    WOS at Silsbee

The last game for both of these two teams was against Jasper. WOS won 100-39 and Silsbee won 108-52. First place in district is on the line in this matchup. Will Silsbee keep their district dominance? Will WOS be able to keep up with Silsbee’s constant pressure? Will Silsbee be 100% back? Will the weather affect this game? Will there be standing room only? Will the concession stand run out of nachos? These questions and more will be answered Friday night in the Tiger Den.

  11. PNG hasn’t lost to Jasper or Silsbee in years. DeSoto, Carthage, and Aledo are a different story. But I’m confident we would have beaten Carthage last year.

  12. Nederland is a better than job than alot of other jobs in that area because it is 5A D2. I am not disrespecting PNG with this statement but you aint running into Desoto, Carthage, Silsbee, Jasper, Aledo in that division.

  18. I don't see Randy Smith leaving Silsbee until his son (8th grader) graduates. I also don't see Waggoner leaving HF this year. They really have a good shot at another deep playoff run with what they have coming back.

  19. I do agree that Kountze has played the much tougher schedule. Those losses to Westwood and Tyler Chapel Hill kind of stick out to me in regards to Orangefield. But, that's why we play the games. I certainly will be there Tuesday night.

  29. Democrat run cities and states are a joke. And those that vote for this are getting what they deserve. I have no sympathy for them, they should wise up and get these idiots out of office. The Democratic Party is a complete disaster.

  30. Post in the correct forum. This is about Orangefield and Peevey didn’t apply.
    1 point
  31. Always, it isn't a legit forum thread about an AD Opening without Peevey being thrown into the discussion.
    1 point
  32. Hearing Peevey is interested in this one also. Zero Playoff wins in the past two seasons after catching "lightning in a bottle" in his first year has the Bear Faithful growing impatient. They gave him a turf field like he requested and zero playoff wins to show for it since. WRONG FORUM, meant for this to be on the NEDERLAND post. Admins, please move. My mistake

  33. If you want to move this response to another thread then thats fine. I just feel the need to elaborate. Coach Buc built Aledo into what it is today. The culture, the system, expectations, ect, is all installed by Coach Buc. You said he won 1 state title in his first 15 years, which was '98 against Cuero. Well, something that was not mentioned is the steady progression of our playoff runs. This thing has been building from the ground up. The Years in red that are underlined prove this point. The other two coaches you mentioned are Coach Steve Wood and Coach Robby Jones (current coach). Coach Wood was in Aledo 11 years, most as the DC before taking over and Coach Jones has been in Aledo 18ish years before taking over. Both Coach Wood & Jones have taught that system for awhile. So they did not try to change things for the sake of it. They have their own styles but they do not let their ego get involved. Thats exactly what we need. People that respect what is working. You also mention a major talent edge. Against most teams, I would agree, against certain playoff team, maybe, against other state finalist, not really. Aledo grew up beating teams more talented than them. All those years where we got knocked out in the 3rd-5th rounds, show we didnt have a talent edge. Not a lot of kids going to play on Saturday. I'd say La Marque, Temple, Manvel, Brenham in '09, were all teams that had more talent than us on the field in the state games. Maybe even Fort Bend Marshall too in '18 & '19. But our coaching has been outstanding and we have won a lot of games that on paper we should lose. State Champions: '98 '09 '10 '11 '13 '14 '16 '18 '19 '20 '22 '23 State Finalist: '74 '17 State Semifinalist: '72 '97 '04 '06 '07 '15 State Quarterfinalist: '96 '99 '02 '03 '05 Regional Finalist: '67 '68 '70 '77 '00 '01 '21 Area Finalist: '08 '12 Bi-District Finalist: '62 '71 '73 '76 '81 '87 '88

  34. Just hang a clipboard and whistle on one of those stupid telephone poles between the stands and the field and let them boys play.

  35. Just in the case for Buna, do you think they are really looking for a guy that can bring them to the dance, or probably just looking for a decent coach that won't destroy the program that's good with kids? I'm guessing the latter.

  36. EC has a couple talented Freshman guards. They won’t struggle for long. But as we saw with Kountze last year, young teams struggled against heavy upperclass teams that have a lot of experience.
