  2. Need to mention Oceguera, the kicker. 4 FG is a record. Fantastic. Would not have gotten the W without him.

  3. A true champion shows their true colors during a loss. SOC, South Dallas, and SOC supporters have shown their self today. Taking one play out of 4 quarters of football and blaming that on the loss. Trying to take away what PNG accomplished today. Let's not talk about all the no calls on the SOC secondary. The drive prior to when it was blatant PI in the end zone and nothing was called. When Reid Richard is running down the sideline and gets tackled before the ball even gets there, no flag. Blaming the whole game on one call is a loser mentality and lack of accountability. PNG was the better team today.

    PNG Coaching Change?

I don’t know if Katy will ever be “Katy” again with all the new schools opening.

  5. Did anyone else see SOC defenders all wear purple gloves so they can blend in with our jerseys so they could get away with holding. Especially #2 with the purple sleeves. They had light blue gloves last week against Emerson. But we're being called cheaters and have an asterisk because the refs gave us the title

  6. Even though PNG is like 90 miles or so from Houston realizing this or not but not only yall played for SETX but yall played for the Houston area as well and not too many people will get that but the way yall represented yalls team like yall did and especially the fans they had no choice but to group yall with the Houston area so it was pretty obvious from the start but once I'm so proud of what you guys did yesterday and I hope this will be the start of a run here. (Except when you guys do play Huntsville again I have to roll with them since I work for the school district 😆)

  7. I want to say congrats to PNG on winning the state title. I, like so many others thought that was a terrible PI call. All the replays they showed during the game showed both players going up for the ball with absolutely no interference on the play. I know we have bad calls here and there, but game changers like this are tough to get over. During the Duncanville/Galena Park game, they showed highlights from the PNG game. It showed the PI play from a field angle that showed the entire route the PNG player ran. As he entered the end zone and made his turn to the ball, the defender was holding his arm and jersey. Why this particular replay was not shown during the game is beyond me. It was definitely PI and a good call. I hope PNG fans can understand why people like me were misled. Anyway, it made me feel better and PNG’s victory is a great one over SOC going for a 3-peat. PNG represents our district, area, and region, and we should all be very proud for them.

  9. Just finished watching the taped version. Great game on all accounts. Players coaches fans. When I first started watching I said no way PNG can beat these guys. Y’all hung in there. Great calls and great plays by Nguyen and many others. Congratulations PNG y’all won State SE Texas style. Grit and Heart. 👍

  10. When even DCTF is defending the refs, you know South Dallas has no case to prosecute. It was a good call. PN-G won, fair and square.

imo I don’t think son goes to Katy at all. He’s building his own legacy on his own.

  12. Exactly I'm obviously not the voice of all coaches, but the opportunity to build something sustainable is the greatest measure of a coach. Winning one is impressive. But, creating a long-term, winning culture that wins consistently and has the opportunity to win multiple State Championships is what all coaches want. The opportunity to stay in one place and CREATE a program that others are measured against is what it's all about.

  17. PNG O Line was not outmatched. Gave QB Bailey (also not outmatched) time to throw and opened enough holes for Nguyen to get down field. SOC big goal line package was stout. SOC DBs were fast, but we exploited that D over the middle with their LBs playing so close to the line. PNG D Line and LBs adjusted in second half and stopped the run. Forced the pass and you were right, we put pressure on QB and changed the game. Green was great but Bears staff were stupid not to throw some swing passes or screens to him. One on one he was trouble but they never worked to get him one on one. PNG Indians 2023 5A DII State Champions LEGENDARY

  18. Once again TY all for supporting us. I had the ability to see the play I was sitting just a few yards from it. The player grabbed our player and held him to keep in from running his route. SOC wore purple glove to prevent holding calls. Smart I guess. Not my type of thing, but I guess smart nonetheless. The refs were not a factor in this game. There was no more missed or extra calls than in any normal game. I thought they stayed out as much as possible. Met some great PAM people in our hotel who drove up to watch us play. A man from Northshore gave me a hug after the game and told us that he was proud that we brought a trophy back for US all of us in SETX. This is for SETX. Ofcourse its another trophy for PNG and I am proud of our boys, coaches, band, drill team, school, and ofcourse the Phillips family. The man from Northshore made me realize that when you win it represents your district, and your area. I didnt think about this whole Houston vs Dallas thing. Anyways again TY all. WOS you guys carried the torch so much in recent history. I hope we did a good job for all of SETX while you others finish what you started. There are several SETX teams that are close. I hope your time is next season. PNG has a ton back next season. Maybe we can make a decent run next season as well.

