  1. Let me help you. In removing DEI from the government, the administration has removed obstacles such as set asides such as requiring a certain number of contractors or minimum of anything. So they can’t hold contracts for certain people or companies That has been taken to mean in this political opinion piece, that we can now return to segregated lunch counters. When the article brought up that the Civil Rights Act was still in place and discrimination is against the law, the response was….. “The Civil Rights Act of 1964 still bars discrimination, and segregated facilities, in the United States. But civil rights groups have feared that Mr. Trump’s war on D.E.I. programs has signaled the federal government’s willingness to retreat from enforcing it”. So… we fear that something may happen. Nothing has happened and nothing has been proposed. But by golly, we know that he has something up his sleeve!!! It is more meaningless dribble. It is an, “in our opinion” piece. More hard core journalism. 🤣

  2. So you’re saying the Southland Conference is one of only nine conferences with a team in the second round of the NCAA tournament? Cool!

  3. The president’s 49% overall approval rating in the Fox News poll matches the all-time high for Trump in the network's polling, which he last reached in April 2020, near the end of his first term in office. That is six points higher than where he stood at this point in his first administration (43% approval in March 2017). Looks like he is not doing as bad as the Democrats (who are polling the lowest in THREE DECADES......But please Democrats, keep doing what you are doing...... [Hidden Content]

  4. You actually have to pay money to enter the CBI tournament so other than the little bit of exposure you get maybe it is not financially practicable.

  9. I would have loved to have seen Lamar play in post season as well. The entry fee for the CBI is apparently a little under $30k but I’m guessing it’s probably at least that much in travel expenses per game. That team was playing really well at the end of the year though and would have been fun to see continue to play.

  11. NIT at least used to give automatic bids to regular season conference champions (who obviously didn’t win their conference tournament and get an NCAA bid). They did away with that rule before last year’s tournament and this year added some automatic bids for power 5 conference non-NCAA qualifiers. In short, it has now just become a secondary top-tier conference tournament. If McNeese had lost in the SLC tournament, they MIGHT have gotten a bid (honestly as much to do with Will Wade, and maybe even more so, that manager who has gone viral) but the NIT will mostly be filled with very average to bad big conference schools. And as snakehead correctly stated, the other post-season tournaments are just money grabs. It is my understanding both the men’s and women’s teams turned down postseason bids this year, the women to the inaugural WNIT (which has the old men’s rule about regular season champs). My guess is the deciding factor on both was $$.

  12. I'm sure they're ecstatic to have the approval of two political geniuses that can't distinguish between this administration and the last one.
    2 points
  13. I can see your point but I feel this administration has already set itself apart by actions and the folks they have put in positions, by qualifications, not checking a box. Unless you have someone as qualified, ready to step in, which is difficult, I certainly wouldn’t can anyone just for PR reasons, and I’m willing to bet this ain’t happening again, lol.
    2 points
  14. The reason I would disagree is that this administration needs to set themselves apart from previous ones. Show that potentially dangerous missteps have equally serious consequences. Sometimes examples have to be made and a "sacrifice" may have to be made for the greater good.

  17. Or La Porte and Pasadena. That way you would have the 3 ship channel area schools together. Barbers Hill may go to 6A this time if they have another year of growth like this year and that would leave 2 openings in 9-5Ad1.

  18. Spoke to OC Matt Kuykendall last evening. Like what I heard, don't think I've ever spoke to a high school OC with the his vision. Sounds more like a college OC to me with some of the things he discussed. There is not a single negative so far that I personally can see and I've been around a long time. Your thoughts on his work at BH? The program building is happening quick. Example, there were only 55 kids moving to the freshman team next year before Abseck was hired, now they have 100 committed to play next year and they are already working an off season. New strength and conditioning coach for MS through Varsity. Several stadium and indoor practice facility improvements already done or planned to happen after graduation. The communications between the coaching staff and player parents will be upfront and personal. Not seen around here in almost 20 years. Bigger booster club involvement with player parents, things are moving very quickly, no grass growing under Abseck's feet.

  26. I am afraid you will see more and more of that. Tough to compete in the major leagues with a minor league payroll. Combine that with kids staying in school longer (all but sure fire first round picks can make more now staying in school) and I think we will see fewer and fewer Cinderella stories. Hope I’m wrong.

  28. maybe i'm wrong, but it just seems like a $100k investment into post season play doesn't sound like much when you're talking about a university the size of lamar. Both teams are trending up, and even a little extra exposure could go a long way.

  29. Someone from leadership needs to step up and say we screwed up, we’re gonna fix it, and this will never happen again. That requires somebody being fired then so be it. If Trump were to fire one of his appointees, then he’ll be admitting he made a bad choice. That won’t happen. To deflect, deny, downplay, and play the whataboutism hurts the credibility of their transparency claim. Own it and fix it.

  34. Another attack, and it’s with a small b. You must have BDS. Since those on the left are so dedicated to this country that they are now concerned with “national security” threats, let’s figure out what is the actual threat. I would venture to say that this subject matter has been discussed with this chat service many times. It has never been a threat for this to be done. The problem arises with the journalist being “invited”. That’s the problem and it needs to be fixed. The threat comes from the reporter, who as a Trump hater, has sensitive info at his disposal. In the interest of national security, shouldn’t he have contacted someone and told them the problem? Of course not, he would rather release the info and “become the threat” that the left is so concerned about. His Trump “gotcha” moment is more important and he gets his name nationally known, something that wasn’t happening with his company. He is responsible for the actual threat, but you won’t hear anyone on the left accuse him of such. I mentioned him earlier but felt the need to expound. At the risk of being called a bot, hypocrite, or one of many other clever names on here, this is how I see it, and I’m sure no one will attempt to counter my post, just attack me like I’m a Tesla. One of the major threats to national security in recent history was the exchange of the “Merchant of Death” for a dope smoking, self proclaimed America hating, lesbian basketball player. She must have been one of those educated ones who thought she could outsmart the Russians by smuggling pot into their country. How brilliant. Of course there were no national security flags thrown up by the left, they sided with the stupid, America hating basketball player. How patriotic.

  42. I’m pretty sure I know who you are talking about and I agree with you. Speaking of, he reminds me a bit of Junior as well. Junior is actually more skilled offensively obviously but Queen is longer and a good bit better defensively (probably in large part due to length). But Junior is now the best player on the biggest franchise in China, apparently about to get a signature shoe deal. I would keep my behind over there, putting all those yuan in the bank a la Stephon Marbury.
