    As the Tide Turns

Read ‘em and weep. And it’s only just begun. I have yet to hear Trump make any remarks that will attract any new voters. He can’t stop preaching to his choir [Hidden Content]

  4. I seriously doubt anyone here besides you, me, Cardinal Backer and Boyz in da Hood even watched the incredibly crass and ignorant performance he gave. He didn’t answer one question and talked close to 30 minutes.

  5. Well, I do a fantastic job of making you respond to anything I post in the most unimaginative, boring way possible. "Dance, puppet! Dance!"

  6. They won't comment..... other than to say it never happened, It's obviously AI, Trump just likes to use hyperbole and exaggeration, it's just lockerroom talk, or who's afraid of some mean tweets... But never once will they ask why, in 2024, is a presidential candidate of a major party is making his opponent's race the main point of his attack? Right when I think Trump can't do any worse, he does. You might fire up the racists, but the majority of decent, moral voters will disassociate themselves from you and your party. I can't blame him, though... he can't run on his own record, lol.

    2024 Astros

The Astros are currently 5th in the league in runs scored. They have been top 8 all season in that dept. (reached as high as 4th a couple of weeks ago). Early in the season, Houston was 13th out of 15 teams in runs allowed in the American League. Now they sit 6th. Again, it's not the offense (been avg. over 4.5 runs a game all season). Yes, maybe they have not been so clutch late in games with runners in scoring position but the fact is they have been top 5 in scoring the last 2 1/2 months. The pitching is what has improved and what has got them in first place in the division.

  8. I think his plan is to keep doing what everyone else tells him to stop doing. No one thought he would survive Jan 6th. His political career was over. Then no one thought he could survive the lawsuit's.....Then no one thought he could survive the criminal trials.....Then , not only did he get his case dismissed, he had a Judge rule Smith was illegally appointed as SC...then he almost was assassinated.......the entire time he just kept getting more and more support..... Then he makes Biden have to drop out.......then the media plays Kamala like the next Obama......we all know that is not true. We have Democrats happy that the nominee can ride a bike and climb stairs without falling and read a teleprompter without screwing up........Trump has not lost any votes, Democrats have just got loud.......it won't stay this way

  9. I waited a year and prices dropped a little but not a lot. In the meantime the value of my old house increased, so it offset material price increases on the new one. I really don’t see any potential changes on the horizons in regard to prices or interest rates. This might be as good of a time as any. Also… late spring starts are good. You fight the heat, but the weather is usually drier and days are longer. We poured the slab on 5/31 and finished up right at 12/31-seven long months. have a good schedule, try to stick to it, and just keep grinding. It’s worth it. Don’t waste too much time making decisions. Scheduling 4 tile guys to come out and do estimates will kill two weeks. It’s not worth losing time over money. The hardest part for me was switching gears when it was over. You blow through a TON of money like it’s not real. Then one day you have to start spending like you used to… like you’re broke. A $1200 trip to Lowe’s isn’t a big deal when you’re spending 175k total. When it all goes back to normal, you can’t just go drop thousands because you want to. It’s an adjustment.

Careful......unlike Trump not being afraid to address black journalist, Kamala has yet to take direct questions from eager reporters....... I know you're more interested in beating Trump versus getting a good President. If you are honest with yourself, she was a horrible VP with no legacy other than watching the border get invaded.

  11. Coaches son will probably get the qb spot…that’s usually how it goes. I think some parents transfer their kids if the kid is good enough to start but getting screwed over. Happened to my buddy son at Desoto. He was a starter all offseason until a transfer came in a few weeks before the season…his son did not touch the field. His son also had the stats and film to prove he is a good receiver.

You don't lead the league (2nd in all of MLB) in team batting average by being erratic. The bats have been solid all year. The reason for the turn around is the pitching. Gone from a team ERA of over 5 (5.15) to under 4 (3.97) Had a league worse blown save opportunities to now middle of the pack.

Of course the race baiters take the name in that vein. Joebama is to show they are one and the same. Obama is the puppeteer.

  18. That’s kind of my point. I know a young person that searches for over a year and bought their first house where you’re talking about… WWV. Four years old, $185/ft. Granite, ceramics, landscaped, etc. Exceptionally nice for a first home. Definitely not a 60 year old 2/1/1 fixer-upper on pier and beam like I bought to start out in 20 years ago. And comparable homes to my first are still out there, but my kids are too proud to live in them… but they want to complain that prices on what they want are too high, lol.

