Tuesday: Port Arthur at BH will be a Battle. Looking back it seems these 2 teams have opened district play the past couple of years. Friday: United at PAM will be one to watch as well.

The only reason Gunter isn’t playing for their 48th straight win and third straight undefeated season next week is because they had last year’s 4A-D1 state champion and this year’s probable 4A-D1 state champion on their schedule.

Woodville has made Southeast Texas proud by reaching the State championship, but Gunter operates on an entirely different level when it comes to football. For Woodville to compete, they’ll need to address and clean up several fixable mistakes. While an upset would be incredible, the reality is that Gunter’s talent and coaching give them a clear edge. Prediction: Gunter 49, Woodville 7. Hoping to be proven wrong!

Always things that could have been done better by the coaching staff as well as the players but at the end of the day we got the W and now have a chance to win it all. Hope the team and staff are looking at things that have worked and not worked throughout the year as well as studying film on Gunter and getting prepped for the big one. You are not alone in your thinking. I have seen this for years. Kids being played out of position coaches not knowing how good his kids are refusing to play them to optimize winning. Hunter is not the only kid not being utilized Rigsby is also being under played kid is a playmaker. Hard headedness and emotions have always gotten in the way.

Not rooting against Woodville, but, Gunter a different beast.
