The QB counter play with a bubble screen attached that Texas dabbled in last year would likely be a bigger part of the offense with Johnson in, as would the QB zone plays that I suspect will become more prominent in 2018. Johnson would be effective enough on zone-read or QB stretch plays, but Texas would probably want to involve him more heavily as a runner than they did a year ago with Ehlinger and Buechele. Johnson is pretty effective throwing on the run but the big question is how he would do in the dropback game making reads and throws.Here’s a sampling of how that looked for the Indians against Nederland: As you can tell by how easily Nederland overloaded a seven man max protection set, the passing game isn’t the main emphasis for PNG. They love to throw some play-action bombs and have some straightforward dropback in the offense but they obviously know that their bread is buttered with the QB run game and that’s where they’re most effective and skilled as an offense.Still, Roschon hangs in and throws a dig under pressure that’s an absolute strike. PNG uses the “dig-post’ combination that made Mason Rudolph and James Washington such a terror as one of their main ways for pushing the ball down the field. Unlike the Cowboys though, they tend to hit the dig route rather than the post. Most of the passing attempts came in the first half. In the second PNG figured out that they were going to have to win the game with Johnson’s legs and ran him every other play en route to four consecutive TD drives. He was only solid while throwing in this game, regularly trying to hit guys while facing man coverage and pressure. But on plays like this you can see an ability to generate torque from the hips that produces some nice velocity: He’s more raw in his mechanics and footwork than he will be as a multi-year program player at Texas but there are a few traits you can see from his HS film that are encouraging. One is that he is pretty accurate and consistently so. Herman and his staff won’t be working with a guy that can barely get the ball out to the numbers or hit a receiver on the right shoulder. Another is his comfort level making option reads and knowing where to find his guys from week to week. Understanding defenses and how to attack them is a skill that can be translated into multiple offenses if the necessary throwing skills are there.Finally, there were multiple plays even in this game where Johnson had to make a play with his arm to sustain a key drive and he would rise to the occasion. He and the PNG offense are most comfortable right now using his legs to dominate opponents but he’s not a fish out of water when trying to win games with his arm (CROSBY) Would you like more?

No one on earth believes that Hornsby is the best pro prospect since Luck! NCAA just took in guys like Justin Fields, J.T. Daniels, Trevor Lawrence, and Dorian Thompson Robinson just last class who were all more highly regarded. DJ Uiagalelei is UNIVERSALLY regarded as the best Qb in the class of 2020 with Hornsby. What???? These people literally educate and raise your kids for 8-10 hours a day if they play sports so you can come home, put them to bed in 4 hours, and raise them yourself again on weekends. I have named my team in many threads. John Curtis Christian School but that is old history. Don't google them, it will be demoralizing, that's ACTUAL success and TRADITION. Since I live here I follow Roschon but don't have any particular attachment to a team. What you gonna tell me how Louisiana ball is different than Texas? That is always the excuse I hear for why teams aren't as successful here! Thing is I don't think any of your schools could take on our public schools either. Oh yeah! Then they talk about how successful they are and have been for the past 30 years in the regular season and how they make a deep run every 4 years or so. No title or anything in that span! Whoo Hoo! Such a high standard! Im convinced that many teams in the area are happy with being regular season good and winning a couple playoff games.

Well first, at schools like Highland Park which is pretty much the whitest team I have ever seen, coach all aspects of the game very well and have really talented kids year by year, while PNG and Ned may have a few pop up every few years. Nederland isn't known for Offense, PNG isnt known for Defense, Lumberton isnt known for ANYTHING, Vidor cant pass, BC plays like a smaller Vidor etc. You don't win championships especially in the upper levels being one dimensional or having lacking play in other areas. Calallen is another example of white kids balling. Many of these local teams are fine also with district rivalry wins and 2 deep playoff runs so you don't change coaching much.

You love bringing up 80s, 70, etc. These kids were born in 2000 on down. When you have to refer to championships from 30 plus years ago you no longer have a history of winning. You just won a long time ago and havent won since. Thats the typical dallas cowboy fan argument, all the glory 30 years ago with nothing but a couple runs to show today. Unless you define winning as a few deep playoff runs every few years. College station is brand new and has had success more than anyone in setx

I think vidor keeps it close but png will pull away. I dont think vidor will be able to keep scoring. Png always looks like they have a decent D against vidor then they fall right back off the next week.
