Hello Go Pro! Not sure what your intent is on starting a bunch of non sense on what you thought you had heard. My son would love the opportunity to share with you what he was referring too. Remember he is 17 yrs old just got pulled from the field during practice for a quick interview. Since you don't know my son I will educate you on how he is raised in our home so maybe you can have clarity moving forward. He along with the rest of us in our household put total Trust in God and his plan, hold ourselves accountable first and foremost, we accept discipline, accountability, and we know we will never be perfect. We strive to be the best in all we do especially in helping to lead others. My son came home and told us what he had said during his interview and he said I along with the other leaders of our Team have to step it up if we are going to hand over our legacy to the next athletes coming up in the program. He was holding himself accountable in his statement first and foremost because that is what leadership looks like. My son has no intention on throwing any previous players or coaches "Under the Bus" from previous years. What would be the point in that? Please before you decide to throw punches at a high school athlete and think you knew what he was trying to do then do me a huge favor! My home is always open to anyone who would like to sit down and have an adult conversation. My son would also prefer that as well and he is definitely man enough and respected enough to do so. This Nederland Team along with the coaches have a lot of positive momentum going for them already for this season. We as grown adults should do our part and stand with them instead of trying to deflate them. Call me crazy but you are either with them or against them!!!12 points

Coach Randy Smith of Silsbee
Who That and 9 others reacted to AggiesAreWe for a topic
Just wanted to give a shout out to AD/HC Randy Smith of Silsbee. Coach Smith has now been at Silsbee for 9 seasons. His overall record is 78-32. District record 38-9 and playoff record is 18-9. He has won 3 district championships, 7 Bi-District championships, 6 Area championships, 3 regional finals (2 championships) 2 state semifinals. His teams have made it to the 3rd round or better in 6 of his 9 seasons. They have averaged 3rd round over those 9 seasons. Here is a breakdown of each of those seasons: Overall District Playoffs 2016 6-5 4-1 R 0-1 2017 7-5 4-1 C 2-1 2018 10-5 3-1 R 4-1 2019 9-4 3-1 R 4-1 2020 7-3 5-1 R 1-1 2021 5-5 4-2 T 0-1 2022 13-1 6-0 C 3-1 2023 12-1 6-0 C 2-1 2024 9-4 3-2 T 2-1 He has won 72% of his games overall, 81% of district games and 69% of playoff games. All this as a first time HC. Coach Smith has also been an excellent AD. Silsbee has a very successful athletic program. Congrats to Coach Smith on what I consider one of his best coaching years this season.10 points -

It has truly been a pleasure officiating for Coach Sigler over the years. His professionalism and integrity in the game of high school basketball were evident every time his team stepped on the court. What set him apart was not just his knowledge of the game, but the respect he consistently showed to officials—even in moments where a call was questionable, he never tried to embarrass or demean. He addressed concerns with composure and always maintained the standard of respect. Coach Sigler also went above and beyond by allowing me to come speak to his team on multiple occasions, giving insight on officiating and teaching the do’s and don’ts from a referee’s perspective. That openness to educate and bridge the gap between coaches, players, and officials is a rare and appreciated quality. Wishing Coach Sigler a happy and well-deserved retirement. Your legacy of leadership, character, and respect will continue to influence the game and those who play it for years to come.9 points -

I think LC severely underestimates actually PLAYING against La Porte. LP’s offense hasn’t been the issue. TO’s have. If PNG can control the edges better than they did against LP, they should be okay. PNG will be able to key on one very good RB against LC instead of worrying about 2 like against LP. From what I’ve read, the LC RB had about 1450 yards last year. Very good year. LP’s had 1700+ and 1000+ respectively in fewer games. Take care of the ball, and pound it up the middle.8 points -

Some of this stuff has implications way past what these kids probably realize. I know a 6’7” kid from the Houston area that at one time held an A&M offer. Big kid, wide shoulders, can hit the three and was one of the better back to the basket players I have seen at his age. Kind of an Adrian Dantley/Alex English type game for some of you old heads. Anyway, I’m not sure he has any committable offers at this point. Even lost some Southland offers for jawing at his coach, refs, etc. And this is a 6’7” kid who would be more talented than most of the rosters in the Southland. Point being, college coaches are very attune to red flags in this day and age. And when you can recruit kids out of the portal, you better be squeaky clean as a high school kid, on and off the court.7 points -

