Frame it however you want, but for a school who previously lured Westerberg from Allen and Abseck from Cedar Park, this hire smells like a wet fart. Especially with some of the names who wouldn't even consider working there and the pending move to 6A, Poole may have banished BH football to the island of irrelevancy. There isn't a world where going from Abseck to Simper isn't a massive downgrade.5 points

As a group of upper middle class communities that make up BHISD, I’d expect the district to do well in academics and sports that benefit from club participation (which is easier to afford and participate in with a greater family income) than a sport which relies heavily on team speed. You can teach schemes. You can get stronger. You can’t teach speed. How does the BH track team do in speed events? Add on top of that an Admin that may meddle in football more than other sports because of their background, and it may (I accentuate ‘may’) make it more difficult from the football aspect. Don’t forget, the previous two HFCs that were let go in a less than amicable fashion were also ADs. Don’t they get any credit for helping the other successful sports? Doesn’t an AD help support ALL sports activities?5 points

In the last 4 years at Cypress Woods he went 26-17 with one co-district championship, one year missing the playoffs, and 0-3 in the playoffs. Had a pretty good stretch at CCVM, but that's a notoriously bad region, and the guy who replaced him has done just as well there. Before that at CC Ray he won 1 playoff game in 5 years. I'm having a hard time seeing this as an upgrade for BH, and that has nothing to do with me "hating" on them.4 points -

As East Texas commented we do well in Track speed events. And yes the AD’s get the credit, but so does the Super for bringing them here. This also goes beyond sports and extends to academics and all UIL events. BH has been district UIL champs for like 27 years straight! The BH super isn’t perfect, but thank God he isn’t a liberal that caves to anyone crying.2 points -

His coaching (with a different DC than he had at BH) along with Lufkin’s typical speed could be lethal. He was never gonna be very successful at BH. BH has issues from the top down. Doesn’t matter who the coach is…2 points

IMHO, I think the biggest reason most of these "special" coaches you all are so quick to say turned BH down, and probably did, wasn't necessarily because of Poole, or the School Board, or community, or anything else you like to sling, but more realistically the fate of who may very well end up their district mates or bi-district opponent moving up to 6A...Period! I really doubt ANY of those fellas would want to put their legacy and pride on the line with that daunting fact! Face it, when a coach reaches that successful level in their career, I don't think many would want to take over a program with good athletes having to compete every week against those D1 Juggernauts, to just struggle to reach the playoffs as the 4th place team, or to be abruptly eliminated by NS, SC, or 'Cita every friggin' year in Bi-District! That just doesn't make much sense, $200k or whatever the number ended up being! At some point, money isn't everything; although, I would like a $200k salary...LOL! If BH was in an area with multiple feeder schools and a population level that supported a more conducive talent pool, then yeah, maybe...but a rural-esque, bubble of population in a small, independent school district up against those guys...nope, not buying it! I just don't think those Uber-successful coaches would jeopardize what they have for that. I don't know Simper's pedigree, but I wish him luck in his new endeavor. Whatever happens, I expect BH to compete with heart and guts with what lies ahead in the very near future, and I have no doubt they'll respond accordingly! I'm sure he is a great motivator, coach, gentleman, and although I don't know him from Adam, as a lifetime BH'er, I'll support him. Go Eagles and yes, I'm a homer - so what!1 point -

President Trump Orders Closure of All DIE Offices!
thetragichippy reacted to bullets13 for a topic
No. Which is why I've repeatedly stated that I'll take the best surgeon, regardless of race. But DEI initiatives that placed minority status over ability and qualifications led to less qualified doctors, surgeons, pilots, etc., not to mention less capable college students who will later enter specialized fields in the workforce. I'm not sure how you haven't gleaned this from my posts, but I'm all for the most deserving and capable students and workers advancing. I have no issue with a black female brain surgeon working on my brain, but I want it to be because she's the best brain surgeon available. I DO NOT want a black, female brain surgeon working on me who only made it into med school over more intelligent, capable students because she was a black female, and then was hired by a hospital over more qualified surgeons to fulfill yet another DEI initiative.1 point -

If Silsbee played Kountze This Season
BADSANTA reacted to AggiesAreWe for a topic
I wasn't speaking about just this thread. Facebook, X and other platforms have plenty of this talk, mostly generated from Kountze peeps. I agree on that last statement. But I also know that most of the talk is about Kountze winning the game. Nothing about it benefitting both teams. Also, not really sure the game benefits Silsbee. Most teams they will face in playoffs do not do what Kountze does. Run diamond press all game. I would want to play a warm up game vs. a team that would play a style that causes Silsbee issues (half court game). Full court pressure is not that big a deal to Silsbee. I am old school. If I am a coach, I am not scheduling a game just for the fans.1 point -

Are post entry passes even taught in practice anymore? Every NBA and college game I watch has perimeter guys struggling to get the ball down low to the bigs. I know modern offenses don't require a lot of post touches anymore but it still blows my mind how much that skill has gone away.1 point -
Hearing through the grapevine that BH has in fact hired @Reagan to be their next coach. He's signed a 7-year contract, but will only accept 190K a year until he wins his first championship. Super gets to name the starting lineup for pre-district games only, plus one quarter per game in district.1 point

I kind of like the idea of having a DEC type committee from another classification reviewing interdistrict transfers with a UIL rep included. If the number of requested interdistrict transfers is more than 10 per school year, kick it to a specifically funded UIL panel where coaches and others don’t get overwhelmed. UIL would need a little more funding as I understand there’s somewhere around 15,000+ transfer requests per year. If the requests are within a multi school ISD, split them up & have them be reviewed by another ISD, or the UIL panel. Still require a PAPF for all transfer requests just like the new rules stipulate. Don’t need to go back to the pre-1981 blanket policy. Just me thinking out loud based on my limited knowledge.1 point
