Love my Bears and hoping for the best season. But it's not secret Peevey has been gifted with talent. Walked into the best LCM team since 07 or 94. I think Dubois and Smalley are definitely better coaches. Toss up for the rest. And most are new to their district.

Dayton’s offense looked mediocre to pretty decent at times which I think is to be expected with a completely new system. Also have to remember the new personnel positions along with the QB being relatively new at the varsity level, he only made three starts last year as a freshman but at least one was a playoff game. Dayton has a lot better personnel than Lee and Crosby struggled to shut them down. Coach Poth is a great DC but but unless Daygon plays several kids both ways(which Crosby did when Prieto was there) the Broncos might be challenged on that side of the ball all year? Crosby hasn’t consistently shown the ability exploit team’s defense deficiencies under the new staff so Dayton will still probably be ok there. I think Dayton is going to play fast and loose while Crosby plays slow and tight. Maybe special teams decided it like some of the old classics?

PNG really needs to lose this opener if they want another chance at State again. 😁 Only if you believe in superstition. LOL

May have stole the show punting but I didn’t see him get a single rep at QB. I agree the controversy should be over though, Robinson should be the starter. If you’re a senior and it’s your second year in a system but you’re getting pushed by a sophomore who’s only been in the system for weeks then you need to go to the bench and let the more talented player develop. That being said I’m sure we’ll keep swapping the QB’s in and out and stall the offense even further. Those type of personnel decisions are part of the reason why Crosby isn’t any good anymore. We have the same issue at RB and WR too. Josh Jackson is the best RB on the team and probably the best pure runner we’ve had since since Craig Williams but Willis has him in the slot instead of the B-back position which would allow him to be our primary ball carrier. He loves the back who has averaged 4ypc over his career because he has major offers and will continue to feed him to the detriment of running an efficient offense.

This is exactly right. If Prieto is still in Crosby, this is a lock playoff team with potential to go 3-4 rounds deep. With Prieto gone, this team will battle just to lock in the 4 spot.

I hear ya and share your sentiments on getting work in and being injury free. However I don’t think the team nor coaches see this as glorified scrimmages 😂. Scrimmages are gone and now it’s time to get busy to see where your season will be. In the realm of things these games don’t decide playoff seeding, but you are playing to win and not just compete.

La Porte is still homeless at least for the first part of the season, so Border Battle will be played at Abshier Stadium in Deer Park again this year. DP took care of business last year, but I'm not familiar with what either team are bringing back from last year's squads. Betting money would be on DP to win again this year, any thoughts to persuade me otherwise? (Also, gearing up for the Week 3 matchup between Deer Park and Barbers Hill.....)

Was at the Dayton GCM scrimmage. (My son is the NG for GCM.) Dayton had one big play over the top and then struggled on offense the rest of the night. I don’t think they got another 1st down. Daytons defense looks like they are in mid season form but they were playing GCM so take what you will from that. Crosby should beat Dayton soundly talent for talent. However I don’t trust this HC at all. If this game is close or if CHS loses. Willis needs to walk away.

The 2nd round match up for coming in 3rd would most likely be Bellville.

lol. #3 Garza Adams is a Jr returning wide receiver. (he might have started a game during season when there was an injury...maybe) to my point I was making earlier when you go from 100% returning one season on the stronger unit on a team to having only 18% (I will go with the 2) of that the next season it most likely gonna come with tough times, especially opening the season against a state title game appearance team.

He has a power 5 RB, one of the best inside LB’s in the area committed to UTEP, a left tackle committed to Air Force, a QB who will potentially D1 football and several other kids who will play at the college level. Not to mention the best prospect on the entire team being a stud sophomore. Talent wasn’t the issue last year and it’s not the issue this year. This issue is the questionable personnel decisions which get compounded by the questionable play-calling philosophy, mainly offensively.

Shepherd got more than the QB and RB. Sophomore DL/TE will be a multi-star D1 recruit.

Aside from being involved in some long standing rivalry, I look at pre-district games as glorified scrimmages that are there to get work and refinement in. Yes I know some others do care who wins though and thats fine. If we get good work in, avoid any major injuries, and play as a team I am happy. I am surprised this game is not included in the pick ems. It includes the likes of Fairfield @ Maypearl, Joaquin vs Frankston, and Chester @ Penelope, but BH does not belong, LOL.

Legislative Council voted to approve the proposal. Starting this coming school year, will be 2 state champions in each classification for boys and girls basketball, volleyball, baseball and softball. Will be no more regional basketball tournaments and no semifinals played at state basketball, baseball, softball and volleyball tournaments. Only state championship games played at state tourney. Personally, I don't like this at all. Really don't like doing the split after district play. Could have at least waited till next realignment so they could have divisional districts. This also shortens the playoffs by 1 game until next realignment.

Silsbee probably won’t have to see Dallas Kimball if that happens.