May the Lord bless our country and have a revival that sweeps through our nation. May we become a United America again and become One Nation Under God. May the Lord be the one you turn to when making your decision on whom to vote for. May the candidates who take office always consult the Lord before making decisions. I have almost completely avoided commenting on the election in these forums. I have avoided most politics threads. So with it over, these are my thoughts. The Democrats are all about identity politics, period. Not only about identity of potential voters but about candidates. That doomed them. They have twice chosen a female to run with their banner but was either the best candidate or even the best woman candidate? No. Clinton’s primary was rigged and Harris had no primary. When Harris ran in 2020 she could not even muster the support to win a single delegate. Let that sink in. The Democrats resoundingly rejected Harris four years ago. In my opinion the Democrats through Clinton, created Trump. In a normal election Trump should never have stood a chance in 2016 but against one of the worst candidates in history, the coronation of the first woman president didn’t happen. Was Clinton the best Democrat in the country? It only came down to a socialist in Bernie Sanders and “the first woman”. Why didn’t anyone (big names) else run? It isn’t rocket science. The fix for Clinton and the super delegates was in. No Democrat with future aspirations would dare jump in and risk a defeat. Jump to 2024 and it was rigged again to break the glass ceiling. Of course someone could ignore that it was kind of a shock that Biden dropped out after he had secured the nomination but in smoke filled rooms this was the plan all along. Harris could not run against her boss so the Dems had to back him but then a couple of months before the election, force him out and install Harris without having her run. They hoped the bump would hold but it started fading quickly. They couldn’t wait to name her however because the DNC convention was looming and the call behind the scenes was forced in order for Harris to basically be selected (not elected) unopposed st the convention. It was now or never. Like Clinton, was Harris the best Democrat candidate? I think the result last night was a resounding no. So who best Harris? According to the Democrats it was a guy who had the baggage of… Orangeman bad Mean tweets Twice impeached Convicted on felonies Sued for issues many years ago Insurrectionist Abortion rights removal by the Supreme Court and Trump appointed justices Fascist Hitler Garbage Will overturn the Constitution on his first day in office A threat to democracy Etc. And yet, Harris got thumped. How could anyone think that Trump could win with such (claimed) baggage… but he did. That tells you how bad and delusional the Democrats are. With all of the baggage, how could the Democrat candidate not have won a record breaking landslide like Reagan in 1984? Easy. By selecting a person based on boxes checked. The Democrats created Donald Trump and their internally rigged elections have come back to them. This was not a Donald Trump win. It was a resounding Democrat loss.7 points

At this juncture, I’m very PROUD of MidCounty. Honestly, I could care less about seeding and placement in the district. I’ll be supporting both Nederland and PNG through the playoffs. These young men from BOTH teams play their hearts out for our enjoyment and excitement every Friday night. Prayers for both teams for injury free games for the rest of the season. I know it can be fun with the pokes and jabs in our comments. At the end of the day, regardless which team you support, MidCounty has done each and everyone of us PROUD! God Bless🙏7 points -

12 years ago they had enrollment of less than 1,000....now they have 3,300. Imagine if Silsbee had 2,000 more students dropped in on them, none of whom play football, then they have to be in the district with North Shore, Summer Creek, Atascocita and CE King. They would get their butts worked over something fierce every weekend then all the good players would find a more reasonable place to play where they would have a chance. They are a 3a or 4a school playing in a 6a district. No one would want to subject the self to that, so likely their better players went somewhere else.7 points -
The most common one I see is comparing Trump to Hitler (i.e., one of the worst human beings to ever walk the earth). Likewise, I remember seeing all kinds of posts, emails, etc. opining that Obama might be the anti-Christ when he was in office (hard to get worse than Hitler but this one certainly is). When a crazy person hears this craziness, it is not a leap for them to believe they are playing hero by ridding the earth of Hitler incarnate or the anti-Christ, etc. I would guess this is what people are talking about extreme rhetoric. At some point, words matter and people need to really be responsible when speaking or, as is often the case with social media, sharing. And both of these old guys running aren’t doing the best job of leading by example either.7 points

