  1. Faircloth ran a great tremendous program at PNG! Won many many games for them, and his last year there he went to what round 4? Faircloth had a great winning culture, solid foundation was laid for Coach Joseph and company to come right in and get to work. It’s crazy to me the transition PNG had tho went from an offensive team we going to outscore you to a defensive team and limit positions. I mean look at that FBM Marshall game 7-0 win they had. But look how it has played out, offense will win you some games, but Defense wins championships!!

  2. Lots of factors......Neumans 11,12,13 teams went big school. Faced Georgetown a couple times and Pearland Dawson. the 01 semifinal team lost to Smithson Valley in the Semis. They in turn lost to a Pretty salty SLC team in the SC game. Matchups mean alot. As we speak, there's no comparison in the coaching at the 2 schools. Joseph walked into a good roster, and turned it into a State Contender. Winning is contagious and everyone wants to be a part, therefore he's clearing the hallways and getting so many more to work with He's also developing these kids and doing a fantastic job. He also has the benefit of the small school route. Just my take.......

  3. I don't wholly disagree with this statement, but I will make two counterpoints. First, the 2009 Indians could have won the state championship. Had it not been for a bad first half against Brenham played under the worst circumstances imaginable, I continue to believe today that PN-G would have played for the state championship that year, and would have had a very real shot at beating Aledo. Joe Dale Cary left after 2010, and the PN-G defense never recovered under Faircloth's leadership. That was the factor Faircloth was really missing, in my opinion. Second, offense may be entertaining for the fans, but I believe a strong defense is a huge factor in fan engagement, at least in any way that impacts the game. Most fans know not to be too loud when their team is on offense to avoid disrupting the snap count, and to be very loud when their team is on defense specifically because they want to disrupt the snap count or force other mistakes. Fans with confidence in a good defense are more likely to participate in that way, which in turn helps make the defense more successful, in turn boosting fan confidence in the defense. In short, they feed off of each other. For the Indians, the proof was in the pudding this year. The Indian Faithful were louder and more involved in the game this year than I can remember them being at any point post-2009.

  4. The only concern with gloves I'd have is if some team is using that old school stick'em stuff on em. Other than that play ball.

  5. I went from Troy (9th Grade) Malone (10th and 11th Grades) to Owens (12th Grade) and I can tell you the biggest difference between Malone and the other two was the Strength and Conditioning program as well as the intensity of the off season. Malone and his staff were on a whole different level from the others.

  6. We did this year. All I heard all year was we made it to state last year. I will yield to you as a many time over state winner that maybe even more so. This team is going to be loaded and as good as this SC team. Now is that good enough is the question. That whole O line is back less 1 player Both Jackson Christian and Aaron Woolford ( both holding power 5 offer's) The 10th grade QB is back (1644 yards 19 TDs and 2 pics) 2 more years, top receiver is back. Losing Nguyen is gonna hurt but the two others that are playing along side Blair (1206 yards 17 TDs) are really good backs. District Defensive MVP Hernandez (57 tkl 4.5 sack) is back at NT, Fuentes (43 tkl 4.5 sacks) is back at DE. #4 Wuenschel (84tkl, 4 sacks, 4 ints ) back at LB along with many others.

  8. PNG had a bullseye on their back this season. FBM, TC, Dayton, Ned, and then especially LH in the semi, all reportedly had last season's scores posted up on the locker room wall.

  9. No ma’am. It’s smart strategy. Just like an O Lineman grabbing up under a D Lineman’s pads and holding him til he pulls away. Part of the strategy and game. And holding is actually illegal whereas the same color gloves aren’t.

  10. Faircloth was a good coach. He just didn't have the "it" factor to be an elite coach. There's really nothing to be ashamed of, though, because at any one time there are only less than 10% championship-type coaches. But like you said, offense is for the fans -- defense wins championships. Always did and always will!

  11. I was told by a friend on here that Nederland's coaching directed weight training program was basically non-existent. This is part of the future of a potential elite coach. It appears PNG has it right. Some laugh when I say there's no difference in the athletes at Ned and PNG. Then they say, well, how can you say there's no difference, look at them. I said there is no difference in the athletes that "are available" to each team. Now, how each coach develops what's available to them is the difference in what you see now between PNG and Nederland.

