    PNG Coaching Change?

Defense changes is what is making PNG so successful. That’s the reason they won state. Hell of a coach! Congrats to PNG, but when Katy makes that call, just appreciate the time y’all had him. Maybe I’m wrong, but doubt it.

    2024 WOS Mustangs

We are now experiencing what it is like to hire a head coach with no head coaching experience. First thing he does is change offense and defense. Lack of success and lack of discipline have kids leaving the program. We have the same kids as Gilmer. Difference is in coaching. There was a time when kids wanted to wear that Mustang helmet from the time they were babies. They dreamed of that day when they could put on the blue and silver and run out on the field. Mustangs had swagger and it all started with quality coaching and high expectations and discipline. By the way, kids gravitate toward discipline instinctively. They instinctively gravitate toward accountability. These are good things that lead to success. You are getting what you are going to get out of HH. This is it. It’s time to hold RH and HH accountable for their records. Look at what is happening over at PNG. Oh that’s right… they went out and searched the state and opened up their wallet for Jeff Joseph and look at the results. WOS should be running deep into the playoffs every year and be in the running to make it to state. Right now we are a fourth place team at best limping into the playoffs with zero confidence and zero quality coaching. Our community and kids deserve better. RH and HH should be fired. By the way, RH’s record in improving academic scores is abysmal . A real superintendent committed to academics and athletics is needed. In addition a real extensive and exhaustive search for a quality HC AD REGARDLESS OF COLOR is needed immediately. We cannot be okay with average whether it’s academic or athletic. Say what you want, a successful winning WOS football program charges our community and brings us all together. We cannot sit by and let 43 years of Mustang tradition die without speaking up.

    A Tale of Two Cities

This forum is hilarious bro. A bunch of grown men who if I drew up football on the white board couldn't distinguish between A and C gap, a 4i and a 5, a shade and a 3 tech, zone or gap scheme blocking, and about a million other things. If you never coached, your opinion is just not as valuable as someone who has. Facts. It would be like a coach saying they know more about the plant you work at. They don't. For instance - if I were to mention something about "Heel line", a football coach would immediately recognize what I'm talking about and the only few scenarios of the game I would be talking about. Same thing if we were watching film and I mentioned something about "spilling". If you just had too google search that without immediately understanding and being able to recognize football vernacular, you don't know anywehre near as much as you're claiming about this game you love so much. Those are just small, simple examples. Every single football coach on planet Earth is going to tell you it's Jimmy's and Joes, not X's and O's. Every single one. But hey, you guys just know more.

  22. @Coach_Izzy How does Jim and Joe explain my Mustang downfall? DCTF had us ranked #2 in the state based on the returning players. Even after our HOF coach retired and handed the keys to an assistant. Did CT take the kids with him to the pasture? Or did the new coaches not have the same ability to produce champions? Or the wisdom to call plays instead of timeouts and delay of game penalties? (This isn't about coach bashing. Just a really good example) I know there's always an exception to the rule. But I've seen rookie coaches win the championship the past 2 seasons. And maybe further back if I go look. This is about admitting there is a correlation to Jim and Joe being coached up by someone who is an elite coach. Not just a good or great coach. MY Levels of Coaching BAD 0-10 but everyone plays AVERAGE 5-6 1st round exit GOOD 7-5 makes playoffs most years GREAT 10-3 battles for a DC and makes playoffs every year ELITE 13-1 expects to play in the region final every year, with a chance to play for the championship Now another thing I'd like to add to the conversation. All these different things that have been said about what makes a coach great... Leading and molding young men, making sure they stay in class and school, all the things that coaches do for their students off the field. That's the basic job description that we expect for every one of them. All coaches at all schools should be held to that minimum standard. But like @Reagan has said... we hire them with the expectation to win on top of that. Did anyone listen to any of the post game interviews? Nobody thanked the superintendents. All glory given to God. 24. Dotson has to stop playing like he’s the only one on the team, he forces lots of shots and just ignore others, United has to find another guard because that 5’6 guard is taking a beat down, 2 game I’ve seen them having problems with bigger players.

  26. Ok SETX family Leaving for Dallas. I say thank you again from the bottom of my heart. I truly hope someday that each and every one of your communties get a chance to play for State. Teams like WOS, BWB, Nederland, Crosby, Dayton, Newton, San Augustine, Bridge City, and other communities that have made it to State have the chace to do it again. I make this promise if at all possible I will be there to support you. WOS please continue to lead the way. SILSBEE you are so close. Keep plugging away you will be there soon. Dayton our purple brothers and sisters its past time you returned back to the Dayton of old. Beaumont and Port Arthur you are both loaded and capable of making state. I look forward to the day it all clicks and you are there as proud communities. The one thing I have learned is it takes a lot to make it to the SC but one important factor our coaching staff has taught me is that you have to believe that you came make it to state. Another thing WOS has taught me is that to make it ti State you have to have a good defense. I wish, hope and pray that each and every SETX schools has this opportunity some day. Know that the support from our big community has been noticed by the PNG community. You all have been amazing. Thank you again. Lastly I would like to say thank you to the Nederland community. So much support from you shows the bond of playinh for 100 times. The really cool shirts you have made honors us. We welcome all of you to the game and appreciate all of your support. Win or lose we are so thankful for you all. Thanks Setxsports.com for your coverage and dedication to our kiddos in the coverage area. You are an amazing bunch. Lastly lets go Indians. Thank you all and God Bless.

  27. OTOH, there are coaches who know every single one of those but are still piss poor coaches. I have worked with PhD’s that are outright stupid. Facts.

  28. coaching builds culture which makes better athletes and draws athletes to your program. it does not matter how many athletes you have if you do not put them in the right spots with the right calls

  30. Bruh if these jokers spent just 5 minutes in a room full of coaches on a white board drawing up some ball, they would be humbled. There is NOTHING on this Earth like football, with as many people absolutely obsessed with it, but don't actually know the technicalities, or even proper vernacular. By the way, Jimmy's and Joes includes not just talent alone, but kids that actually want to work hard - and know how to work hard. There are reason's beyond athletic talent that suburban schools are usually the most successful football programs, and inner city schools struggle.....

  39. Watching SOC on YouTube. The RB #21 Green is quick and elusive. Yikes. Not the biggest guy, but he can take a pop and bounce off tacklers. PN-G has seen some good RBs this season, but I don't think the Indians have seen anyone with his combination of quickness, vision, and the ability to slip away from tacklers. The SOC QB #18 reminds me of PN-G's #9...cool under pressure and making the right reads and throws. #18 can sling it. SOC defense is fast at all three levels, but I think PN-G's OL will be able to create some running lanes. The game will come down to PN-G stopping the run and PN-G winning some one-on-one battles in the passing game when SOC loads the box. Stopping the run is easier said than done. SOC has some DUDES on the OL and #21 zips right through their lanes. They are playing well. Glad PN-G has a shot to play the last 5A-DII game of the year and taking a shot at the defending champs. We've got a shot...what more can you ask for? Should be a good game. Tip of the cap to SOC coaching staff...they lost 11 scholarship kids from last season and they are back at the top, in the state championship. Impressive. P.S. One more thing. No turnovers this year. The Indians need to hold on to the ball. No safeties this year.
