  1. Not arguing with you at all as I said I have no knowledge of the current circumstances in GCCISD just going off your earlier comments about bonds not passing and Sterling being in sad shape with no plan in place to fix….sad situation all around…somebody or group within Baytown is going to have to figure out…I don’t blame the parents for moving their kids out to neighboring districts with this going on..Hopefully you guys get some strong leadership in there and get it straightened out.

  2. It doesn't matter what team someone supports when it comes to making an opinion. It's completely irrelevant. Tarkington isn't poking the bear. Why do you think a member has to represent a team with his comments in order to be credible? That's like you cannot make a comment about Bridge City football because you are a fan of a Silsbee team that hasn't won a state championship like BC has in that sport. Ridiculous

  3. That war has been going on for around three years - Biden did nothing to help the peace effort. Today marks one month since Trump's inauguration. Give it a little time.

  4. Ma'am. Set the Kool-Aid down. ABC News 02/10/2025 - "Federal contracts to SpaceX doubled at the beginning of the Biden administration, going from $1.1 billion in the 2020 fiscal year to $2.2 billion in the 2021 fiscal year. The contracts continued to grow under Biden, reaching $3.7 billion during the 2024 fiscal year." "In 2021, SpaceX netted a major multibillion-dollar contract under the Biden administration to send the first woman and the first person of color to the moon as part of NASA's Artemis program, whose long-term is the exploration of Mars." "SpaceX's defense contracts then grew under the Biden administration, doubling from $856 million in 2023 to $1.8 billion in 2024 as the company won new contracts for the National Security Space Launch program. In all, SpaceX has earned more than $5 billion in contracts from the Defense Department." Do you think it's sad that Biden's administration awarded Musk's companies contracts? Or do you think it's even more sad that persons of your ilk try to find anything possible to complain about in light of the great things Musk and the Trump administration are doing to save ALL of us money from frivolous and idiotic spending. I'm not poor anymore, and I won't pretend to be in financial hardship. But I once was. And I'm not so well off that I don't have to adhere to a budget at home. We are over 37 trillion in debt as a nation. If you were personally in deep debt, would you have to find ways to save? Would you have to give up certain things to make ends meet? Would you get rid of cable, cook more at home, cut out trips and other entertainment? Would you seasonally adjust your thermostat? Would you opt for keeping your vehicle for a few more years after paying it off instead jumping into another car note? Would you refinance high interest loans and consolidate your debt? Would you opt for a higher deductible on home and auto insurance policies to lower your premium? Would you make a list for grocery shopping that adheres to your budget and helps avoid impulse shopping - maybe even use coupons and look for items on sale? Would you make every effort to avoid loans and live on a cash basis instead of racking up credit card debt that becomes virtually impossible to payoff when only making the minimum payments (not to mention the additional high interest you incur)? There are literally dozens of more examples I could give, but if you answered yes to many or even any of those leading questions above, then you are doing the same thing Trump, Musk and the DOGE are doing. It's all common sense. Your "So sad" comment says that you are either uninformed, prejudiced against anything Trump, or stupid. I'll choose the first two for you. Let's say your not stupid but just uninformed and prejudiced (the non-racial kind). Open your eyes. Think before you speak (or post). Look at more than left wing articles to get your information. I do. Notice that I quoted ABC News and not Fox News. That gives more credibility to my argument, because it was published by a left leaning media source. It doesn't allow you the opportunity to say, "Oh, that's just propaganda from a conservative source." (see @Reagan posts, lol) Give yourself the chance to sound intelligent. Because oftentimes you don't.

  5. Rice is coming off a serious knee injury. It's just now looking like he's jumping like he could last year. His biggest problem (along with our other big) is turning the ball over. They put the ball on the floor and get it slapped away a lot sometimes. Houston Wheatley had better do a better job when pressed this year. They were pretty clumsy in the game last season. They also made a lot of timely 3s to keep the game close in the first half. If Silsbee can force them into a lot of turnovers and stay out of foul trouble, I like our odds.

  6. I’m going to take your opinion with a grain of salt. Especially when I start seeing the words “we” when you talk about what Silsbee is going to do. I get the passion and I feel the same way when I speak of my team. But I’ve found that the more I base opinions from the heart and emotion the more I find myself in the wrong. From the outside looking in, I find myself questioning Rice’s ability every time I watch Silsbee. For a kid with that size, I always feel like he should be doing more. What did his stat line look like for district? Just wondering because I didn’t see one district game just followed the scores.

  10. Funny how people are angry with Musk for implementing the bureaucratic colonoscopy but have no problem whatsoever with the persons responsible for the misappropriations and criminal abuse of the funds.

  11. Yeah, I don’t BLAME folks for transferring their kids out either. I simply mention on here that these things happen and there’s folks who just don’t like hearing that. You’re right that it’s a sad situation.