  12. From the games I’ve watched so far I’m just really impressed with the freshman. I didn’t get to watch until the 4th quarter and I saw him drain three 3s. He’s only gonna get better

  14. There is no comparison between PN-G and Nederland when it comes to strength and conditioning...one of these is not like the other😄

  15. I've got alot of thoughts on this There's not a drastic difference at QB, RB, or WR between the two schools IMO here's where the difference is... PN-Gs offensive line this past year was the biggest I have ever seen at PN-G they are big and they can MOVE there is no comparison when you compare the offensive line of PN-G to Nederland PN-Gs offensive line can move mountains Nederland's offensive line could get blown over by a small win PN-G-both offensive and defensive coordinators as well as the offensive line coach won state BEFORE arriving at PN-G Nederland-not a single coach had ever won state PN-G is making the run that it is because of coaching the greater emphasis on defense and technique and the size of the offensive line all of those things Nederland has none of. I also don't think it's a facility issue nor is it a community support issue I'll close with this when Brandon Faircloth left PN-G the schoolboard made a decision we're going to go out and get the best coaches we can and it has paid off in spades...Nederland schoolboard doesn't care about being the best instead the priority is on what your last name is and if you're a good ol' boy or not...it's actually reached the point of complacency and contentment with 4 win seasons or less which after Larry Neumann had coached us I thought we would never get back to but here we are

  16. SOC also had more than enough time to make something happen in their last possession. They looked tired and possibly deflated and PNG dominated them for that last couple minutes. Personally, I wish the refs would've called more things early in the game (there were plenty), so there wouldn't be anyone trying to tarnish what PNG's kids did. Amazing game.

  17. That parade and pep rally was nuts last night. I pulled the defense with my truck and trailer and couldn’t believe the amount of people there. The community support is unmatched.

  18. You’re correct. That was by far the worst team PNG has had in probably more than 20 years, paired with the best player Vidor has ever had. Everyone but Silsbee and Lumberton had their way with us in 2012. I don’t think it had anything to do with the choice of offense.

  19. How'd they do against Viudor that year? That was with Quiurante Montana right?

  20. It was unfair - Everything depended on what district you came from. You could have a couple 1450 student schools playing 2,000 student schools just because a couple teams with 1449 made the playoffs in their district.

  21. The Fourteenth Amendment which Colorado is referring to is within the jurisdiction of the US Supreme Court at required in Article III Sec. 1 & 2 of the Constitution. Insurrection is under federal law and the US Constitution and states have no such jurisdiction to enforce or interpret federal law. To deny any person the same privilege as anyone else (such as being on a ballot within established laws that apply to everyone) would in fact violate the Fourteenth Amendment in Section 1 where it says that everyone will be given due process and additionally “equal protection under the law “. So it appears that it is Colorado violating the Fourteenth Amendment, not Donald Trump.

  22. This was a gift to Trump. It will be overturned by Supreme Court, plus it is forcing the other GOP candidates to talk about it being wrong and trump deserves to be on the ballot. This is fun to watch

  24. I agree. Silsbee was not sharp, looked lazy. I had someone text me last night that went to the game and he said Silsbee "sleep walked" their way to a 40 point win. I think that was a perfect way of putting it. These next two tournaments will have their full attention.

  25. Two of those years (1999, and 2000) we played the best team in the state and still to this day two of the best defenses I've seen in Texas City (1999) and Bay City 2000 both those teams were big physical fast and well coached...the 2001 team was not near as talented but played with a ton of heart and once again ran into a team that was more physical than us (Smithson Valley) looking back on it now our best shot at state was really the 1998 team but we fell apart in the 2nd half vs. Bay City that year...fact is Larry Neumann changed the mentality of Nederland when he came in 1993 that mentality has now reverted back to the Pre-Neumann era and I don't see things getting better anytime soon with the current system in place

  26. Mostly true. But this years' group of PNG seniors never lost to Ned, from middle school through 12 grade, under both the Faircloth system, and then the Joseph system for the past two seasons. * * 2 or 3 of this seasons' Srs were on the 2021 varsity team that lost to Ned

  30. Coaching is the clear difference. Look at WOS a few years ago vs now. No culture change, just a different coaching staff. PNG under this coaching staff goes to state with at least one of R Johnson teams. Joesph takes over a Faircloth team and goes to state the next season. I’d go as far as saying that this current PNG staff would have took one or two of the 2014, 2015 Nederland teams to state.

  33. I don’t know that SOC makes it back next year. That region is stacked and they will be adding Anna (4A D1 State Champ) who is moving up. I like PNGs odds though. All that said it is very hard to win 5 straight against top talent each week, especially when you go into each game with a bullseye on your back like PNG will next year.
