Your superintendent just drove off a good coach and is effectively drunk texting “you up?” to coaches to find a new one. “Embarrassing” is an understatement.

Due to games scheduled for Tuesday being either moved up to Monday or pushed back to Wednesday or Thursday, we will not have a Tuesday Jan. 21 pickem for this coming week. We will have a Friday Jan. 24 pickem and I will post that list of games Wednesday.

I can see some of that. But, my understanding is the last two AD/HC’s didn’t leave of their own accord, and one (Westerberg) took another AD position with—presumably—decent pay fairly quickly thereafter. The other hasn’t had a chance yet. So, not sure that’s the full story. To me, there’s something else going on also. JMHO

I think the turn over has a lot to do with coaches looking for that final paycheck to sunset them into retirement more tan the Sup. These coaches have already built their pedigree and cashing in on it IMO and don’t blame them. At least I feel that is what Gage and Westerburg did not sure about Abseck , but when his son graduated with him in Cedar Park I think so did he. If BH hires another coach just looking for that pedigree I think we see the same result. BH needs to find a coach that has had some success with a young family. Will that work who knows

Turning back to the open AD/HC position—and asking BH fans—do y’all think the job is tougher since the Super is an ex State Champ player, then a district winning AD/HC himself? Could there be an undue amount of pressure on the position? Just seems a lot of turnover of really qualified coaches since this Super has been at BHISD. Question isn’t meant to be derogatory. Honest question.

Abseck isnt close to retirement he's applied for a few jobs already, he's not close to being done....Westerberg and Gage were definitely at or on the brink of retirement. The guy in the mix right now is younger than Abseck....he hasn't said no, but he hasn't said yes either

BHISD was successful & rated highly before he arrived, and will continue after he’s gone as long as the City Planners, Council, Mayor, Manager set criteria for new homes to start in the range they start now & above. That limits the people that can afford to live in the area & is a subtle—often forgotten/unknown—way of selectively keeping a community a certain economic/demographic level. Well known that parents of better means have children that perform better scholastically.

Well, that would be a first for all! LOL I would imagine Poole is very competative and its hard to imagine that the competitivness does not drive him to reach the highest results possible. Of course it can go too far and cause an unintended result. Lets give him and BH a chance to get the replacement secured, and then go from there. Otherwise lets give him some credit on the outstanding academic achievements BH is known for. Its not an accident. THAT is what ultimately matters the most. Life >>> Football.

I’m not a BH guy. I literally couldn’t have told you the coach’s name until he left. I just know they have got a good base of kids and solid facilities, a lot of money, and a lot of growth. They’ve got a lot of obvious problems and their leadership is an embarrassing dumpster fire, but I still think they’ll be competitive in less than 5 years after joining 6A. We’re talking 6 to 7 years from now. A LOT can change in way less time.
