PNG vs SOC State Championship Game Thread/Post updates here

Agree with this. One thing to keep in mind that’s different for this year, though. The parking lot doesn’t open until 9:30 AM. Kickoff is at 11 AM. Uncertain whether third party parking lots around the stadium will open earlier. The shuttle service or an rideshare service may be the way to go. -
Semifinal Rematch Discussion - PNG vs. Liberty Hill
PN-G bamatex replied to Rez's topic in High School Football
Correct. Apparently one of the local doctors in LH bought 100 tickets to be given to fans for free, and they still haven’t gotten them all out. They know their fan turnout is about to get trounced on their own side of the field and they’re trying to mitigate the embarrassment. At some level, I can respect that. But the lesson is clear: agree to a bigger stadium next time. Problem solved. -

Rez Ipsa’s version of events is the factually correct one. That aside, there are a handful of people in PN-G shirts walking around Liberty Hill today. 😎 -

The discussion about the player's size started long before that post was made. Y'all move on to another topic. -

Alright folks, forum rules prohibit bashing an individual player. The commentary about Liberty Hill's nose tackle is getting excessive. You have to respect the heart and dedication of any kid that size who finds a way to play a position like that well. PN-G fans in particular should know that; many, many times, the Indians have overcome size and athleticism disadvantages to win games they weren't expected to win. Let's move on to another subject. -

Cy-Fair has reshuffled the Indian Band and Indianettes to allow for 500 more tickets on the PN-G side. It was just announced by NDN Press. Not sure the website has been updated to account for it yet, though.

This is correct. Liberty Hill’s history in that stadium may be a factor, but limiting the PN-G turnout was clearly the primary concern. I don’t blame the man for trying to put his team on the best footing possible. PN-G crowds are a factor in the game. We all know that. I respect his motivation. But as PN-G fans, we can’t allow this kind of behavior to persist. The lesson has to be learned. You play this game with us, and we’ll teach you how it’s played.

I seem to recall LH trying to pass the ball late in the game last year when the score was getting out of hand. I also seem to recall PN-G being ready for it. -

Classy post. +1 Welcome to the site! -
That's exactly right.

That is correct, and it's the fastest I've ever seen PN-G sell out its ticket allotment. I don't even think we sold out Livingston's tiny visitor's side that quickly back in the day. PN-G fans and friends: now is the time to start buying up the Liberty Hill side. [Hidden Content] 😎

Provided Bally doesn't televise the game, the PN-G high school journalism team (look up NDN Press on Facebook or YouTube) will stream the game with commentary. The kids are really good, and we've had strong viewership this year. The livestream topped out over 7,000 last week. -

Are you asking about the fans or the coaches and players? Coaches and Co. probably don’t care. The fans would definitely prefer indoors, but make no mistake: they’ll show up either way. -

The NDN Press broadcast hit 7,075 viewers at it height. And understand, that means 7,075 screens playing the game. The number of individuals watching each screen was likely much higher. -

Guys, I hate to break it to y’all, but there was a huge mass of PN-G fans watching the game while standing on the concourse between the upper and lower levels behind the top row of the bottom section. A few dozen empty seats on extreme ends of the stadium does not equate to fans not in the stands. The PN-G radio crew confirmed the sell-out at CE King with stadium staff in the pressbox. There were also small pockets of PN-G fans who sat on the visitor’s side with Lake Creek because they were redirected there by stadium staff after the home side sold out. By the way, while we’re at it, the reason we’re playing at Berry Center next week is because Liberty Hill’s head coach refused to agree to anything larger and was willing to force a coin flip between any site chosen by PN-G and Liberty Hill’s home stadium. We didn’t want to risk it. And I have that directly from someone who was involved in the negotiations. -

I want to share a story from last year. After the game, my folks and I went to the Whiskey Cake in Katy for a very late dinner. I had driven in from Leander that afternoon and they had left PN-G late due to work. Nobody’d had the time to eat beforehand. There was a family in the restaurant from Liberty Hill sitting a few tables down from us. They had a little girl with them, maybe seven or eight years old, and an older boy who appeared to be late middle school or early high school age. I figured he was a player on the freshman team. That little girl realized we were from PN-G and gave us the evil eye for the entire dinner. I’m talking a full hour of this girl glaring at us from across the dining area, non-stop. You could feel the heat coming off this girl’s gaze. I had to fight not to crack up all night because every time I’d look over to my left, I had the possessed girl’s hellish stare from the exorcism movie looking straight back at me. You could tell the PN-G crowd, the War Chant and Cherokee had driven this poor girl insane that night. Her parents picked up on what was going on and came over to talk to us after they finished their meal. Couldn’t have been nicer folks. Wished us luck in the championship, complimented the fan base - just nice, small town people. I told them I lived just down the road in Leander and drove in for the game. Even for a fan base like Liberty Hill’s that generally travels well, you could tell they were shocked that out-of-town alumni would make a drive like that to see the Indians play. This is the game where our fan base earned the “rabid” label online last year. Every time I think about that, I think about that ferocious glare from that little girl. I have a feeling I’m gonna feel it coming across the field at me again this year. Scalp ‘em! -
That's going to be one heck of a traffic jam on 610 around 4:30 PM.