We love to bitch and moan about coaches/coaching but aren’t so quick to give credit where it’s due. Lamar has improved every single year under Brooks’ tenure. I don’t know how much more you can ask for, especially when the one team finishing ahead of you is paying to get players who have played, could play for some lower power 4/5 schools. Marco Born was pretty much a train wreck as AD at Lamar but I think we can safely say he got this one right. Not only has Alvin Brooks done a good job building this program, he’s a fine man who is 100% loyal to the University. Let’s give credit where it’s due.6 points

Robertson did very well. But that really has nothing to do with Daspit's abilities to coach. IMO, last year's style of play and coaching is different than how this year was played and coached. Different styles and philosophies. I just don't see any reason to discredit one to enhance the other. Completely unnecessary and kind of irrelevant to this game thread. I have to agree, BC plays Yates last year, it's likely a 20 point win for Yates and not a 1 point win.6 points -

One of the greatest college baseball coaches of all time, Wayne Graham, made a statement some time ago that he always recruited multi sport athletes over straight baseball players. Said their mentality, toughness and all around athletic abilities were more important than being a baseball savant. I have always been about playing as many sports as possible, particularly at a young age. This bull about making an 8 year old play only one sport year round is nothing but selfishness from the coach. Plain and simple.6 points -

Louisiana solved that problem. Open districts go to a different playoff bracket. Let them compete against others that aren't homegrown talent. It may be complicated but that's above my pay grade. I only know how to read a map and divide divisions evenly. Something the UIL obviously struggles with. Reminds me of a story I saw once. Before computers every MLB team schedule was determined by a husband and wife in NY. Just 2 people using common sense and process of elimination to schedule over 4000 games per season.6 points -

If you guys think the BIPARTISAN border bill was killed for any reason other than this election, I have some oceanfront property in Evadale for you. And if the shoe was on the other foot, the Dems would have done EXACTLY the same thing. The problem with politics is the ME will always be more important than the WE. I’m sure there are exceptions to that but very few. And neither of the choices at the top of the ballot in November would remotely be exceptions to that rule. As for another debate, I don’t know why Trump would think he’s in a position of power to negotiate. He needs it far more than she does at this point, in my opinion. However, while he is certainly not nearly as bad as Biden, I’m not sure Trump has the ability to perform at a high level against someone competent in a debate at this point. He’s obviously always been tough to keep on script and now you could see him struggling to organize his thoughts. Honestly though, the way NO ONE gives any serious plans or ideas EVER in these debates (easier just to brag/lie about their records and, more often, criticize the other candidate), it’s crazy to me to base your vote off a debate. Especially when in the amount of time you spend sitting there watching them prevaricate, you could research their actual records.6 points

All games are won/lost along the lines & with turnovers/penalties. That’s like saying water is wet. Still, I think it will be a good game for both squads to tune up & get ready for district. I hope both squads come away fully healthy & ready to go for the ‘real’ games. I like PNG’s balanced offense. LP’s D needs to tighten up. They’ve been okay. But, have given up big plays that have hurt them. PNG has a definite size advantage over LP’s LB’s and secondary. PNG will get to face a physical offense. Their tackling skills will be tested. Neither team will be able to get by with arm tackles. Id like to see both SE Texas teams do well this season. This game should help them both. I’m glad the staffs scheduled it. Maybe next year, y’all can visit the new Bulldog Stadium. It’s looking nice, and will actually be able to handle handicapped visitors with a full experience like everyone else. I will have to watch the stream as my wife has PSP (a rare form of Parkinson’s) and few stadiums can accommodate her needs. But, I wish both teams good games, and good health. Finally, I’ve never done this before, but if anyone has a desire to give to a charitable organization, please consider The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Thanks in advance!
