Y’all need to stop ragging on Weak Brook and instead send them all the positive energy that you can so that they can become Strong Brook and beat New Baytown on Nov 8. BTW, for those who don’t know, nothing irritates a Mont Belvieu/Barber’s Hill resident more than calling their town “New Baytown” and their High School “New Baytown High”. I’ve already got an Old Man in my inbox on here mad because I slandered his precious team. Just thought I’d mention it since we’re discussing school nicknames and stuff like that.2 points -

Sabine Pass at West Hardin: Playoff spot on the line
RETIREDFAN1 reacted to AggiesAreWe for a topic
Even though there will be 2-3 more games after this week for these two teams, a playoff spot and seeding rides heavily on the outcome of this one. Current standings have Deweyville and Sabine Pass at 3-0. Evadale, West Hardin and West Sabine are all 1-1. A Sabine Pass win Friday night will clinch a playoff spot for the Sharks. They would finish no worse than the 3rd seed. A West Hardin win gives them the inside shot for a playoff spot. A win by 8 points or more could land them a #3 seed. Sabine Pass has two games remaining (home vs. Deweyville and at West Sabine). West Hardin has 3 games remaining after Friday (at Deweyville, home vs. West Sabine, at Colmesneil) Big game for both of these teams this Friday, I will be there for sure.1 point -

Another discussion for another time, but college for most kids (not all, but a great many) is a waste of time, money & resources... That being said, trade schools, vocational schools & technical schools are of greater value. Just my opinion. That being said, I don't think the non-football school in Beaumont is a bad thing at all.1 point -

I damn sure will work that into my lexicon. Besides, we use to beat Cove of the regular when they were 3A. I like to think they aspire to be South Lake or Westlake but in reality, they are a newer version of Deer Park w/o a Correy Pulig. I don't remember any D1 player from #newbaytown that made a name for themselves in the NCAA. I'm sure the NB folk will pull up a name so I don't wanna be too disrespectful1 point -

BH vs Beaumont United
Alpha Wolf reacted to Separation Scientist for a topic
This year went badly off track for BH on the opening drive of the 1st game. RB1 gone for the season, then later in that same game WR1 went down. (HATERS REJOICE!!!). Then it got worse from there. More injuries on offense, all the skill guys. Took all the speed off the field. So what can BH do at this point? BH can go out with whoever is left standing and play as hard as they can for the remainder of the season. That might get them 4th place. It is insane how injury prone BH has been the past two years. Lost most of our defense last year, and now our offense this year. I am the eternal optimist though. Maybe next year we have minimal injuries, and we do have a favorable schedule set up. Thats next year though. BH needs to dig in, man up and play as hard as they can with what they got as long as they can. If the team does that, thats all anyone can ask.1 point -

Austin1985 reacted to Goslin for a topic
Here’s the backstory. BH is adjacent to Baytown. For many years was Baytown’s Country Cousin. Folks in BH loved to brag about how great Country living was compared to the Big City but always had a chip on their shoulder about being the smaller, Country, community next to Big Bad Baytown. As Baytown’s School District, GCCISD, has allowed Baytown schools to get worse and worse year over year, more and more Baytonians have moved to Barber’s Hill or used addresses of relatives to send their kids to Barber’s Hill or take jobs with BHISD so their kids can go there. There is a MASSIVE new residential/commercial project going on right now called Riceland. It’s on-par with Kingwood/Woodlands in size and scope and is right smack dab in the middle of Mont Belvieu/Barber’s Hill. Tons of folks are flocking into that and buying $500k+ homes because they want the illusion of Country living and they like Barber’s Hill’s strict School District that’ll spend millions fighting a kid all the way to the State Supreme Court over a haircut. Barber’s Hill enrollment is only 100 or so from the 6A cutoff, they’re growing at a HUGE rate and a lot of it mid-to-high end stuff that is totally alien to the folks who have lived there for generations. Because the tables are turned, BH residents LOVE to thumb their noses at poor ol’ Baytown but when you remind old-timers that Baytown is basically on their border now plus half their residents are folks who moved from Baytown and brought their Baytown ways with them, plus the fact that they’re no longer really Country and just wearing a costume they get REALLY PO’d about it. Hence why “New Baytown” and “New Baytown High” gets them all worked up. Try it, see what happens.1 point -

Yes 22 is a stud, he is patient and waits for his blocks, after he does he’s gone. Something #7 is horrible at. He outruns his blockers then tries to run east and west which is a no go. Fuller was all distinct running back last year why they aren’t using him more in the backfield blows my mind. They are trying to save him because he serves a huge role at linebacker but he can play both ways. IMO they would of comfortably beat Vidor if 22 was running the ball.1 point

BH has those UIL connections… they won’t be in that district. They avoided coming to the golden triangle for years, until forced. Schools had to drive and pass up BH on the highway to go play a couple district game down the road….1 point -
They lost one of those 3 out of district games too, to Deer Park in double overtime. See, it’s not just about BH moving up to 6A, it’s about what 6A District they’re going to go into. GCCISD is redrawing attendance zones this Summer to get GCM back down to 5A when UIL redraws Districts in 2026. That means UIL will have to fill that empty spot and BH is only 15 minutes from GCM so they’d be the obvious choice. Oh yeah, did I mention that the 6A District I’m talking about is District 23? The toughest District in the state? #3 North Shore, #5 Atascocita, #20 Summer Creek, #60 CE King, #150 Kingwood, #160 Humble all in that District. #734 Channelview is the only easy win in that District after GCM drops down. If GCM ends up dropping down and BH goes up it means no more playoffs for BH, they’d be permanent 5th-6th place if that happens UNLESS they find a way to REALLY toughen up. Better to do it now before they make the jump.1 point

