  1. Want to make a splash, then there is one name and one name only…Faircloth! 😬 Y’all tell me a coach that will bring in a staff and be more motivated to destroy, embarrass and rip the soul from PN-G? 😂😂 someone get him on the phone!! #MakeItHappen

  2. Administration, pay attention: The number one thing we need to remember -- No more "Home Cooking." Now, everyone knows how sensitive I am (Grin), If anyone can show me an ex Nederland person that as a head coach has won at least two State Titles in a classification 3A and up, then we'll talk.

  3. Turf gives you a pretty consistent bounce. Most kids would much rather play on turf.

  4. No increase in injuries, all bounces are true & no weird or bad hops taken to the face. Same with softball, much better surface to play on then dirt pits.

  8. By all means, attend some school board meetings and let your opinions be known. I am not saying that sarcastically either. Same goes for the other folks. Let them know you want updated facilities and with the coaching search happening maybe it will spur a change.

  9. Good job reporting me for the BS spelled out, I shoulda used BS like you did Discussing the facilities a school has which includes baseball & softball fields that would entice a new coach to take the AD\Head Football Coach job at a school district is relevant to the topic, imo. Get off your moderator power trip before you need stress medicine

  10. carthage had 6 losing seasons in the 30 years before Surratt arrived. He came into a school with a considerable amount of consistent talent and with a consistent history of making the playoffs, and his excellent coaching got them over the hump. Coach Buchanan did a great job at Aledo, but in his first 15 years only won one state title (in his sixth year, ironically). He then went 9 more without one, before the area growth brought more talent his way. Consequently, Aledo has won 11 of the last 15 championships despite having 3 different coaches over that time. Did they luck into 3 elite coaches in a decade? I kinda doubt it. Buchanan may have started things off, but they have a major talent edge there. That said, HJ has 3 winning seasons in 20 years, and that was one special group of kids. BC has two winning seasons in the last 10 years, ironically enough with the same coach and QB as a couple of those decent HJ teams. You're still comparing apples to oranges. Surratt could absolutely come to those schools and turn them around and make them winners, but he's not taking them to state or anywhere close to it unless a whole bunch of kids move in with him.

  11. Yes I have been there and it looks great being a grass field! The Coaches are putting in a lot of work getting it ready and it looks great! My point is we can't host Tournaments due to inclement weather due to being dirt and grass! When you see Schools like PNG, Crosby, Barbers Hill, and etc our complexes are way outdated to say the least! Have you seen our hitting cages??????? If its raining our players have to hit in the gym around other sporting activities. Just my 2 Cents!

  15. According to NISD statement to the media yesterday the statewide search process was started. School board prez. played at North Texas football for Todd Dodge so there is that quality connection to help get the applications flowing.

  16. What @KF89 said it indeed the way to go on the diamond. Especially the fact it rains, here. Senior babe Ruth uses it. Nederland could host the senior BR World Series I bet, I know they already have done the southwest tournament, ford park could rent it out for their World Series, and coach Tyner I’m sure could put something together…. Kinda sad the local BR has a turf infield but not the HS atleast…

  17. Baseball and softball facilities are way over due!!!!!!! I have seen 2A and 3A have nicer facilities than what we currently have! If you look at the current 5A Schools in our district they are miles apart from our current facilities!

  20. I guess coming in as a new OC in JUNE and installing a whole new offense for AUGUST leads to the OC being a below average hire. Then lose 4-5 starters. That makes sense.

  21. That coach is not coming out of retirement nor do I think he is the answer at this time… no reason to rush a hire, gotta make it right.

Great work you have done today keeping all in line & reporting people, It was just really good conversation, questions, answers & info between several members in this topic that was all positive. We all apologize to you for any other sports that were brought up along the way & anything else that doesn't meet what you deem ok to discuss. I vote you get the Karen golden tampon😎 award for the week

  30. Many years ago-not sure if it’s the same now. Nederland had football class for Varsity/Jv in the middle of the day. Freshman were 1st period. Football kids stayed in football class all year, except for seniors that were done. They changed their schedules in January and went to PE or whatever spring sport they were playing. Baseball/basketball class was last period. Football workouts were all spring no matter what other sport they were playing. It was always fun when your 1st round MLB draft pick pitcher was also the QB and had to do Camp Fun that same day he’s pitching a big district game……

  31. Well Athletic Director/HFC is open. Athletic Director is in charge of all athletics in regards of NISD. I’m sure a coach wanting the position won’t only look at the football field, but will look also look at baseball/softball/basketball/weight room/ HS in general. Type of athletes/ community backing/ lots of things are in play. You would be surprised at some of the questions/comments applicants have and commitment ISD’s go to secure a certain coach they want. just ask LCM.

  35. I have coached at the Babe Ruth Park the last 4 years & every one loves it. Number of kids playing in Babe Ruth has increased a great deal since the turf was put down also.

  36. Turf is the way to go, plays great, safer, hardly no up keep, will get more revenue with tournament organizers wanting to use your field.

  44. We will take that png coach for sure 2 state titles 1 runner up play calling looked good enough for a state run

  45. Very very true, dat. And the coaches very well know it, including CJ. That's why certain players play. It just so happens that the team this year, and somewhat last year, was good enough to cover for them.

  50. And @Reagan, I get where you are coming from and I agree with you plenty on the effects a great coach can have on a school. Smalley became the all time winningest coach at OF but you seem to think BC was crazy for hiring him. And your definition of “elite” is a bit nuts buddy. And I mean that in the kindest possible way. If you don’t think Kevin Foster at Big Sandy is “elite” because he doesn’t have a state title, you’ve lost your mind. I could take anyone with an above average basketball IQ to watch BS play and they would agree they are about as well coached as is possible in that sport. He’s better than the majority of college coaches I’ve seen.
