The homer in me says Silsbee by 7. In reality I think WOS wins by 14. The Tigers overachieving early in the season sort of warped people's expectations. It happens like that. About 30 years ago we had 2 or 3 people killed by lightning one summer. I don’t remember any in the city before or since yet it happened within the same summer. We had maybe 8-12 fatal vehicle accidents each year scattered around the city and months. The odds are astronomical of happening on the same highway at the same time yet one day when I was the shift commander we were working two fatal accidents at the same time in the same highway a couple of miles apart where neither had any relation to the other. It wasn’t like one accident caused a massive traffic jam, which caused a secondary crash. Nope, despite the odds probably like winning the lottery, it happened. The craziest which was almost certainly lottery winning odds, when I was in detectives I had a case of a woman being arrested for assaulting her husband. That alone was odd enough because the woman usually does not get arrested. Another detective happen to be walking by my desk and saw the case and said hang on a minute and went to his office. He came back with a case from two years earlier with the exact same woman was arrested for assaulting her husband. The crazy thing was, they were the exact same case numbers. The odds of that happening are probably in the billions but, it happened. This is yet another example.

Nederland likely can match PNG in skill players but can they overcome the PNG offensive and defensive lines? If they can it might be a close game. If they can’t…..

Texas at least accomplished one thing in the second half. With 12 teams making the playoffs, they really didn’t need a blowout loss on their resume. The defense wasn’t bad. The o-line was terrible.

Not necessarily. SP still has to play Deweyville and West Sabine. If they lose both those games then they finish 3-3. Evadale and West Hardin could finish 4-2. That would leave the final game between West Sabine and Sabine Pass for the 4th spot. Deweyville is the only team that has clinched a playoff spot.

I will make my one post of the year. It is hard to stay elite, and PNG has done it for 2 years. This game has all the makings of an upset. Winning streak, SC, rivalry game. Defensively, we are not at the elite level we have been. Containment has been a big issue. Nederland has surprised me, and a lot of others as well. If it comes to a shoot out, it’s anyone’s game. I do not see it a a blow out on either side, and I think it’s a toss up on who wins. Nederland showed some grit last night. Whoever shows up ready to play will win this one. If I was a betting man, I wouldn’t bet…. The 2 things PNG STRUGGLES at, is what Nederland is good at. QB scrambling and RB speed off the edge. For PNG to win, we will need to control the clock, and pound the rock. And make a few crucial stops. This will be a very interesting game. And the DC could be decided Friday night. Going to be a very interesting game.

I added a couple States, looking at the trend the Harris campaign should be concerned. Trump is surging forward (at the right time I might add) while Harris has lost ground on EVERY state listed. It does not seem the sit downs with Oprah, Stern, Baier or the couple podcast seem to move the needle for her. My guess is she does not do the Joe Rogan podcast. Well, Crosby gets to 4-0 in district play in large part to being the benefactor of a weak district. Tough start to the season but have set ourselves up for a couple shots at hosting a home playoff game . . . or dare I even say a district championship.

Expectations were higher than the previous 2 seasons. Thought we were a solid 3rd place. Now I think 2nd is a obtainable goal. Personally I don't agree with the ranking. Tepper picked us mid season to play in the state championship game. I hope I'm wrong. Would love for them to prove me wrong. I just don't see it. 3 rounds if we line up with the weak sisters. I thought Crosby would finish 3rd or 4th before the season started and it looks like we’ll at least finish 3rd. It’s disappointing because this is the type team and schedule Riotdan or Prieto could’ve finished at 9-1 with an opportunity for at least a regional semi appearance. That being said, I think very few of us thought Crosby would be at this point in the season and still have the opportunity to host a home playoff game. The runner-up probably still gets a brutal bi-district matchup with Pf. Weiss but if it’s Crosby I still think we relish the opportunity coming off a 2-8 season last year.

Nederland has a shot. Nederland is at home. Road wins are hard. Nederland, run the ball, run the ball, and run the ball some more. When you want to throw the ball, stop. Pause. Run the ball. Line up and play the best you can on defense. Maybe a turnover or two goes your way. Get a few stops, and run the ball. MLC QB Eli Morcos is the best QB you will see this season. He's good, very good. MLB RB Tyvann Byars is also good. You see a good RB in practice every day. Thomas can do everything Byars can do. You will be ready. MLC will make some plays. That's OK. Morcos and Byars are good players. Control what you can, compete, and did I say, RUN THE BALL. Nederland has a good shot to get the W.

Played teams with a pulse. Nederland has played two teams that are competitive. Both 4A schools. Got whipped at home and pulled out a last second win. Outside of that a terrible Lumberton team and the bottom three schools in district.