Due to Daughter's wedding out of town, just got the place where I could read all these comments I am super excited about this win, my new SIL was as excited about this win as his getting married and he's a recently converted Indian fan. Congratulations to a bunch of 16 - 18 yr olds who made a whole lot of old and New Indian fans very Happy, thanks for all the hard work starting way back in biggest heat wave we' had in years. Everybody admires hard work and heart which many of you showed us for the last few months. I know some of ya'll haven't stop smiling yet, TY, TY, TY

  27. Thank you for saying that, and I agree. I really wish we could have made Duncanville, but it would have been too tough to pull off this past Summer. We beat a good PNG team the other night by 10 and have Fairview out of Louisiana this coming Thursday. They were a real tough matchup last year, so hopefully they will check our oil a little and give us some good exposure. We also have a Crockett/Grapeland Tournament coming at the end of this month that may help. I honestly don't see any drastic ranking swings coming until us, Kountze, & EC start mixing it up. Should be a real fun season with real good battles. To be the best, you have the beat the best, and I'm sure our guys are up for the challenge.

  31. Well my streak has come to an end. Had 8 consecutive years of top 5 finishes coming into this season. Finished just outside in T7. But that makes 9 straight top 10 with a couple of overall wins in that span. I can live with that.

  32. Saban went 12-2 in his second season at Alabama almost entirely with recruits he inherited from Mike Shula. He won a national championship in his third season at Alabama with a quarterback Shula recruited and red-shirted. Saban will tell you the reason he wasn’t successful at Miami was because of the mentality in the NFL. The players were older and not as coachable. Between that and the team owner, he felt like he was managing egos, not coaching a team. It’s why he was adamant with the Alabama boosters that he runs the program and nobody else from day one at Alabama. He accepted the offer from Mal Moore on that condition. He doesn’t think he would be successful anywhere in the NFL.

Defense changes is what is making PNG so successful. That’s the reason they won state. Hell of a coach! Congrats to PNG, but when Katy makes that call, just appreciate the time y’all had him. Maybe I’m wrong, but doubt it.

    2024 WOS Mustangs

We are now experiencing what it is like to hire a head coach with no head coaching experience. First thing he does is change offense and defense. Lack of success and lack of discipline have kids leaving the program. We have the same kids as Gilmer. Difference is in coaching. There was a time when kids wanted to wear that Mustang helmet from the time they were babies. They dreamed of that day when they could put on the blue and silver and run out on the field. Mustangs had swagger and it all started with quality coaching and high expectations and discipline. By the way, kids gravitate toward discipline instinctively. They instinctively gravitate toward accountability. These are good things that lead to success. You are getting what you are going to get out of HH. This is it. It’s time to hold RH and HH accountable for their records. Look at what is happening over at PNG. Oh that’s right… they went out and searched the state and opened up their wallet for Jeff Joseph and look at the results. WOS should be running deep into the playoffs every year and be in the running to make it to state. Right now we are a fourth place team at best limping into the playoffs with zero confidence and zero quality coaching. Our community and kids deserve better. RH and HH should be fired. By the way, RH’s record in improving academic scores is abysmal . A real superintendent committed to academics and athletics is needed. In addition a real extensive and exhaustive search for a quality HC AD REGARDLESS OF COLOR is needed immediately. We cannot be okay with average whether it’s academic or athletic. Say what you want, a successful winning WOS football program charges our community and brings us all together. We cannot sit by and let 43 years of Mustang tradition die without speaking up.

  49. If PNG can stop the run and force SOC to pass it they have a shot. I haven't seen much from SOC in the passing game, however from a personnel standpoint they are severely outmatched at just about every position on the field.
