  3. This will be our official realignment thread. Post all the realignment talk here. At 9am the UIL will release the classifications, divisions and districts. Post all this info here. Here is the UIL Realignment link: [Hidden Content] After the districts are revealed, we will post what districts we will be covering here on the site for the next two years.

  4. Very very few. Usually it's just one school that appeals their district alignment. In this case, the whole district should appeal it's regional alignment.

  5. I wonder if the schools in the district will appeal. They do have a window to appeal to UIL. I agree, this seems egregious.

  24. District 11 (currently region 3) should be in either region 1 or region 4 (if in region 4, move district 14 to region 1). And why would Liberty Hill be in district 11 (9 teams) instead of district 10 (six teams, and makes roughly as much geographic sense)? District 4 (currently region 1) should be in region 2. District 8 (png & Ned, currently region 2) should be in region 3. The right solution was under their noses. How do we go from a Houston area school to a Dallas area school? There are two entire districts closer to Dallas that could be in those northern regions. How does Liberty Hill moving into our region bump us to the entire other side of the bracket? Regardless, PNG will be a good team and this alignment makes for some interesting matchups, both in district and in the playoffs.

    Realignment

Well, today I guess we get to find out who we're going 2-8 against next season? Have new QB transferring in which fits more along the lines of what Willis wants to run but as far as talent retention the wheels continue to come off. The Austin Walter-like stud freshman running back transferred out a few weeks ago and we may be losing the Craig Williams clone out of the same class. Going to be a depressing journey until we can get a coach who can pump some life back into the program.

Almost every team will have week 1, 2 and 3 non-district games. They all try to fill a schedule. If you wait till after the new alignment you will be stuck with no games or driving a long ways.

  43. Not to be a negative Nancy, but having some good groups come through in JH usually doesn't translate to HS success. Back when I was in JH school, we destroyed everyone, went undefeated and were "district champs". Senior year in HS we went 5-5 and our coach got canned at the end of the year. 🤷‍♂️

  45. True statements, but Nederland aren't really missing any kids that can truly help, maybe two or three that won't make a huge difference in outcomes of the game. There may be some Dads in here who kids aren't playing that feel a type of way, but the talent pool just isn't there. They're some Basketball players that could help right away, but they only play Basketball, which I hear is encouraged by the Head BB Coach! The AD will have to change that and emphasize to ALL coaches that he wants his athletic program having multi-sport athletes as a requirement. Something Barrow didn't really harp on. I do believe a 180 degree change in culture, and getting out of the prehistoric ways of athletics is concerned can/will change things. But it will take about 4-5 years or maybe longer for a long run in the playoffs.

  46. Right - this is something I think needs to be underlined. Joseph inherited a healthy program with kids who had won several key games and had had a deep-ish playoff run. He didn’t have to “rebuild” so much as “redirect.” It sounds like Nederland will need to do something closer to a true rebuild. That’s going to be key in how people evaluate the new guy. If the standard is “do exactly what png did and go straight to state,” that’s probably not going to work, because Faircloth left PNG in a state that is ahead of schedule relative to where Nederland is. But, I don’t think we’re talking a several year rebuild. I think Nederland just needs to get kids back , get more kids in, hit the weight room better and structure themselves to go toe-to-toe with the power and conditioning of elite programs. They aren’t far off - If Nederland had 1% improvements across every category of improvement, they become an entirely different team. A lot of Nedeand’s woes amount to just being left behind, not so much getting worse . The last two years, Barrow would probably have gone at least 1-1 against PNG if Faircloth had stayed the coach, because Faircloth built his teams the way Barrow does - Poor conditioning, low strength training, no attention to defense, and just hope you win by two points in a shootout. Joseph doesn’t do that, and he showed that there‘a a recipe for the mid county schools to compete at the highest level. Nederland can do it too, but given the current state of the program it might take a year or two to really see the results. But it could also be immediate, as we’ve seen.

  47. Whoever takes the Nederland will be setting their own ways and culture that’s what happens when a Head Coach takes over… PNG in 2008 2-7 Faircloth comes in set his culture rebuild in year 1 in 2009 11-1… Peevey at LCM year before he got there 1-7 when Peevey arrived 11-3… there’s a lot of talent walking them halls and lot of kids specializing in only 1 sport, gotta get those kids back into the program and play multiple sports. Coaching staff got very stale and ran its course. Gotta stop the family and friends and hiring and start the hiring best qualified coach which I’m hoping NISD has learned its lesson on that one…. Starts at the top and they are making a change a step imo in the right direction.
