Guys, girls, we can't thank you enough for all of the positivity on this thread! I promise you I show him everything that is said, some for encouragement, and then some of the other threads to fuel his fire, lol! Just please know that over the years folks haven't always been too kind because its easier to spread negativity and dog someone else rather than actually go and outwork them. We have learned to really embrace those that show support, because those kinds of genuine folks are very rare in today's World! We sincerely thank you! May God bless you all!3 points -

I’ve only been following 25 years and change. But assuming the good Lord keeps him healthy, I can’t imagine he won’t end up being the best to lace em up during my time here. Remarkable he’s only a sophomore.3 points -
Every single article pushed by the leftist media right now is all about how republicans demanded a border bill, the senate negotiated a bipartisan bill, and then the house shot down the bill they demanded. This take is so blatantly disingenuous that it gets my blood pressure up, and you all know I'm far from the most conservative guy around, and also not nearly as conservative as many of you when it comes to immigration. very few senate republicans supported that crap, so quit calling it a "bipartisan bill just because one republican was involved in negotiating it. But more importantly, quit acting like any of the following parts of the bill truly benefit border security: 1. out of a $118.3B bill, only $20B would be used on border security. 2. the new bill would negate border states' ability to challenge issues with border laws in their home states, instead having to do so in ultraliberal Washington DC in front of ultraliberal judges. A better way of putting this is the bill would mean that border states could never challenge any aspects of the bill, because they would be guaranteed to lose. 3. based on the number of illegal crossings required to trigger actual border security through the bill, up to 1.6M illegals would be allowed in unchallenged yearly. I mean, yeah, can't believe those crazy conservatives turned all this down, right?2 points

You think you are better than you actually are, SP. You often unfairly run down a lot of these local coaches, as a former coach yourself, you would think you would have more respect for the profession than that.2 points

Trump will never win all 50 states. Ever. The evil, mentally ill people in places like NY, NJ, CA, IL, would literally vote for Osama Bin Laden, Saddam Hussain, or Kim Jong Un over Trump. Their derangement and hate for Trump is unlimited.2 points -

We really appreciate you saying that sir. He has worked real hard and is on pace so that is a real possibility. Honestly, he tells me, "Daddy, I want to put banners on the wall and win! The points are just a bonus." I'm super proud that his goal is to win and just let the personal accolades come naturally. When you hit goals while doing things the right way, they seem to mean that much more. Thank you all again for the kind words!2 points -

Dayton Hires Jerry Prieto as HC
NHSBulldogFan reacted to Red Boyou for a topic
Not to mention the last 3 hires were buddies/ insiders, I think that has reduced the number and quality of applicants(along with the ridiculousness of having separate AD/HC roles for a school the size of Dayton). I would imagine a lot of potential applicants are figuring that’s what’s going to happen again. IMO1 point -

Tom Track 1

[email protected] Tom Halliburton’s Track Volume 37, Number 1 _____ Feb. 7, 2024 Seems as if it’s been a long winter by Southeast Texas standards. So it may be awhile before our area high school track and field performers can return anywhere close to top form. Yet here’s the beauty of sports we’ve discovered through 56 years of sports writing – you never know. Not many brilliant minds expected a 5A state football champ two months ago from those purple Indians. Hats off to Jeff Joseph and his folks for doing just that. Why do I mention this football stuff in our first 2024 track report? Because when we report in three months at the state meets, our 409 needs some state champions for the schools to honor. On the subject of the state meet, the schedule places the trip to Austin about 10 days earlier in the calendar year than last year. Of course that also means earlier dates for the district, area and regional meets during April. And, you guessed it. The earlier post-season schedule has required a number of regular-season meets to either be canceled or moved much earlier in this year’s schedule. A small handful of schools, including Nederland, are scheduled to visit Huffman Hargrave high school for a meet this week. Most area teams will wait a week or two. No doubt a large field can be expected next week at Nederland for the Bulldog Relays. That should be a showcase for many of the season’s strongest performers. Quite a few will have to trade in their basketball legs for track and field legs as February and March progress. Who are the premier stars? It’s too early to tell but Morgan Campbell certainly has established herself as a superb distance runner. She was a 5A girls state top 20 finisher in last fall’s UIL cross country championships at Round Rock. We’re also hoping for a great senior year from Beaumont Kelly’s Paris Coleman. Then there’s Vidor senior Raegan Stephenson, who snagged the gold medal in Austin at the 5A girls high jump with a leap of 5-7. If Raegan is properly motivated, she is likely to clear a higher mark now. More than 30 schools have provided us with their season track schedules and we thank them for getting more of those on their school websites this time. Much of my area weekly leaders will depend on e-mails from area coaches and officials. Please send them to [email protected]. My wife Donna is in her fourth year of having kidney dialysis at the Davita Port Arthur location. That greatly limits my active participation. You know I will attend meets and report for the Beaumont Enterprise when I can. Feel free to post and/or publish any track info as I send it to you. I’m just trying to recognize our area’s athletes. I don’t need any personal glory at all. Thanks for all your help and God bless.
