  1. Goes down in flames? Considering it was a runoff election already that was feverishly close 'til the end with only a difference of 366 votes out of 25,260, I don't know if that is a fair description.

  5. Return is set for July 1. SLC numbers continue to jump. Could see a few more school join as well. The loss of Grand Canyon starting in 2025 may bring the WAC to an end. [Hidden Content]

  6. The greatest point on all of this, and exactly what makes it a great day in SE Texas is the commercials are over!!!! Phelan wasn’t all bad, Covey wasn’t all bad, but by the end of it I would have voted for Brewster’s “None of the above!” Politicians serve their own interests and everyone’s politician is bad (except for theirs of course). I personally am for: 1) Higher fuel prices, 2) More taxes and restrictions on private property owners, 3) Cancelling student-loan and even credit card debt, 4) Covid restrictions (bring back masks) 5) Giving more tax money away to countries at war (except Israel), 6) Tearing apart the nuclear family 7) Supporting college kids to protest anything and everything they want with no consequences, 😎 Higher and higher food prices 😎 Go Biden/Harris - just MASA (Make America Soft Again), Beto for a high-cabinet spot.

  9. A few Board of Regents agree for sure. Some administrative changes were based in large part on those moves. Sam Houston is the only one this remotely did any service and of course they moved on as well.

  10. WooHoo, the RANGERS win today 6-1 and win the series with arizona. 1st series win in the last 6. Maybe things are starting to change!!!

  11. Bingo! I didn’t like the move, if Lamar would have stayed from the get go they could have benefited like McNeese did and be able to host confrence tournaments in Beaumont possibly… but I did hear LU is playing a big factor in bringing these schools back… which hope SLC rewards them in some way.

  14. But from an aspect of facing D1 QB prospects … yeah gonna see where your defense is real quick. Hitchcock last year wasn’t too strong in the trenches so I’m curious how their defense will matchup vs us

  15. At least Columbus is only about 30 min up the road… that Hitchcock trip will be brutal with traffic lol

  19. From the article: "In a rare move, all three liberal Supreme Court justices recused themselves on May 28 from a case involving a lawsuit filed against them for rejecting a previous lawsuit that sought to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. In the case, the Supreme Court turned away a longshot bid by Raland J. Brunson of Ogden, Utah, who has gained notoriety among Trump supporters for his legal activism. The case at hand is known as Brunson v. Sotomayor. The petitioner sued Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, and Ketanji Brown Jackson in their official capacities for voting on Feb. 21, 2023, to deny the petition for certiorari, or review, in his previous lawsuit, Brunson v. Adams." [Hidden Content]

It's a great day in SETX!

Funny how “MAGA” is considered a bad thing…. The MAGA crowd….etc…. Whoever doesn’t want to make America Great should leave.

  21. That's an interesting take, but considering that an incumbent enjoys a HUGE advantage historically, I think Covey came pretty close to an upset. I don't care one way or the other - the biggest reason being that I live in Hardin County. But I have to think the Trump endorsement got Covey that close in the first place. His only recognition was on a very local level, virtually unheard of before the Trump endorsement. Otherwise, he probably would've lost by thousands of votes instead of a few hundred. Just my observation.

  23. I agree. But people tend to waver especially admin if there is pressure from school board….and not all school boards are equal and and not all members are equal. Some members like to use their powers in the wrong way. It happens a lot in small schools and it’s usually about sports.

  24. 3 counties voted in this particular election. Jasper, Orange and Jefferson. Covey won Jasper and Orange counties pretty handily. Phelan won Jefferson county by 2800 votes. Should Jasper and Orange county secede? lol

  42. Anyone can Google that so don’t try to come off like some expert. So you think all that showed up for Trump were black? How selfish. I have no clue how many would show, neither do you. I can, however, look at the size crowd Biden drew in his home town and make an educated guess as to crowd size in NY. It’s really simple. You don’t need a college education to do it, either.

  43. To clarify, Dems love wars. They rage daily in the bluest of blue inner citicis. Chicago had 39 shootings over the weekend, 9 dead. Warzone. Baltimore, Memphis, Detroit, etc. I am sure was just as bloody. The blue body count rises daily. I am sure the blue defunding of police and releasing murders without any bail have nothing to do with it. Right?