Yep I agree. Astros have been notorious for trading away good up and coming players for junk used up players. IMO I don't think Verlander wants to play anymore, I think he is going to ride out his contract and retire. Alos I thought that was what the farm system was for. To bring up kids that are showing great promise. Any way we salvage game 3 on a 4 hit 5-4 win. Pitt had 9 hits. Mariners and Rangers both lose.

  22. Bears will always be good. I know the WOS 8th graders (incoming freshman) lost by a point or two in spring league championship against them. We have 4 freshman that will participate on varsity to start the season. I think one senior and maybe one or two juniors. The 8th grade team had a winning record last season. Three of the four played club volleyball. It may take a season or two but they are coming. They will surprise some teams this year.

I agree with a lot of that. My last child graduates from college next spring, and it will just be my wife and me. Our house isn't huge (3,500 sq. ft.), but it's definitely larger than the 2 of us need. Don't need the pool either. Or the 2,000 sq. ft. shop either (blasphemy, I know). Or the 1,600 ft. lean to for mowers, toys, boats, atv's, utv's either. Or 7 acres either. Not if I plan on retiring in the next 10 years or so... So we sat down to figure out a plan on building/buying a new home, and we could only get it down to 2,500 sq. ft., no pool, 1,200 sq. ft. shop, smaller lean to proportionate to the shop, get rid of 1 boat, 1 ATV, 1 UTV, (that'll leave me with one of each) on 3 acres. I stepped back and realized we have lost our effing minds... I grew up in mobile homes or an old wood frame house under 1200 sq. ft. for most of my young life - and we were fine... And there were 6 people. Crazy man, crazy.

  24. I'm not sure about the tax stuff but I do know Real Estate market is in a pickle and it does not take someone "in the know" to figure it out. I sold my house in Lumberton and moved to Port Arthur to my childhood home right before interest rates went up. The intent was to build on property purchased in Silsbee. It is still the intent, but with mortgage rates what they are, I have time on my side to wait until rates drop. That is what people are doing who want to sell. They don't want to leave their 3-4% rate to get 6% or higher. That means inventory on pre-owned houses is low. That should mean prices would go up......but there is no demand due to mortgage rates. One last thing about Jefferson county(my home town), it is expensive to live here versus Hardin county. The insurance rates are crazy. My home insurance over doubled moving to Jefferson county with a smaller home with a lot less. Car insurance went up too. I can literally save $2500 a year just living in Hardin County......

  27. Hey guys, it’s been a few weeks since I’ve checked Southeast Texas football. I’ve been working my ass off here at this natural gas plant south of New Orleans, seriously haven’t had a real day off in six weeks. Working 13 – ones and on the ones I’ve had to drive back to my hometown Marlin pick up crap and then drive back. That’s a round-trip about 18 hours. so I’m just trying to catch up on my breathing in my sleep. But man Football‘s around the corner. Up here the LSU talk is hot and heavy and on the local Espn station they have some High School talk from here Louisiana but yes, I did get my Texas Football. And I go to breakfast after work from 330 to about 730 to a lot of the local eateries here in Chase Bell, St Bernard, Port Sulphur and I always have my Texas Football magazine. And all these football guys Are very impressed about size, come on guys we like that size even though usually we lie 🤔😆 . Anyway, can’t get any more ready for football. Over 40% of the people getting on my bus or from htown and former football players and we talk football on the bus trip along with the little Astros. Got some Louisiana guys too big on LSU and actually got a lot of Tulane people here. The parents of the Holy Cross high school receiver that’s gonna go to H with the former Tulane coach. Look out you, UH maybe pretty awesome in a couple years. I’m going to start a blog in a few weeks on the app called Substack called.” Fire the Coach”. Please read along and tell me what you think. 29. 1. Band maybe. Band parents, not so much. 2. I think I'm gonna cry... One of my favorite memories playing high school football was hearing the band marching from the band hall to the field to a cadence by the drum corps during pre-game. It gave me goosebumps. I think the band plays a definite role as a part of the Friday night experience. However, "the parents who care very much" (🤮) can watch them at halftime and at band competitions. Maybe they can stay for the whole game too.

This might not have happened if Hickman would have been more cordial; refused to sign off on students and refusing to swap home games shot himself in the foot. He should have put some effort into a local relationship.