Crosby (34) @ Kingwood Park (14) - FINAL
MrFleet23 reacted to Cougar14.2 for a topic
It looks like that because we played better overall. He’s been moving some players around the last couple of weeks and actually trying to get some of his athletes the ball which is a lot more “offensive coordinating” than he’s been doing during his time in Crosby. We’ll take the progress where we can get it though. We’re 3-0 in district play because we have better football players than three teams we’ve played. Again, you take the progress from the beginning of the year where we were losing to a team like Dayton who has half the talent we do. The issue is being consistently blown out by teams with equal or slightly better talent. Crosby is benefitting record-wise from a weak district but it’s helping us learn to win again. Thursday was the most swagger I’ve seen a Crosby team play with since Willis has been our coach. Wins are wins but if you’re objectively looking at what Crosby is considering progress after a year and a half under Willis it’s a game where we play two good quarters and then get shut out until late in the fourth quarter against a team with not near the personnel of La Porte or Angleton. Crosby could be a lot better than we are but I will admit this is the best we’ve looked under Willis. I guess it’s just going to take the kids overplaying his system and play-calling to achieve the results the last two coaches did?1 point -

I lived there from 2000 - 2015, and didn't really have a dog in the fight, so I didn't follow the football too closely, but I recall that BH moved up rather quickly from 3A I think, to 4A, to 5A. The head coach and other coaches and trainer, had been there a while, and always seemed just a game away from going to state. Then the HC got fired, more or less, others moved on, retired, or passed away (I knew one coach personally, who lost a hard fought battle with cancer). The area has really grown very rapidly, and I'm not sure what old traditions are still there, just looking from a distance.1 point

It won’t be done until BH Coaching/Admin gets it done which they won’t because they’ve grown complacent and believe their own hype. The fact that the 3 nearest programs to them, (REL/RSS/GCM), aren’t nearly on their level lends to this mentality of BH being the best and if they already believe they’re great why push harder and work out in that hot sun when they’re already great? 20-30 years ago, BH was a country-boy team. Hard-nosed, scrappy, and surrounded by other decent programs so BH always had a chip on their shoulder and something to prove so they’d outwork those other big-city programs. Today? BH becomes more and more high-dollar suburb with each Riceland house sold and all the BH Coaches and players hear all day long is how great they are. Well, if that’s all they ever hear, and they coast into playoffs each year due at least in some part to the schedule they play and quality of their opponents, then there’s no chip on their shoulder. They need to get that chip back on their shoulder. BH keeps low-key signaling that they’re 6A ready, like scheduling all 6A opponents in out-of-district this year. They’re never going to be if they don’t do just like other posters on here are saying and toughen up. Can you imagine what would happen in 2026 when UIL redraws districts again if they dropped GCM down and bumped BH up in GCM’s place? It won’t matter how nice “The Indoor” is or how much they pay their Coach. BH enrollments are already close to the 6A cutoff and if they don’t get right they’ll get humbled in 6A1 point

Separation Scientist reacted to Crawdad for a topic
I'm not sure who you are Separation Scientist, but you and I are on the same page entirely. BH has not played tough, physical football for 4 full quarters in years (before the Gage hiring). I feel it has 99% to do with how we work in the offseason. I know we lift weights and spend a great deal of time lifting those weights and doing footwork drills, etc., ......but are we hurting and learning to fight through the pain and get to that next level and continue on? I firmly believe in quality over quantity. Do the coaches work the kids until exhaustion and then continue pushing them? I know the answer.... they do not! We practice in an indoor air conditioned taj mahal even when the weather is great. It is much different than what the BH offseason program was in the nineties and early 2000s....and the programs of Katy and PNG of today. We worked through multiple agility, plyo, mat drills, bleachers, hill training, weight training circuits until we were puking and after we finished non-stop motion for 50 minutes all groups would meet on the track to run a quarter for time. If you didn't make the time you had to run it again. We did this every day and would routinely test strength and speed (included a mile run for time...which hasn't happened at BH in years...yes, big boys can run a mile) ....and 90% of all athletes would improve in both strength and speed throughout the offseason. This all took place in 4th period of the school day, and it got results. We didn't have any big, sloppy dudes because they couldn't make it through the offseason (they lost weight and became hosses.... or quit) and our numbers were streamlined to only include those that really wanted to be there and put in the work. One thing that didn't happen is we didn't have kids lay out injured on the field. I do not remember many, if any, ever getting hurt or missing a game. I contribute that to how we worked in the offseason. Until we get the program back to this way of thinking and working, we will continue to be mediocre. We have twice the athletes and numbers today than we did then so it would be fun to see the results. It can be done. Not sure it will be done.1 point -

The 2 DCs was a tremendous problem his first 2 years. Going back to the traditional defense has helped. But we still on the edge of shooting ourself in the foot in every part of that game. Bottom line is I'm happy the kids are having success. KJ had the stongest game Ive seen personally. #5 made some great catches last night. The defense made the stops when they needed to. Everyone on the team contributed. Wish I would've stayed a bit longer to see them celebrate. But the Whataburger penalty flags were calling my name around the 3rd quarter. Great broadcast by KJAS team last night too. It was also my 1st trip to the new Dawg House. I particularly love the raised area near the entrance with tailgating and kids playing. There's something about keeping the community in touch with the program that they understand very well up there. Good game Jasper. Look forward to making the trip again in a couple years.1 point -
Your absolutely right. WOS expectations are very high. They just dont care about the win its how they win. Shutting the opponent out and being dominant in all phases of the game. Well the truth is Coach Thompson and Coach Hooks are gone and we now know its not all about talent if you expect that high of a standard. Coach Thompson held players accountable and they wanted him gone. Its going to be hard to find old school football coaches because kids and parents are soft these days.1 point