  12. I" know Mr. Doug Jones has seen both teams play and he's got Silsbee for the win..! And he will be sitting right in front at the table for this one. And I'm taken Silsbee by 7... And Rice has been playing great and will give it his all come Friday. But there are others on the Silsbee team I" would be more worried about..lol

  14. I've been more right than wrong. I dont think Tarkington would ever be a school Silsbee would consider playing. That would be like lining up Woodville or Huntington. I mean whats the point of laying a 60pt beat down on a team. That would be worst than playing some of the team in district. I do find it odd that a person would come on this board to attack a Silsbee player when your school is Tarkington. As far as I know, Tarkington has never been a powerhouse in sports. Maybe im wrong again. Tarkington poking the bear when the bear isn't on your schedule is wild. Silsbee did blow them out in football. What I do know is that Rice would hang 20 and 20 on them. A 25-10 record vs mostly losing record teams is hardly anything to be excited about.

  15. I think East Chambers will hang closer to Hitchcock than some think. Not sure if it was out of character or not but they shot lights out against Huntington. Also have some speed to match.

  16. You also made comments, not just questions. I have no problem with folks "questioning" Silsbee teams. It comes with the territory of great programs. I just try to provide answers to those questions. Particularly when a player is being singled out. You stated that you thought Rice should be more dominant. I provided a rebuttal.

  17. I didn't assume, I asked. I literally said I don't know the district other than Lumberton and I know they don't have a true big. Again I just wanted to know what the Silsbee faithful thought but I'm learning fast there are certain no no programs to question on here.

  19. Good post, educated and smart are often confused, and I truly understand a degree in your field can be invaluable, in preparing you for the work force and opening up more opportunities, but it doesn’t make one smarter, that’s a built in feature.

  21. Book smarts and common sense are two separate things. Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, never graduated college. Einstein dropped out of high school at the age of 15 and failed the entrance exam for the Swiss Federal Polytechnic, a prestigious institution in Zurich. Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder, and CEO of Facebook, did not graduate from college. Henry Ford, an American industrialist and the founder of the Ford Motor Company did not go to college. Walt Disney, a pioneer in the entertainment industry and the co-founder of The Walt Disney Company, did not go to college. He dropped out of high school at the age of 16. Thomas Edison was a prolific inventor and one of the most famous geniuses of all time. He dropped out of school at the age of 12. You want me to keep on listing instances of people who are geniuses that don't have a college degree or even a high school degree (far less a doctorate) that are extremely smart? I would be willing to bet that thousands of people without a "JD", @LumRaiderFan included, that could've done better than Kamala Harris as VP.

  22. So because he is from a town that traditionally isn’t good at basketball he can’t have an opinion on another teams playoff matchup? 🤣🤣

  23. Question. Have you seen every team in Silsbee's district play this season? Also, have you seen Silsbee's pre-district schedule? My point being that Rice has seen plenty of competition this season. Any player averaging 13 boards a game is good in my book. Regardless if he plays for Silsbee or what district he plays in. BTW, Rice is '6"6

  24. That’s a bit extreme comparison isn’t it? I mean the kid is what 6’7” in 4a basketball. That’s kind of my point, how many nights does he even see another guy his size, my guess is rarely. Especially in that district. So bragging about double digit rebound avg begins to mean less and less. us for me means Tarkington

  25. Yeah he’ll take the money under the table, and after he and/or trump leave their positions. Delayed bribery. Totally fine, totally cool

  26. I know this is not a message board to question Silsbee because of the number of fans on here and I promise I’m not trying to entice an argument. I’m just enjoying the conversation. So I will continue to discuss playing devil’s advocate with no ill regard towards the Tigers only because I don’t know them like y’all do. These big games that he’s had, was there an opponent with even close to his size with any skill on the court? I know the kid from Wheatley can match him size and athleticism is why I’m asking. That being said I wasn’t overly impressed with him either. He was a nonfactor vs us.

  30. I wish GCM (and RSS and Lee) all the best. Like I said earlier, I support my neighbors. I wish we all could do that. Since GCISD has a lot of Thursday games, I am even there in support when I get the chance.

  31. GCCISD has approved at their last Board Meeting the rezoning maps to take effect this Summer. With that said, GCCISD refused to answer when asked at that Board meeting whether this rezoning would be enough to get GCM down to 5A in ‘26. They deferred the question to the AD who spoke later at the meeting, and no one asked him. They DID say, however, that there are some things they can do beyond rezoning like moving programs around that can get those numbers down as well. They also said that even if GCM drops down in ‘26, it’ll be right back up in ‘28 or ‘30 at the latest and unable to drop again because the rezoning is going to fill REL/RSS up so there won’t be any more room to take the excess students out of GCM and they’re going to keep growing with all the new construction out there. Long story short, it looks like they’re probably going to get GCM back down into 9-5A-1 in ‘26 but it’ll only be a 2 year break before they go back up to 6A to stay in ‘28. RSS in 9-5A-1 and REL in 9-5A-2 SHOULD be staying where they are. Barber’s Hill is set to exceed 6A enrollment numbers by next year so most folks figure BH and GCM will switch places, BH moving up to 23-6A and GCM taking their place back down in 9-5A-1 with RSS. None of this spares GCM Football the whooping they’re going to get again this season in 23-6A plus it wouldn’t matter if Nick Saban is their HFC they can’t beat REL in the shape they’re in and probably not RSS either.

  34. Tarkington. Man get on somewhere. Tarkington lost to Silsbee by damn near a 100 a few years back in the 1st round of playoffs. Silsbee is better off just going to practice to get s better run that playing Tarkington. I thought you were going to say Untied or someone that mattered. 😂😂
