing one hell of a job with the girls in Buna, and is going to be great with our girls program. In the end, both sides of this argument had merit because both coaches are good! I know OF and Buna should both be very happy with those hires.1 point -

I agree that Region 4 seems a little weaker this year (it cycles), but when Liberty Hill has some size and speed (see 2020 and 2021) they’re one of the craziest things to watch in Texas. They won me over in their loss to Crosby in 2020.1 point

Thank you for the post. I will say this. From an inside source we had an offer on the table that would not of mattered and it was turned down by LH, Please understand I am in no way saying LH doesnt have a right to agree were to play or flip. I respect the gamenship. I know exactly what was said and that the venue that could have held everyone comfortable was turned down by LH. PNG is well known for their following, This goes all the way to the beginning when we were playing in the late 20s and early 30s and they had two hundred seat wooden stands and 6000 people would show up and sit in cars, lawn chairs, on blankets and so on to watch PNG. By the 30s they were in the10-1500 range. By the 50s the 20000 range and we all know about the 1970s. The real question is how does a small town the size of PNG set the all time attendance record? 5 of the top 10 attendance records in this wonderful state. Anyway best of luck LH and safe travels/1 point -

Multiple coin tosses take place. A home or home coin toss never happened, so he couldn’t pick to play in Austin. He got to pick between stadiums near the halfway point, and purposefully chose to play at a smaller stadium. Defend him all you want, but he is the reason PNG was buying up tickets on their side.1 point -

I don't know of anyone from LH that walked out of the stadium last year believing the outcome would have been significantly different if Noah Long and Joe Pitchford weren't injured. PNG out played us, out coached us and the fans out spirited us. Hell, even the band was better. LH has already overachieved many fan's expectations this year. Our offensive production is down this year and our pass defense is actually worse than last year. What this team lacks in size, elusive speed and elite talent, we make up for in heart and relentless tenacity (at times). Many LH fans want to move away from the Slot-T but I believe this scheme is the primary reason why we consistently make deep runs into the playoffs. Keep an eye on the 165lb Noseguard (#44) because he is fun to watch. That kid has a motor like no other and MAY get home a couple times if the O-line gets caught sleepin'. Good luck PNG fans! I hope the game is competitive, injury free and everyone leaves it all out there on the field. Regardless of the outcome, I'll be in Arlington next week watching a full day of football with my son who will hopefully be playing in this game next year!1 point -

Semifinal Rematch Discussion - PNG vs. Liberty Hill
ace2335 reacted to PN-G bamatex for a topic
I want to share a story from last year. After the game, my folks and I went to the Whiskey Cake in Katy for a very late dinner. I had driven in from Leander that afternoon and they had left PN-G late due to work. Nobody’d had the time to eat beforehand. There was a family in the restaurant from Liberty Hill sitting a few tables down from us. They had a little girl with them, maybe seven or eight years old, and an older boy who appeared to be late middle school or early high school age. I figured he was a player on the freshman team. That little girl realized we were from PN-G and gave us the evil eye for the entire dinner. I’m talking a full hour of this girl glaring at us from across the dining area, non-stop. You could feel the heat coming off this girl’s gaze. I had to fight not to crack up all night because every time I’d look over to my left, I had the possessed girl’s hellish stare from the exorcism movie looking straight back at me. You could tell the PN-G crowd, the War Chant and Cherokee had driven this poor girl insane that night. Her parents picked up on what was going on and came over to talk to us after they finished their meal. Couldn’t have been nicer folks. Wished us luck in the championship, complimented the fan base - just nice, small town people. I told them I lived just down the road in Leander and drove in for the game. Even for a fan base like Liberty Hill’s that generally travels well, you could tell they were shocked that out-of-town alumni would make a drive like that to see the Indians play. This is the game where our fan base earned the “rabid” label online last year. Every time I think about that, I think about that ferocious glare from that little girl. I have a feeling I’m gonna feel it coming across the field at me again this year. Scalp ‘em!1 point
