Coach Dodge was the only one who advised the hiring committee appointed by the school board that reviewed resumes and conducted interviews, the latter being comprised of various members of the PN-GISD administration. Several of those administrators are PN-G alumni, one of whom played on the ‘75 state championship team. A dedicated PN-G alum from out of town (not me, to be clear) arranged first contact between the PN-GISD superintendent and Coach Dodge after Coach Faircloth’s departure, eventually resulting in the consulting contract. There’s no question Dodge’s involvement brought many qualified applicants to the table, and Dodge’s recommendation was key in the selection of Coach Joseph. It was a team effort, and everyone involved in the hiring process, whether formally or informally, deserves commendation for their contribution.1 point -

Does Nederland not emphasize this? You’ve already called out English, but don’t mention other sports getting kids to sign contracts that they won’t miss practice for other sports. It’s seems like you would get better talent working together, instead of making kids sign a contract that they won’t miss track practice for a baseball game.1 point -

A better coach would've found a way to win one of those games and improved on his record from year 1. PNG shouldn't have had the chance to tie it with a last sec FG. All season long... wasted timeouts, failure to call a play, over thinking going for 1 or 2. When u have a 17 pt lead in the 4th, run the ball and the clock goes with it. Or u could allow a team 2nd chances to come back and win on the final drive. I've hoped that he could learn from mistakes. But I've seen no reason to believe it will happen. No coaching jobs are currently posted on the district website. Although, I'm wondering if Math teachers normally receive $3000-7000 stipend ???1 point -

Rodney should send him 10 percent of his paycheck right after tithing. A lot easier to Coach when you are handed a final four-caliber team someone else put together. UT didn’t have much choice giving him a deal but they gave him more money and more years than I thought was necessary. Still not a ridiculous deal and certainly can afford to buy him out after next season (which may be likely if he doesn’t figure it out). When you have someone who has coached for many years, their record will tell you who they are. Then again, I’ve seen some colleges hire guys who have barely ever had a winning season. Rodney is a nice guy but may be over his head.1 point -

They better figure out how to run the ball and conversely, stop the run on D…they haven’t been able to stop the run for years and you simply cannot compete for championships getting the ball crammed down your throat all game long and having the other team impose their physical will against you…this happens to Dallas routinely it’s a microcosm of their overall soft natured culture, if you ask me…all flair and no substance…tons of talent, no real toughness to win and close big games and beat good teams…that starts at the top with what ownership creates and it will never change unless Jerrah makes a significant change in how he runs and builds the team…he got lucky with Jimmy Johnson (he didn’t really know what he was doing and hired a college buddy who happened to be great) and he hired Parcells when he was desperate to get a new stadium and couldn’t get the support coming off of 3 successive 5-11 seasons…these are the only times he has allowed anyone else to have control of “football” and each time, he eventually couldn’t stand it and screwed it up. Jerry knows how to make money and build a brand, but he doesn’t know squat about how to build a winning football culture…worse yet, he thinks that he does and wont give up on the notion that he does…if you can’t tell, I am a Cowboy fan, but way past fed up with the Jones’…I don’t even get that upset when they choke anymore as it has become my expectation…I would be surprised if they actually won anything in the postseason1 point -
